Oil Filled Watches: What Makes Them Special? Horloscaphe Fluide NC003
Review of the Horloscaphe NC003. Oil filled watches are really cool quartz timepieces. They are known for their extreme legibility and water resistance. In this video I go over the Horloscaphe Fluide NC003, and other watch brands that have oil filled watches and discuss what makes them so unique.
Here is a link to the NC003:

My First (and maybe my last) San Martin Watch - SN0129GB Aventurine GMT

San Martin Aventurine NH34 GMT Watch SN0129GB review. I have been skeptical of San Martin, as I am not a huge "homage" fan, but I was intrigued by one of their original designs. And, the build quality did not disappoint. But, what's my issue with San martin watches? Take a look and find out. BTW, this is my personal opinion, and I would love to hear yours.

Did Seiko Recreate the "Magic" of the SNXS79? - comparing the SRPK89 to the legendary SNXS79

Today we have a side by side comparison, and I think the new version is pretty damn nice. Come check out this side by sid...

    I do love that it’s thinner but why did the make the crown so small ! I don’t get it….. I really want to purchase this watch but that vintage crown size similar to many Oris diver 65 models I own can’t be over looked for a vintage diver reissue. I hope they can change this but I doubt they ever will.

    I would like a regular model, with no affiliation. As someone who served, many years ago, I think it is out of place and disrespectful to wear a watch with a specific insignia-if I didn’t serve in it. There is a Gsar with the name of a special unit from my country- but even that I would be ashamed to wear.

    I own a sinn gsg9 and it had to go back to sinn for a battery change because it has to be refilled at the same time.. Why don’t these companies use a solar quartz movement instead ??

    • @threehandhunter
      @threehandhunter 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's a great question, and the only thing I can come up with would be the lack of torque on solar watches? Or perhaps maybe adjusting the movement to compensate for the oil? I am not sure, but great question!

    • @jamesblonde2271
      @jamesblonde2271 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Cos nailing a capacitor onto a quartz manufacture is more expensive & when the capacitor needs replacing in 10 or 20 years the movement is junk.

    • @jamesblonde2271
      @jamesblonde2271 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The issue with oil filled watches is torque. With standard quartz movements have so little motive power that heavy hands & chunky lume can hurt timekeeping & battery life. As you can imagine puhing your hands through even a light silicone adds wear. Ressanse have solved this issue, 7 years is a good number tho.

    So you dont like the design, do not like that this is not 100% an original design, you dont like the fact that you're not intimately in tune with SM's corporate brass, especulate that the CEO wears a smart watch and for that you diminish him, and seem to think that unlike Seiko, SM which does listen to their customers and youtubers and you think that's bad. And then you add the final blow against SM by saying it lacks soul. Seriouly? How long have you been a watch enthusiast? How long have you been reviewing watches? Have you taken a close look at many of the microbrands? Because if you have most of your rant can be applied against most of them. Most os your rant can be applied against some of the well established brands too. And, i dont own SM stock, nor am i affiliated to them in any way shape or form. While i respect your opinion, i find it not to hold a lot of weight or be very convincing. I think you need to put design aside as whetherornot liking the look of a watch is very subjective. Focus on specs, build quality, fit and finish, warranty, customer service, packaging, value for money. If you grade SM on these i think you'll find they make great watches, not perfect, but damn good. If homages is what boils your blood, then you will hate many microbrands. BTW, you will also hate huge global brands like Seiko. Take a look at the Seiko SSK023...what does it look like? lol - hint, a particular Rolex. Sorry for my own rant, i just think yours is pointless.

    It frustrates me to hear takes like this, especially when “soul” isn’t even clearly defined. If by “soul” you mean brand identity, story, or raison d’être… or even just marketing messaging… I think the critique of San Martin boils down to their lack of a cohesive brand connection with Western audiences.

That’s fair, but I’d argue it’s a cultural disconnect rather than an absence of identity.

Compared to classic Chinese brands like Sea-Gull or FIYTA, which resonate deeply with their home market, San Martin’s approach feels more functional than emotional. It’s like Chinese takeout tailored for foreigners versus authentic dishes made for Chinese diners.
 All this said, I’m tired of the hype-driven nonsense from brands claiming to have “soul.” Take the recent Revelot x Bahati Hexmariner Mahjong drop: I loved the design, connected with it as an Asian American, and I really wanted one. I loved the idea of wearing something out and about that I really connected with on a cultural level.

 But the relentless marketing, artificial scarcity, and exclusivity made it impossible to get. “Soul” these days often boils down to manufactured frustration, leaving genuine enthusiasts out and rewarding bots and resellers. I’m sick of this hypebeast culture that passes for "soul" these days.

 In contrast, San Martin’s straightforward approach feels refreshing. They offer well-built, reasonably priced watches for anyone who wants one. Instead of buying into a prepackaged story or exclusivity, I’ll take a San Martin, wear it through life, and let my experiences give it a soul.

    Many thanks, would have been a complete review if your wrist size had been clearly stated as a reference to observe what is often considered problematic with the lug to lug measurement of this case design. Please?

      7.25 in wrist. Ugh, always forget some detail!

    Does it make any sense to use same movement through out the varied price range and still brag about the style for the sake of doing it....😒

    The review is very good however the ‘’ search for a soul ‘’ with this or other San Martin is not to be found as we have many human beings that operate without consciousness and demonstrate in their primal behavior a lack or total reality of no soul therefor the search for an object a ‘’ thing ‘’ with this watch or anything that is man made in finding some sort of soul is far fetched.. You may find more of a ‘’ soul ‘’ in a next door neighbor dog if you do have a next or close by neighbor that has a dog..!! Thank you for your review as it does bring your human aspect of a ‘’ soul ‘’ within..

    I think this San Martin is a fantastic looking watch with great specs and would purchase it just for that reason. Trying to find a soul in a timepiece before I purchase, is beyond the pail to me.

    Microbrands also use designs from other established companies as well.. no soul.. you are just bashing them because they are Chinese and high quality for the price. Tudor is no soul? Uses vintage Rolex designs...

      Like most watch enthusiasts that have loved watches for over 40yrs and knowingly am aware that no one gives two shits about what is on your wrist except the person wearing it means this: soul=I don’t feel good or enjoy wearing it.

    I thought it was a good video man so thank you. You were fair to the watch and got your opinion across well, generating some disagreement in the comments isn’t bad. Personally I think trying to give the customers what they want is a great attitude which you don’t see so much now in the west, but I’m also looking forward to seeing the first Chinese brand that owns the engineering heritage they have now which they could rightly be proud of, rather than going with faux-European brand names etc.

      I agree with that. And I think Chinese have a lot to offer. It just so happens it is half my heritage. I’d love to see some Chinese watch enthusiasts brand get some originality as well. The Singaporeans are doing a fantastic job at it. Look at Boldr, RZE, Horizon, etc!
