Neither side made the Grand Final, but this was easily the best match of the finals series. St George put in the best performance from a losing side that I can remember. When we won that, I thought there was no way any other team could stop us. I'm sure we would have won Prem 7 that year had Locky played in the prelim against Manly.
Thanks bro from a Broncos fan Locky is definitely up there I also have to highly rate Cam Smith and JT definitely and Cronk is another one too proved he could do well outside of Storm won 2 grandfinals back to back
Zmart 30 never really been a Johns fan but yeah I have to admit he was a great player I wasn’t trying to say he wasn’t I just named my favourites but yeah he is up there as well
I remember watching this game and getting goosebumps, it didn't matter to me that he wasn't going to play next game, nor did it matter that the Broncos wouldn't make it much further, the script was written perfectly.
First touch in the NRL was a try assist in 95, last touch was a golden point field goal in a 2011 sudden death semi, plus a few good touches in between
I remember this game like it was yesterday. The roar from the crowd was deafening. St George supporters were walking out speechless. They were all in shock and awe as I was. Darren Lockyer....King of the Broncos.
this is why he will one day take his place as an immortal. The ability to pull games out of the fire, even when the oppersition know he is the go to man for the big play. Under all sorts of pressure you can count on this champion to get the team through.
I'm not a fan of the Broncos but Darren lockyer earned my respect not only as a player but as a person too, an absolute top bloke, defiantly one of the best ❤❤❤
😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I just wanna thank you for making my childhood more fun. You r like a role model to many, a superstar and a legend. Thanks so much from Papua New Guinea
Darren Lockyer! My Favorite rugby player! The introduction of this video was perfect, special brought tears to my eyes..;( Darren Locker and Wayne Bennet are Legends respectively!! RESPECT!!
Idk why but I always have goosebumps watching Darren Lockyer and watching what he does his a strong individual player that's why he was one of the best
2.36, Bennett’s eyes and expression shows him realising this is the last time he runs out at home. What a champion and forever the best number 6, to play the game :)
Captain of club, state and country all in the one year to victory - automatically gets the nod over AJ as an immortal- how is he even considered before DL???
Totally agree. It's because Andrew Johns is the golden boy of NSW Rugby League. He openly admitted to taking drugs, kept his job, and was inducted as an Immortal. Great player, but when deciding on an Immortal, they should take into account their actions away from the game as well. That way, maybe people like Dugan and Carney will clean up their act off the field. Wouldn't surprise me if Prince Gallen was inducted.
Lads, Union is the real Rugby when will you fellaz take your love for Rugby to the next level .... I was once a League fan but once I got older and wiser - Union has more ways to score , more competition, and more followers and more entertainment
Jo please, that’s lockyer. He’s known as the chemist here in brissy. Bennet protecting his players, the worst kept secret. My uncle literally saw locky and his mates set up lines on the counter at the Caxton in 2008. Massive druggo
this was the year that could have been for brisbane. Lockyer missed the rest of the finals and the broncs just missed out. In the end, not a bad way to go out for the legend Lockyer.
Was the best fullback in the game, was the best runnng 5/8 in the game and then finished the ultimate on field general. Can’t really do any better than that.
Im not a Broncos fan or a Wayne Bennett and Darren Lockyer fan but I know they are very good at rugby league as player and coach Im a Warriors fan through the good and bad times but I know this is a beautiful tribute to them both Darren and Wayne. Have a good retirement Darren Lockyer
My dad once told me, when Wally Lewis retired we thought we would never come across such of an amazing player who could fill his boots, then Lockyer came along and stood up and created his own Legacy. Once Lockyer retired we asked ourselves maybe it's just a 2 of a kind thing. but now I'm starting to wonder if Ben Hunt could be the next one to fill in them boots that Lockyer and King Lewis left behind. Only time can tell I guess.
The funny thing is, if this game was played in this era, he is off the field for a HIA and misses the rest of the game and we don’t get this finish that is footy folklore.
I was in Nashville, Tennessee last year. After the show I went to a Waffle House. I'm not proud of it, I was hungry. And I'm alone, I'm eating and I'm reading a book, right? Waitress walks over to me: 'Hey, whatcha readin' for?' Isn't that the weirdest fuckin' question you've ever heard? Not what am I reading, but what am I reading FOR? Well, goddamnit, ya stumped me! Why do I read? Well . . . hmmm...I dunno...I guess I read for a lot of reasons and the main one is so I don't end up being a fuckin' waffle waitress
I’m not a Bronco supporter but.....I’m a Darren Lockyer supporter. He’s a beauty, thanks for the years of entertainment Locky.

