ALL his Mindcrime covers are so insanely epic. You can't tell the difference between his parts and the album.. iv'e never said that about any musician! drums, bass or guitar.. BUT he didn't write them. Awesome covers!
Excellent. One of my favorite chord progressions EVER, is in the verse when he sings, "Is this all thats left of my life before me" It flows so amazing with everything it gives me fuckin chills. Killer job dude!
This album is a masterpiece, one of my desert island albuns. Score for guitar parts are rare and low quality. You did an amazing job. Just to watch is fun, learn some parts, even better. Thanks for your effort.
I just binged all the playlist, and came here where I stand with respect. Thank you for giving this masterpiece of an album the fairest treatment ever. I haven't had this much fun watching cover videos for the longest time. Well done mate, well done.
absolutely beautiful playing, you earned another subscriber today! :) been loving this album since 1988, thanks Justin Brown for loaning me that cassette tape in 6th grade!
Spock The Vulcan Thanks ever so much dude! I’m not everyone’s cup of tea but i’m glad a lot of people are getting enjoyment from the vids! Thanks for your support 🤘
Well done! You do these amazing songs justice. I saw them on the Warning and Rage tours when I was just a kid. I tried to learn some of their songs as budding guitarist, but never got close to what they were doing. The chords, the textures were and still are so fresh and innovative. So cool to see what they were doing through your excellent work. Glad you were able to repost these! Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much man! Their guitar lines truly are a work of art and I'm glad you think I've done them justice! Thanks for the watch, and feel free to check out the rest of my QR covers (including the rest of Operation Mindcrime!)
Hey man thanks for covering Mindcrime. Its been a great pleasure watching it come to life. Im truly a fan of what youve accomplished with your playing. It was as good as watching them in concert.
I just sat through the entire album and my mind is blown! This has been a favorite of mine since I first heard it and you do the entire thing flawlessly. It was a real joy watching you and listening. I got sucked into the story, like I always do, and couldn't if it wasn't spot on.
+mfournier01 Nice one mate! Yeah, I love that Taylor - I should probably invest in a proper mic to get the best out of it, but this didn't come out too bad!
Teardrops falling and goosebumps for a truly masterpiece in the progressive heavy metal history. No words for this rendition of the soundtrack of my 18's.. Thanks for this superb cover, there isn't a single wrong note. Bravo Bravissimo.
No matter how many times I bring this up, I know everybody will likely agree with me on this that this is a masterpiece of the dual guitar work of Michael Wilton and Chris DeGarmo At its best, because eyes of a stranger is the one song I will consider the best masterpiece of their dual guitar shredding
Alex is IMO the Best Representation of These ...Bar None Details ...Tone, Vibrato,Harmonics,as well as Very Easy to Follow Efficiency of Motion .. Bravo Maistro
Absolutely lovin the Saxondale Tshirt. By far Steve Coogan's greatest creation. Power to the Stang. Oh yeh, the playing. Spot on dude. You could've roadied for Led Zeppelin :-)
Ian Edwards YES! Fuck the playing, this one was all about the shirt! Love it when people recognise it, fellow cooganites 🤘Thanks for watching, shine on you crazy diamond
I have enjoyed Live Crime for much of my life. I have never had the pleasure of seeing them in concert but being a guitarist myself; i truly enjoy what you have done. You are very talented and I respect watching you play!
+Alex Ward only thing I could find any kind of fault with is in the outtro itself... after the second run through you go back to the 1st riff, then play the second again to the fade out... That's a minor quibble though.
Another flawless performance! As I said over on "Speak", I just think the backing track should be a bit more faint because you're so dead-on that it's difficult to hear your part over DeGarmo's (and/or Wilton) part.
Great tune! I did actually learn it years back but never did a video - it actually fluctuates a little tuning wise as the song progresses so if I did it it would probably be the live version from the Building Empires tour! Thanks for watching and the compliments!
Really...why give the dude thumbs down??? You do better out there and put the time and talent into it. Dude's AWESOME. I'd like to smoke one and watch the dude play...he plays it way better than I...
Thanks for the kind words man and thanks for watching! My playing and edits aren't everyones cup of tea, but thats cool - all of this was mainly for my own enjoyment and love of the album/band! As Janick Gers famously said 'If people like it, thats cool, if people don't thats also cool!' (paraphrasing a bit there haha!)
Thank You. If I was a little more computer literate, I could make some videos and give back To some of you guys that I've been learning so much from. In fact maybe I'll google that!! actually start giving back. LOL Thganks Alex
Thanks man, I appreciate the view and compliment! It's not outside the realms of possibility, I get a lot of requests for lessons, but it's all down to how much time I have on my hands. I'm more inclined to do a cover than a lesson - as I say though, I may get around to it :)
Yeah that was fun to watch bro I saw them tour this record They opened for Metallica /And Justice for All tour Saw them several times after that Saw them play that entire record a few times They were in their prime
Thanks man! Most of Empire is on here I think, but it wasn't done particularly high quality, just me and my old digital camera haha - think the only ones that aren't up are Della Brown and Anybody Listening? but the solos of AL are on my facebook.com/alexwardguitarist page! Maybe one day I'll do the whole lot properly! There's a full guitar cover of Jet City Woman on here which is audio only where I played all the bits too which you might like to check out! Thanks for supporting my playing!
Please... tab out what you're doing in that fast run at the top of the solo! It's the hardest part of the whole thing, you're making it sound exactly like the record, but even at slow speed I can't quite see what you're doing!
Matthew Murray Thanks Matthew! I’m actually using an Axe Fx 2 - the patch I made (if I remember rightly) was a Friedman BE going into a Marshall cab and for the solos a delay and tune screamer set with no drive and full level. There’s some chorus and delay on the cleans (think that was a fender model of some kind). Hope that helps!
Matthew Murray That’s a huge compliment mate, thanks very much! I’m an absolute Ryche nut and I would say they are my biggest influence when it comes to songwriting- the way the guitar parts work together is so important and so I try to get as close as possible (unfortunately no matter of much I will it I am not chris Degarmo ;) )
The Best album of them.. A masterpiece.. From 1988..
It is phenomenal for sure, thank you for watching!
I’ve been listening to this for the last 35 years!
By far and away the best guitar cover I’ve heard of this song. Great job.
ALL his Mindcrime covers are so insanely epic. You can't tell the difference between his parts and the album.. iv'e never said that about any musician! drums, bass or guitar.. BUT he didn't write them. Awesome covers!

