    I heard a woman say ain't no good men out here. We are out here. Married is 1 reason. 2 is gardening. 3 The All Mighty has a beautiful love story for the two of you to meet. Great video my brother. That 1 melon can feed 1 person to get them to the blessing tomorrow. Much love from Florida my brother

    I planted bush sugar baby for the 1st time last year in 30+ gallon containers and wine barrels using bagged potting soil and some free compost that the city gives away. I had a total of 16 watermelons from 7 plants that ranged between 4-12 lbs. It was good and sweet and I was so proud of it! But nobody wanted to eat it because it had seeds in it. My family sucks. - Zee, N. Cali zone 10a

      To have a seedless watermelon, one would have to inject colchicine in the early stages of growth.

    I'm growing some of these this year. I can't wait. I got a bunch of 5 gallon frosting containers from my job And going to plant a few sugar babies this year for my daughter because she loves watermelon so much.
    Usually I do a lot of Baby Round Zucchini, Cherry tomatoes, carrots and lots of greens. Mostly Collards, Chard , Arugula but im going to try something new. Arugula Greens are amazing, they grow fast and abundant. Usually I harvest my chard leaves and wrap them around a bunch of arugula and chop them all together. They make for some very tasty greens.

    I really like the tomato trellis idea! I have some 20 gallon grow bags, how many watermelon plants do you think I can grow in there? I also have 10 gallon and 15 gallon, what do you think would be best to use?

    • @NJCALI
      @NJCALI  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, yes you can grow watermelon in 20 gallon container I would suggest 4 . In a 15 gallon two in a 10 gallon one you want the watermelon to have enough space to trellis up. Thanks for stopping by 😀

    Hello NjCali, I'm back. I need help I know I don't have the best used tools for my watermelon but I want to know how to transplant this? Do I put it in the ground? I'm referring to the black potted one on the ground with the great value forks lol.
    Can I put the WHOLE pot in a TOTE or I have to figure away to get this plant OUT of the black pot and into a bigger space (in this case I want it in a TOTE) its bigger but is it ideal? does it depend on which type of watermelon I'm growing?
    I don't want to damage the roots taking it out of the black pot so any advice? My first thought is drilling holes in my bigger round tote that kids put their toys in typically, put sticks at the base then my soil of choice, blood meal, earth worm castings, and perlite, should add that stuff or less? Let me know please, or anybody in the comments. the vines are spreading fast with regular watering. Oh yeah any idea why the leaves are browning ?

    How often does it need fertilizer or bone meal? the bone meal I use isn't powder and is a slow-release for 3 months. I was thinking of using worm casting to plant with and some compost and potting mix. Would the blood meal be added like fertilizer? Lastly, so it won't do well in full sun for 6-8hrs then is needs some shade? I have a south-facing garden that gets a lot of sun. Thanks for sharing!

    • @NJCALI
      @NJCALI  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will treat the bonemeal and blood meal as a slowly release fertilizer if you were to purchase a garden tone or all purpose. Or vegetable fertilizer you wouldn’t need to use bone meal or blood because it’s in added addition.however if you noticed not enough leaf growth or fruit development .that’s when you can add more of just the bone meal etc. compost and earth worm castings can be added in the whole but it’s better to too dress it as it actually feed the plant your growing shade cloth is a must especially since your garden is south facing . Happy Gardening 🧑‍🌾

      Hello, If you have your watermelon in seed trays. You can pot them up in a 4 inch nursery pot are you can purchase party cups from the dollar store. and use that than when the weather is warm enough after your last frost date start to place them outside early. in the morning until noon until your seed starts harden off. You can transplant it in a 5 gallon to 25 gallon containers or just in the ground. In this video we grow our watermelon in a 20 gallon container. I hope this help Happy Gardening 👩‍🌾

      @@NJCALI thanks !! I have them in small green 4x3 trays now and two others are in those jiffy cardboard material cups the smaller sized ones.
      It’s been raining on n off currently, maybe hot this weekend but only time will tell. I’m concerned about them keeping warm outside in pots vs under these grow lights all day. This is my first time ever with success of growing them and I’m excited , thankful, and ready for the next steps. Thanks for replying!
      I’m heading to Home Depot or Lowes today to pick up trellis’s? Perlite and fertilizer mix? It’s so many different kinds of stuff to pick from I don’t have the slightest clue yet.

      Hello I was able to see your video I would remove all the brown leaves as possible and place your watermelon full sun partial shade if you have a shade cloth that will work out fine I would not transplant the watermelon j that are in the five gallon containers just a trellis of some sort and the baby watermelon that it’s in the window box would be fine to transplant in the tote

      @@NJCALI thanks a lot! So leave the one in the black pot where it is and just give it more sun? I thought that’s what was causing them to brown burning the leaves haha but ok I’ll cut every leaf I see with brown right now thanks. I think that’s called pruning. I’m new to the field so I’m learning! Thanks a lot 👌🏾
