- A video produced by Cathy O'Dowd's sponsor, MoraBanc, about her part in the team that did the first ascent of Nanga Parbat via the Mazeno ridge, in summer 2012.
The video footage comes from the access ridge, between 5000 and 6500 metres. The still photos come from the Mazeno ridge and above.

@Ike Mike nanga parbat is in pakistan :D
@Ike Mike be happy to have you in Pakistan. Pakistan is home to 5 out of 14 8000+ meters peaks. I recently visited nanga parbat base camp where I met english, irish, malaysian ,Taiwanese and german peoples. You must visit Pakistan ,you will have a memorable time here.
@Ike Mike Welcome
Yes nanga parbat is in pakistan but they always need guidance of sherpas to climb any 8000 meters mountains..that women is proud for what she have achieved but sherpa do it for the living..love from nepal to pakistan

Fabulous photography and views. I really enjoyed this account. Thank you. Scary knife edge line to the top
Wonderful narration of one the best Expedition in Human History.. Congratulations Ma'am.
Looks like a super intense, long, exposed traverse at high altitude! What an awesome achievement. Trudging through deep snow with exposure on either side for that long at such an altitude is insane!
Namga Parbat feels proud when people like you try to discover her beauty
Breathtaking viewS of the mountain ranges. Pakistan has the best mountain views. I am planning a trek next year starting from Tarashing across Mazeno Pass, Loiba Meadows, Zangot, Chillas; Looking forward to it.
Amazing adventure . I always have great respect for mountains for they take human sacrifices who come volunteering to give it chance to win a foot place on the summit or offer their lives for the summit. Proud of you Cathy.
Amazing Cathy people like you showed us those incredible places if i can get amazed seeing through video i can imagine how incredible it would have been being personally there
Teamwork at its best. Selflessness is key to this extraordinary achievement. And Cathy is v eloquent. Hope she achieves more success.
This must be the longest route above 7000m to a summit. Does anybody know a longer route?
This is really just for top level mountaineers. Congratulations.
Ya such a unique route
Amazing, thanks for the video! Im sure that was one hell of an experience.
you people are amazing!!! hats off to you and your team. forget about foot path in sky i never walked 13 km on foot path on ground. :-P
how wonderful and amazing attempt to summit. Bravo
Wow... nastiest mountain in the world, offers the most spectacular views in the world.....what could be better?
That was awesome. I hiked Squaw Peak in Phoenix yesterday and I thought I would keel over and die! Its like a 45 minute to the top I really need to get in shape! Nanga Parbat next!
In love with this mountain. It's the most beautiful mountain in the world. BEAUTIFUL PAKISTAN.

Nanga Parbat is full of lovely, mystery and surprises... The most deadliest mountain in the world.. No wonder nanga Parbat is called as a killer mountain

Pretty amazing achievement, so many great climbers tried the ridge like icon Doug Scott, and Alberto Zarain, just died in an avalanche on the ridge this last June

The best climbing mountain in the world..
Proud to be Pakistani..
I take it you've climbed it????
Sandy Allen is a fantastic climber and guide. He did fantastically well to get someone like Cathy O’Dowd, really an affluent client, so high up the ridge.
Incredible footage! congratulations to all participants! ps: what's the name of the song starting at 2:00?
One of the greatest himalayan climb ever ..
Impressive Achievement & Presentation too 😚
'...right here right now, this is my life'.
Sending my respect & regards.
Geez, that ridge is way too long! Imagine if someone broke down half way across? What do you even do with that person? That was a daring expedition.
Cathy you are brave!
Nanga parbat is called killer mountain and k2 is second tallest mountain in the world 14 peaks above 8000 meter located in pakistan

