My rule is "Always get as much information as is available". Thermal camera and freeze spay usage gives you valuable information. Even if the short is near a LSI heat source it is best to acquire as much information as you can get. You started off by stating "not to use thermal camera or freeze spray" and then you began guessing which capacitor might be the cause of the short. It wasn't until you gathered information via thermal camera and then freeze spray that you were able to make an accurate determination of which capacitor caused the short. Always get as much information as is available.

You could probably pinpoint the current component by shadowing the hot spot with tweezers while looking at the thermal camera.

Do you have to cover the capacitor place with green stuff before closing the phone ?

In my country, Norway, I believe iPhone 13 still would be on warranty, which is two years. A phone suddenly getting hot like this, anyway sounds like a huge fire risk, so should anyway have triggered an alert by Apple, so they check for a manufacturing flaw.

I need help. I would like to flash my IPhone XS on 3UTools to get it out of a bootloop, but it won't go in DFU mode. I'm trying one of you tutorials to force DFU, but the DFU point seems to be under the board and only accessible by detaching everything. Can you do a Force DFU for iPhone XS, or just show what can I do to force DFU from a point on top of the board? Please. I have 2 iPhone XS in this condition from full storage

Why it's pretty much always a dead capacitor? Are those capacitors super weak / low quality?

If you reduce de size of the voltage and current window, we could see better. Reduce it more than 50%. Thks.

The Sunshine squids are really crappy, I got one last year for the 12 series and it lasted 4 prompts-to-boot before it decided to short itself (the only chip on the board, doing the battery gauge i guess). I desoldered it completely but I don’t trust it anymore

Some consideration need to be made I think thats these packages are just too small to be reliable, at least if not placed very carefully. There are better designs of circuits that could prevent this, no idea why the electrical engineers who do these designs do not use them.

What about training an AI robot to do these iPhone iPad repairs, or just the AI tell the inexperienced tech what to do next and achieve a 99% success rate ??
