Loved this. The one thing I have always wanted to do is go to Alaska. This was wonderful, being 74, and a few medical problems, I wont be able to personally go. Thank you so much for doing this for all of us, not able to go.
I switched to this channel because the other similar one was silent with subtitles. I like the personal touches. They remind me of my grandparents. I’m still watching, but did go back to the beginning and can’t see how they painted a “racist picture” of Cali life. They were visiting their daughter, admired the beautiful train station.
This is a travel channel about the train riding experience with some scenery though they passed through California quickly. Most city/town views aren’t great because of the stations often being along the edges or in industrial areas. It’s not meant to be a commentary about L.A. city life.
My husband and I did a very similar trip in 2001. It was a wonderful experience with great memories. We met some really nice people while traveling and dining together. It was our last vacation trip before he passed from cancer just a few months after. Thank you for sharing your experience. ❤
Too bad she didn’t make it up the Space Needle. The observation deck is very solid with safety screens/fencing. The slow rotation might be concerning, but I don’t even remember feeling it.
Thank you guys so much! This video was awesome and the views were incredible! Thanks Rob for all the hard work on your photography! And Mrs Rob. (lol) for all the great info that you always provide❤😊
Thank you for taking us along on your adventure. L A Union Station is still my favorite. Security is a little prejudice, if you are carrying a wilderness backpack, but I usually opt to have fun with them for that. Alaska is definitely one of the train , ferry and cruise destinations I am saving for. Thank you again for creating this video. ❤😊
Just got a chance to watch this. Scenery was beautiful, but I hope you both are well. Rob was very quiet, and you neither one seemed to be your usual self. Thank you for the video.
I just love your videos! Thanks to you, I ger tips for traveling AND the privilege of real travel. I can nolonger travel, but watching your videos is also thrilling..
its truly a shame that Amtrak, Via and Alaska have not worked out a series of connections to allow people to skip the plane in the middle of this trip.
Love your videos. Los Angeles Union Station feels so Old Hollywood. It's glamourous and has a VIP Amtrak Lounge, I believe on the second floor, that is equally fabulous.
This is a very interesting route. I have been wanting to go to Alaska, but the cruise bored me and took too long like 14 days. Thank you for showing this beautiful route, I am so impressed. Definitely will seriously planning for it.
Thank you super much for these posts, I love this route!! I believe you took this trip in 2024, thought I had heard that part of the train line was wiped out by rains and landslides, or is this a different train track?? Thank you again.
Trying to imagine the camera setup for exterior train shots like at 41:00 or so. I'm imagining Rob with a GoPro and a very long selfie pole, standing between cars, sticking the thing outside, and hoping for a good shot. Maybe you mirror the camera view on your smartphone. Thanks for sharing. Robert in NYC.
Beautiful scenery and video. Enjoyed it. I drove from Anchorage to Fairbanks on the Trans Alaska Hubway and came back rounding it off from the other direction. It was spectacular but the train goes through the forest that cannot be accessed by automobile. You were fortunate. We saw lots of moose and caribou. Did not encounter any type of bear. Dr. Ajit Thakur (USA)..
What makes you two hits the rails. Amtrak Trains are y'all home on TH-cam Channel but I love it because I love going on the venture for a life time with you guys.
Trains, planes and a boat…. Public transportation is it sometimes. Plenty of,idwesterns Amtrak travel to Washington State. I use to meet some at the Seattle Center every so often. I’m shocked you couldn’t train into Alaska. Nice scenic vacation 😎🙏💕
Awesome views of Alaska especially Anchorage. Thank you for the views, it remains me of being there was from the time I was born in Dec 1987 to early 1990
First time visitor to your channel 😊 and Alaska is breathtaking thru your lens 🥰 By the way, how was the reindeer sausage? You two look like twins 43:28 🤭
Was hoping you would show more of end of trip arriving in Fairbanks. I did the train to Denali and spent 4 days there before heading back to Anchorage then took bus down to Seward. I’ve gone to Alaska 3 times and it’s my favorite state of all 50!! Each trip I went mid May beginning June.
The scenery was spectacular but I was looking forward to hearing the details you usually include in your other videos about how you planned the trip, how many hours/days each segment lasted, how you booked each segment, the cost of each segment, etc. For those who would like to plan the same vacation after seeing how beautiful it was, the video was not very helpful.
I love train trips and more so when you have a sleeper car you can just relax in your room with a glass of wine and enjoy the scenery .This is my kind of fun ,I did this often in Europe but I have never done it here in the US .I want to do it here in the US cross country just buy a ticket to anywhere and enjoy the ride .The trip you did from LA to Alaska do you need a passport since you have to enter Canada to get to Alaska .
This is fantastic! Thank you so much.........The scenery is incredible,,,in parts it reminded us of Hokkaido. We live in Japan = I am from the UK, my family, Japanese and it is wonderful to see other parts of the World,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Again, thank you so much! Liked and subbed,,,,,Looking forward to watching your other travels,,,,,,,,,,love from a hot and incredibly humid Japan!
I rode Amtrak up to Seattle from Portland just about this time 2 years ago, to see Tommy James & The Shondells perform at a casino, and spend a day or two seeing the sights in and around the city 😀
