Best Value for Money Dive Watch - The Helm Komodo - Owner Review

  • It's amazing to me, with watch prices on the rise, and also Chinese brands competing in the microbrand space with homage watches (that are very well built btw) there are still companies like Helm that can offer a far superior watch, unique design with amazing build quality.
It's no secret why these watches are always sold out and there is a wait list a mile long. Whatever Helm is doing, they are doing it right, and watch enthusiasts are responding.
This watch may not be for you, but it is worth watching to see why Helm leads the pack in the microbrand space.
Enjoy this owners review of the watch as I share some of my personal experiences with the Helm brand.

110% agree as a Komodo owner. build quality is excellent, feel is solid. it is a certified diver with actually adjusted (cosc terms) Seiko movement. this company is a treasure and the fact they can offer customers the prices like that makes them heroes.

Thanks for review. I had reservations about the Komodo being too tall on wrist. But after I received mine and installed it on the bracelet I became a fan as well. For me, it’s the ultimate tool watch that wears great on wrist with the bracelet. Fit, finish, design all top notch.

Excellent video on the Komodo! I have several dive watches including the Komodo & this Helm is, by far, the most rugged, well built, toolish, Dive watch I have. Others are built for ‘show’, the Komodo is built to ‘go’….diving & go deep!!!
The other thing I love about Helm watches is how they can be “customized” by buying different straps, bracelets, & easy to change out bezels to personalize your Helm. You’ve got spare parts galore from Helm as well! I’m a believer!!!!

Built for so, build for "go!" That's a slogan they should use! I think it is great you can get interchangeable parts. So cool!

Got a Vanuatu and love it. Been looking at this since it first released and just don't quite get to buying it (second hand admittedly). I think it's the height. But I love the contours on it, lovely shape, colours. Great to hear good news customer service stories too. Had the same with a lot of micro brands. Love the content 👍

Thanks for the informative review. The thickness of it has been a concern of mine since getting on the wait list almost 2 years ago. And actually placed my order for the same watch today after receiving an email from Helm that I was able to finally purchase. This review eases my mind a bit and with a 7 3/4" wrist ot should work fine.
Haven't recieved shipping dates yet so I'm not sure how long it will take but looking forward to it. Thanks again! Cheers

Great video. I have this watch and it's great. I also have the IWC Aquatimer 2000 from which it's inspiration derived which is why the bezel is not angled. It is a hefty piece however and not for the weak.
An excellent watch however in all regards

@@threehandhunter . The aqautimer 2000 along with the Blancpain fifty fathoms was also one of the first to ever have a Saphire coated and luminous bezel . The lume however on both of those prices is stronger than the Helms. Value for m9ney though the Helm Hold a it's own well.

I got my Helm Komodo just before they started doing waiting lists, the website crashed as it usually does when they release a watch and they said they would try again in 3 days time but they began the sale again the next day and it was purely by chance i spotted this. Those that took them at their word and left it the 3 days only to find out they were all gone were rightly pissed which is probably why the waiting list system came about. I now have all 3 watches Helm have released and just put my name on the waiting list for their upcoming 4th release the Miyako which looks another really nice watch.

  • @atxplus
    @atxplus ปีที่แล้ว +1

I brought this watch because it was super thick. I'm not interested in fragile looking dress watches. I wanted a tool watch and this fits the bill exactly. The other thing I like about it, which exaggerates the thickness is the small bezel size. Just 40mm in diameter. The Bracelet scratches easily. The only complaint. But I like the fact it has no taper and the buckle is unashamedly big. If you want an effeminate watch go look elsewhere. But if you are a real man you need one of these

You need to see the rest of China. Hong Kong is a colony of the UK. Although the UK treats Hong Kong people with subtle contempt. Most Hong-Kong people don't identify themselves as Chinese. Even to the point of denying there ethnicity. Even my mom says she is Hong-Kong nese. How fucked up is that. She did marry a main landers. (That's what Hong Kongers call people who live in China but not in Hong Kong. As for me I was born in the UK but proudly identify as ethnically Chinese.