Flew around this mountain and it's big I mean proper Massive...
Nanga parbat definitely a killer mountain...
But Nanga Parbat is still can not be climbed from Fairy meadows side...
One of the most dangerous and deadly peaks in the world...
Ur efforts are appreciateable u guy's have done such a great job
I'm saying this coz I'm from Fairy Meadows
The route must be intense
13km long ridge its insane
Is she only to successfully reach there?
beautiful Pakistan!
ALI sadpara still missing on k2 summit 2021
Herman Buhl would be proud of your accomplishment.....I think
Cathy, if you're reading this, did you or were you able to see K2 from the top of Nanga Parbat?!!! (Or is it possible?!!)
its impossible.... K2 is really really far away Nanga Parbat and is surrounded by several other 7000 and 8000 m peaks....
Brian Sam k2 is in the karakoram range and Nanga Parbat is in Himalayas that r in the south of Karakoram.
Rija Malik, I am aware that K2 is in the Karakoram Range (the Indus River divides the two mountain ranges) from what I've read and heard, it can be seen from a distance, but I was just wondering if she (Cathy) saw it from the top of Nanga Parbat.
From the summit of Nanga Parbat you are able to see K2, Broad Peak and the other high peaks in Karakoram. Of Courage you need Clearstream visibility
You can see K2 from the summit only in clear weather. Also at such a height there is fog even in summer.
Do you know from base to top nanga parbat is tallest mountain in the world..
4700M nanga parbat
4345 k2
3900 Mount Everest
?
Thanku dear you information everyone
Wonder full friends
How can u walk on mazeno ridge 13km long Ridge thats insane.. Nanga parbat is biggest and tallest mountain frm BC 4.6km high.. Everst is 3km. K2 is 3.9km from BC
Pakistan is heaven on earth, you are luck are be there,
This is our beautiful ❤️❤️ PAKISTAN
I dont think anyone realised that, thanks for pointing that out
Very, very dangerous... I hold my breath much of this video, because I know that nature can finish the climber anytime like it's waiting for the first mistake that will be the last. I am glad that all members not only came home, but whole and healthy.
At least you avoided avalanches. That’s the biggest killer on Nanga.
Well, truly Bravo for you girl/ guys. Teamwork is so rare in mountain climbing these days.
RIP Daniel Nardi & Tom Ballard (Mummery Spur challengers)
A great feat.
Not lending your radio is beyond selfish it’s criminal
Do sponsors pay climbers when they return?
How much it cost for this kind of expeditions?
It depends on how much youre willing to spend, there are two main types of climbing , alpine and expedition . alpine means you do it yourself with as little as possible gear to do it quickly. expedition means you bring sherpas and tables and all sorts of stuff and ofcourse pay for the expedition members. Do you deposit 10 000 dollars for an eventual helicopter rescue ? somewhere between 50-150 000 dollars is the range roughly
u r wonderful
Welldone
They says u hv to die if u want to go heaven she does without die
Hi Cathy! What's the name of the soundtrack from 00:13 till 01:10?
Proud to being a Pakistani

Cataloging Nanga Parbat Aka Diamer.
Messner in his prime would do that Solo.
Best you stay home to make
Baby it's safer
Hey Cathy did you pass anyone dying that you ignored? If someone had an ingrown toenail you would ignore it and think of an excuse for you not being able to do anything..
You people need to quit blaming her for other people that die on mountains. They die everyday and she could nothing for the woman ..you fool
She didn't even summit that day you fool.. Do your research. She stopped and try to help but could hardly pick her up and carry her down. As well where was her husband by the way? You clowns know nothing about altitude
Here are my coordinates for likes like you to save me life...27.9881° N, 86.9250° E OK?
Ignored? Do you even know the story?
H
Pakistanis be like thy hv big mountains 😂
We are proud to be Pakistani 😡🙏
Plz stop this nonsense
Is this the same Cathy O’Dowd as the 1996 South African Everest expedition member? What a horrible human being.
FD why is she a horrible human being?
Cathy is a remarkable and courageous woman. You shouldn't be making harsh judgements. You have no idea about what it was like to be there on Everest.
Kumorianne Actually I do
@@fdg92 so in the same weather conditions, with the same team, with the same equipment? With the same expedition?
Kumorianne Obviously not same team, she and Ian left Bruce there. He died. And i don’t climb with incompetent narcissists. Stop mouthing off if you don’t know what you’re talking about. I know lockdown breeds boredom. Why don’t you read more
