In this case, it is quite clear that the case was mishandled by the West Bengal government. The chief minister should not be taking out a rally when she is the executive head of the state, and the police comes under her purview. You can’t cry foul when you are in charge. The way the principal of this college was transferred to another medical college instead of being suspended shows that he had significant political patronage. the TMC has lost a great deal of credibility and has a lot to answer for.
It’s not the CM who decides what should be the punishment for the culprits. Her duty is to facilitate the investigation and enable the culprits to be brought to book. The principal should have been suspended immediately since he was the chief of the institution where the heinous crime occurred. The suspension was to make sure that he would not interfere with the investigation.