Only 7 seconds to get to the restaurant. The restaurant revolves so you see the whole city, it takes 45 minutes to see it all. It is well worth the trip. Food is delicious! You don't know what you're missing Allie!
Man, I've really got to take the train from Anchorage to Whittier again. When I did it a few years ago, it was pouring rain, and I couldn't see the mountains at all...
Hello my husband and I were inspired by your channel and will be taking the train to Denali and Seward in august. We were wondering if you could tell us what to pack and what to wear on the train I love your sense of adventure.
wow - we've been wanting to take a train to AK - our trip got canceled due to covid love lA Union Station - i took the amtrak from LA to Oregon back when I was in the Marines when amtrak was just getting started - way cheaper than airlines for young marines with no money :) the space needle it awesome - love the elevator!!!!!! my wife refuses to go up it too so don't feel bad :) awesome adventure - wish we could go on even 1/2 the adventures you guys do!
Love your train videos. We travel via train when we can but never anything as extensive as this. You have me thinking I need to plan a trip. Did you do all of your reservations yourself or use Amtrak’s travel to help? Thanks.
Another awesome video you two! Question, what month did you travel? I am in the process of putting together my trip for next year. I still want views with snow, but not too brutally cold. Thanks!😊
I am traveling to Alaska on NLC SUN in 3.5 weeks for 10 days. I know I will need to retun so this a great perspective. I typcally travel with a carry-on for 7-21 day trips on land and sea; I'm so afraid I will over pack for this cruise. Loved your experience in Seattle -- I have visted many times for work/ leisure Pike Place is a must enjoy. The Music was awesome a little dance, Chicago 2-Step to kick things off. I am a woman of a certain and certaininly spoil myself -- however the food on train looks blah especially on the first train. I am inamoured with the fact that you are warm and enjoying these great views from the train. The weather looks so mild; how was it on thhe Glacier Cruise? Looks like it was packed with people. Nothing beats the sensation of a York Peppermint Patty. Thanks for shaing you week of travel -- I know the weather varies by month in Alaska and by city / location. Great videos, keep them coming
Why didn't you take the Cascade to Vancouver? A little more train before air flight into Alaska. Love the Cascade talgos, and enjoy Vancouver as much or more than Seattle.
When I was in LA station Spring 2024 I saw guerilla filming happening. It was being done with cell phones but there was movement and dialog. It was well thought out and lasted a few minutes. They actually did the same take twice. One of the actors also did filming when the main character was dashing around solo.
That looked interesting. Came across your videos as we are thinking of taking a train trip in honor of our 40th wedding anniversary this fall. One question... your luggage on that trip... do they do like the airlines and have a special place for your luggage?
Hello, we, my husband and I, love your trip by train from LA to Alaska. We wonder if you have a list of the transportation and hotel where you stayed during the trip. Beautiful videos. Thank you .
Love your channels/videos. I retired two years ago but my spouse is still working. I believe we would benefit from some of your suggestions. Be safe and continue to live your life 😊
When was this filmed? The masks and distancing circles on the floor at LA's Union Station makes the video feel like it was filmed back in the Covid era.
I can't remeber when you were going to be in the Seattle area, but the Pagliaci pizza reminded me, if you want to try an even better NY style pizza find Oskars food truck. Yes, pizza from a truck, but it's amazing. Mondays in Ridgecrest in Shoreline is my weekly ritual.
I was on the Starlight train from LA to Seattle in a roomette this past October 2023 and I had traditional dining not flex. Did you not have a dining car?
Hello, just ran across your channel. Did you run into any technical issues with the train. I guess a lot of them are so old that they breakdown and then you have to take a Greyhound to your destination.
Loved this. The one thing I have always wanted to do is go to Alaska. This was wonderful, being 74, and a few medical problems, I wont be able to personally go. Thank you so much for doing this for all of us, not able to go.
Why would you post something so rude. If you don't like the channel don't watch it. The rest of us love this couple and enjoy the info they provide.
the video is really terrible and paints a racist picture of what it's like to live here in Cali.
I switched to this channel because the other similar one was silent with subtitles. I like the personal touches. They remind me of my grandparents. Holland America cruise tour July 2001??
@@jmerideth61 we were on Princess Cruise. I remember seeing Holland America in port at the same time.
@@jmerideth61 and yes it was in July.
Thanks for braving the cold to get those non-stop spectacular views. Very, very enjoyable video. 🥰
Too bad she didn’t make it up the Space Needle. The observation deck is very solid with safety screens/fencing. The slow rotation might be concerning, but I don’t even remember feeling it.
Everyone should travel to Alaska at least once.
Thank you for sharing your trips! I enjoy them so much! I get to see places that I will never get to see in real life. God bless you both.
I have seen a lot of your video's but this is the best one yet! Thank you!
Alaska is gorgeous - love the Denali Star & 26 glacier cruise out of Whittier! Great video!
Thank you guys so much! This video was awesome and the views were incredible! Thanks Rob for all the hard work on your photography! And Mrs Rob. (lol) for all the great info that you always provide❤😊
What a lovely trip‼️ Thank you for the ride-along‼️🌟✨️⭐️