Υeah very simple riffing yet so effective and strong .
Crushing tones
Agreed!!!

Well done mate, well done.
Best rendition I have ever heard. Fantastic.
That is by far the best cover on the Internet, and trust me, I have listened to all of them. Great job my friend.
absolutely beautiful playing, you earned another subscriber today! :) been loving this album since 1988, thanks Justin Brown for loaning me that cassette tape in 6th grade!
How anyone could give this a thumbs down is beyond my comprehension. You nailed it dude.
Spock The Vulcan Thanks ever so much dude! I’m not everyone’s cup of tea but i’m glad a lot of people are getting enjoyment from the vids! Thanks for your support 🤘
Some Goofball...Lol

YOUR ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS... WOW!
I just sat through the entire album and my mind is blown! This has been a favorite of mine since I first heard it and you do the entire thing flawlessly. It was a real joy watching you and listening. I got sucked into the story, like I always do, and couldn't if it wasn't spot on.
This was the cherry on top. I went thru every song. Great job. Keep it up. Looking forward to more covers.

ukshrednoodle Thanks so much! I’m glad they help!
Well if you do a lesson it will be the best there is. Absolutely knock out job on this. Loved it!
This is the best cover on TH-cam for sure. Tone is nailed
Perfect....amazing tone as usual Alex. Nice 12 string too :)
+mfournier01 Nice one mate! Yeah, I love that Taylor - I should probably invest in a proper mic to get the best out of it, but this didn't come out too bad!
Good job Tyler.......as always, excellentay!
Absolutely amazing playing! This is my all time favorite song. Thank you.
Teardrops falling and goosebumps for a truly masterpiece in the progressive heavy metal history. No words for this rendition of the soundtrack of my 18's.. Thanks for this superb cover, there isn't a single wrong note. Bravo Bravissimo.
Wow what a lovely thing to say! Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Absolutely perfect tone!
Why does this only have 26k views?? What a great video! Great chops! QR is not an easy band to cover but, you nailed it. \m/ \m/
wow, nice work, your previous version helped me a lot, but the changes on this one sounds awesome! Thx
Just seen this comment and your version - nice man! Thanks for the compliments and the support mate!

