    A daunting task made to look easy... nice job with a result that will keep a smile on the Missus' face for sure! 👏👏👏👍🇬🇧

    Wonderful video. Straight to the point, and shows all the steps clearly. Just a bit of advice for some of the shots in the video: adding some more lights will make the video a little nicer, since your camera won't have to compensate for low lighting with ISO, thus yielding a sharper, clearer image. Otherwise well done!

    Great job with the internal routing. I think people worry too much about voiding a warranty on a frame. It's usually the components that fail on a bike, not the frame so go ahead and drill. I'm waiting for my cable grommets and I'm going to do the same thing.

    Thank you, just bought this dropper but seller doesn't provide manual with it.

    You should of pushed the wire threw first.Then put the rubber grommet on afterwards to make it less awkward.

    hey man, i have the same exact dropper and it doesn't lock in any position within travel, only top and bottom. if I stop the dropper halfway through it will slowly spring back up. do you have the same issue?

    • @fixitfallows
      @fixitfallows  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. So it's my wife's ride and she hasn't reported that issue to me..... I'll try to give it a go myself and report back.
      Are you sure that the cable fully releases the mechanism on the bottom of the post or that nothing is impeding the mechanism?

    is drilling holes in the frame won't compromise the structural integrity of the entire frame? Is this safe?

    • @fixitfallows

      Have a read of the previous comments about this point. Also, ask yourself how it is that frames built with internal cabling differ.
      Holes have to be created somewhere on a frame to route cables. It's just a question of the most appropriate location of said holes and the suitability of the frame material. For example very thin walled frame tubes will not have as much excess inherent strength, so "may" fail sooner under extreme load.
      So like everything it's a question of actual usage weighed up against the original intended/designed usage.

    Have you thought to use the hole for water bottle? I think its the best way to get into the frame.

    • @fixitfallows
      @fixitfallows  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, yes there are existing holes in the frame, but they are not necessarily where you want them to be in terms of cable entry locations and with out making them bigger would create undesirable cable entry angles. If you are going to have to alter the holes, then you may as well create new holes in more ideal positions.... plus continue to have the option of having a bottle cage. As ever, this is just my opinion and not an expression of fact. Good luck.

    Do you need to pump the dropper like the fork?

    • @fixitfallows
      @fixitfallows  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, these are sealed units, like the lock out units on the right side of forks.

      Thanks, this video is helpful, I'm planning to buy one and don't know how to pull the wire. And I learnt from this video, "Just drill it".

    That kind of hole size in the seat tube? Is it safe??

      As I said in the video, this bike doesn't get ridden hard.
      That said, I'm not actually aware of how much differently things are done on bikes that are sold with internal routing from the get go. If anyone knows, please share.
      One way or another, holes have to be made in the frame.

      Yes, of course it is. Although as I said in the video, this bike doesn't get ridden hard.

    Does it wiggle tho? The seat? Or not at all?

    • @fixitfallows
      @fixitfallows  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is no side to side play in it at all, which I was surprised about. They all seem to develop play over time though, just depends upon how much you use them I think.
      Fundamentally they are one tube sliding inside another along a flute / channel with nylon bushings to reduce the friction. Over time those bushings wear, hence the side to side play...... doesn't make the posts unusable though.

    How about the carbon frame?

    • @fwucku
      @fwucku 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldnt do a carbon frame

    • @fixitfallows
      @fixitfallows  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When doing this sort of thing it's always a leap of faith, a calculated gamble if you like. For some the perceived risks are too great. That's fine.
      That said, when it comes to carbon frames, I guess another consideration is the fact that the frame is most likely pretty expensive relative to an Aluminium frame. So aside from the structural issues, which personally I'm cool with, you need to be confident in your "engineering* abilities, as it could end being a costly exercise if it goes pear shaped.

    Those poor drill bits...try more pressure and less speed, with some lube or coolant next time. Your bits will thank you.
