Me too ! When I went to a local drive in to see "Big Bad Mama" in 1974 I remembered Susan Sennett from this short lived syndicated sitcom ! In "Big Bad Mama" she played one of the sexy & promiscuous daughters of bank robber Angie Dickinson (it was set in the 30s). I found "Ozzie's Girls" to be wholesome but corny.
How many noticed in the beginning of the show that Ozzie answered the phone when it didn't even ring! I guess Ozzie must of known there was a "Call Waiting"!!! LOL
Wrong! lol. Pay closer attention. After the opening credits you briefly see the words “Sponsor’s Message”, then at 0:43 the first image you see is of the telephone with the words “Written by Ozzie Nelson” onscreen - and right at that moment the phone begins to ring. Blink and you’ll miss it, but the phone indeed rings before Ozzie says “are you expecting a phone call?”
I loved their older show & was excited to see a new show come out with O & H! I was only in the 4th grade, but I loved watching this show during family time! The Nelson Family enriched & touched so many lives! I hope they got to feel all our love, admiration & gratitude! ♥️🌹🌿
Very sad ozzie did not live long after starting this show. I learned he made 24 of ozzie girls before he passed away. This show would have lasted for years. Check out his tv home nothing inside was cheap furniture lamps drapes etc. Were the best. Even the plants and flowers were real. RIP the whole nelson family. Too bad that america is gone forever.

The first episode was the original pilot for the series. It was "burned off" by NBC on September 10, 1972, after they passed on it. However, there was enough interest (as Ozzie mentioned in his 1973 autobiography) for him to produce it for first-run synducation in the fall of 1973. It was produced on videotape, because it was cheaper to do it that way than film. 24 episodes were produced, but Ozzie decided to end the series after one season, in 1974. Apparently,, he wasn't feeling well- and had malignant cancer tumors towards the end of his life. He finally died of liver cancer on June 3, 1975.
Filmways and NBC never had that much in common as their bigger shows were on CBS. Our CBS affiliate in Cleveland WJW picked this up for syndication 7:30 on Wednesdays cuz that's when O & H were on ABC last.
An updated version of Ozzie and Harriet today would be Ozzie's Non-binary. Ozzie's liver cancer was developing at this time, but caught it too late, died at age 68. It's ironic that Ozzie did PSA's on his show , 20 years earlier, to fight cancer. Besides good health habits, best way to fight cancer are through regular blood tests and imaging to catch it in an early stage.

i've been on an the adventures of ozzie and harriet kick all summer and fall and this is where it leads.

I never knew this 70s version existed. The girls are in their 60s if they are still alive. A lot of people don't live to be in their 60s.
They are both still alive though, according to IMDB, neither of them acts any longer. Susan Sennett, the blonde girl, later married Graham Nash.