Truly inspiring adventure. Would love to experience this beautiful journey once in a life time. Thanks for sharing❤️❤️👍👍

Your most beautiful video.
its truly a shame that Amtrak, Via and Alaska have not worked out a series of connections to allow people to skip the plane in the middle of this trip.
I enjoy the Expos hat! Alaska looks great.
I know this wasn't Canada, however America is beautiful its own right! It was awesome to see another part of our great country!❤

There’s a revolving restaurant atop the Space Needle. I’ve eaten there twice. Worth the trip.
Beautiful
I did this trip in 2001 and I MISS ALASKA!!
Love the flying fish! I have to see them.
Thank you! Amazing pictures and videos! Loved everything!
you went right through my hometown of Ventura at the beach! Cool to see my favorite surf spots
That Expo's cap is...chef's kiss.
This was really beautiful. I would love to do this one.
Me too. From Albuquerque NM .

At the 3:57 mark, their is an Amtrak sign that reads "September 5, 2020 9:40am." Did you guys go into a time warp?
Really enjoyed this video
Love to watch, love from Hong Kong
Looks like the LA part at least was filmed in September 2020, according to the platform sign.
This trip looks amazing. WHAT TIME OF YEAR IS THIS? I like the snow.
Great journey and beautiful views too.
Thanks.

The best view of Seattle is actually from Columbia Tower. You look down on the Space Needle. I think it is actually cheaper also.
Could I ask the total trip cost the way you guys traveled?
thank you for this video. It gave me more ideas on how to see Alaska
Greetings from Redondo Beach 🇺🇸🇺🇸One of my bucket list when I retire is to get on this Pacific Shoreline train to Alaska. Wonderful video. 🌷🌷
I was hoping you went from LA to ALaska
I am in Eugene OR would enjoy that trip
Thank you! Love your videos!
I rode Amtrak up to Seattle from Portland just about this time 2 years ago, to see Tommy James & The Shondells perform at a casino, and spend a day or two seeing the sights in and around the city 😀
Did you travel alone on this trip?
I still have anxiety from going up into the Space Needle and that was like 45 years ago…

Is Rob doing OK? He's very quiet!
We arrived in Fairbanks today! We drove our camper van up the Alaska Highway.
I am located in California and would love to take this trip. I have been to Alaska on a cruise but my husband has never been. He would love it there
I used to live out in Fairbank, Alaska for only a year though

Which is the best side of the train to travel up from LA?
When did you travel? I love all the snow in Alaska on the mountains

Hurricane Gulch looks scary as hell! No way would I be on the observation area looking out.
When looking for food around the port area of Seattle, try Premier Meat Pies on Pier 54.
When did you go on this trip? What time of year?
Wow what a great video. I have so many questions. How much was the price of the trip. In Alaska did you have to take a flight back.
Another awesome video you two!
Question, what month did you travel?
I am in the process of putting together my trip for next year. I still want views with snow, but not too brutally cold.
Thanks!😊
As they left Denali, Rob said it was May 16th--before the cruise tours started. That was why the train had 47 passengers instead of 400.
beautiful trip