@MAN UTD Free Neddy Smith!
No one was stopping us if we had Locky, he is the ultimate clutch player.
I'm a Melbourne supporter but he is the greatest player ever lived.
jordie ATR Andrew Johns is
Either Andrew Johns or JT
Thanks bro from a Broncos fan Locky is definitely up there I also have to highly rate Cam Smith and JT definitely and Cronk is another one too proved he could do well outside of Storm won 2 grandfinals back to back
CP CP what about Andrew Johns? He has to be up there

It did matter that he wasn't going to play because with him in the squad they had a real shot at premiership
@J. Al Go tell someone that cares. Man United sucks 😂
If he played I reckon we would have won that year but sadly things happen
@MAN UTD Free Neddy Smith!
:locky wasnt the fastest or the strongest on the field, but he easily had the biggest heart. Queenslands favourite son. HAIL LOCKYER!!!
BIG heart
Lockyer

ledend always set record in their history thanks Darren for your wonderful entainment
Long time Balmain fan - since 1966 - but Lockyer is the best I ever saw. Thanks for the chance to see this.
I am a Broncos supporter and proud Queenslander
Great player
Absolute legend. Almost in tears

I'm not a fan of the Broncos but Darren lockyer earned my respect not only as a player but as a person too, an absolute top bloke, defiantly one of the best ❤❤❤
Particularly the people in Papua New Guinea, yep we're mad fans of NRL.
I'm a NSW Blues supporter but this brings me tears to my being a Darren Lockyer fan.
I was shaking after Darren got that Drop goal. Feel so lucky to have been at such a memorable game of football.
I'm a NSW man , Lockyer has to made an immortal!!
😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I was behind the posts when it just made it over crossbar. One of the best moments in sport I seen the crowd went off. Locky a LEGEND
2.36, Bennett’s eyes and expression shows him realising this is the last time he runs out at home.
What a champion and forever the best number 6, to play the game :)
what a player what a legend there is no better player who can make an effect on his team mates as he can n did
The game died for me after he left.

DentGaming MC DentGaming MC Pretty sure you have to be retired for 5 years before you are considered for immortal status
Because he was more dominant. Both immortals anyway, but AJ was more dominant as a player.......just.
@@Jetball74 yeah more dominant at popping pingas the scumbag puts a bad name on the sport that's why AFL is more popular now
Matt Gillet you reckon he was the only one popping pills? You’re delusional
what a tremendous player he was and he is in the top tier of the greatest players of all time
Greatest of all..thanks for the clip ❤❤
Thank you Darren for all the memories.you are the man.
Darren Lockyer! Very very talented, and super super humble😀❤💪
Goosebumps...
Lol
i really cant see how this video only has 342 views, its great, it should at least be in the hundred thousands!!
Wait...holy shit it's been 6 fucking years
Hell yeah the Broncos legend and my favourite Brisbane player of all time DL.
I maintain even until today that they would have gone all the way if Lockyer didn’t get injured!
michael, lockyer could not have asked for better script than this!!!..thanks for sharing and introducing to this beautiful game!!...
Lockyer was my favourite Qld player i have seen play...... Him, Minichiello and Fittler in my opinion are the best i have seen play
you think Mini and Fitler were better than Joey?
i would say joey was better but not by far
but all four of them are absolute legends of the game
all of the goals all of the trys all of the feald goals we miss you lockyer we all do like if you miss him
yep
Lockyer your a great player 😔😔😔😔ITS like my heart is dead
Like a boss lockyer
Humble man. Earned respect from all NRL fans.
I miss him so much😭😥😭
Look at the Broncos now. Feels bad man.
Just emotional to see this.
This was an awesome game, I remember one of the commentators saying it was the game of the year. I agree
Turn on closed captions and go to the field goal called live. Even the subtitles knows what its talking about
won of the best games I've ever been to
Thank you for your irrelevant opinion
You are very welcome sir.
Mihails Laskovs haha ur a funny smart ass and the guy that can't spell go back to school so they can tell u which one to use in a sentence

I believe Wayne Bennett is Darren Lockyers dad! They look similar and have the same personality!