I have enjoyed Live Crime for much of my life. I have never had the pleasure of seeing them in concert but being a guitarist myself; i truly enjoy what you have done. You are very talented and I respect watching you play!
Scott Jenkins Wow thanks very much Scott, that’s a huge compliment and it’s greatly appreciated! No doubt, Livecrime is a killer show!
such great stuff here ALEX !!!!!!!RESPECT.....
Thanks so much Steve!
Dead. Fucking. ON. Much respect, man! 🎸⚡️🎸
Awesome! That's the first time I have seen exactly whats going on with the outro, which is my favorite part of the song. This album is a masterpiece.
Glad you liked it! This is all done by ear/watching live stuff from the era so I'm not sure how accurate it is, but I think it's close! Thanks again!
+Alex Ward only thing I could find any kind of fault with is in the outtro itself... after the second run through you go back to the 1st riff, then play the second again to the fade out... That's a minor quibble though.
Totally brilliant cover. nice work
Another flawless performance!
As I said over on "Speak", I just think the backing track should be a bit more faint because you're so dead-on that it's difficult to hear your part over DeGarmo's (and/or Wilton) part.
This has got to be your favorite album!
Wow, perfect! Love that song
Outstanding!
I love watching these Operation:MIndcrime videos man. Just an amazing job! Do you ever think of doing Roads to Madness? I'd love to see that
Great tune! I did actually learn it years back but never did a video - it actually fluctuates a little tuning wise as the song progresses so if I did it it would probably be the live version from the Building Empires tour! Thanks for watching and the compliments!
Great cover ! Bravo et merci
Thank you!
“Nailed it” is an understatement
Really kind of you, thank you!
Hey Alex,
Superb!!
Thanks Mark!
DAMN!!! very good ALEX!!!!!
Perfection 🤘🤘🤘!!
great stuff Alex!!!
Thanks Steve!
Really...why give the dude thumbs down??? You do better out there and put the time and talent into it. Dude's AWESOME. I'd like to smoke one and watch the dude play...he plays it way better than I...

As Janick Gers famously said 'If people like it, thats cool, if people don't thats also cool!' (paraphrasing a bit there haha!)
Now your're on it. Excellent !!! (not that you weren't before, difference between one player covering two parts, and showing both parts broken down).
Yeah the axe fx allows me to finally split the parts as they were meant to be heard! Thanks for watching and all your support mate :)
Thank You. If I was a little more computer literate, I could make some videos and give back To some of you guys that I've been learning so much from. In fact maybe I'll google that!! actually start giving back. LOL Thganks Alex
+Bob J Link me up when you do, I'd love to see them!
I absolutely will do so. Thank you brother. And soon I hope,
holy cow fantastic job dont you love that stretch
195th Moses Thank you!
Simply amazing! Alex - do you think you could prepare a guitar lesson explaining how to play Eyes of a Stranger?
Thanks man, I appreciate the view and compliment! It's not outside the realms of possibility, I get a lot of requests for lessons, but it's all down to how much time I have on my hands. I'm more inclined to do a cover than a lesson - as I say though, I may get around to it :)
Great job
Thanks Jeff!
The besto, perfect song!
Do you have tabs for this song?
Man!!! Masterpiece
Yeah that was fun to watch bro
I saw them tour this record
They opened for Metallica /And Justice for All tour
Saw them several times after that
Saw them play that entire record
a few times
They were in their prime
Thanks so much Chris, I'm very jealous!
Amazing man...
Incredible!!!
Sounds great.
Bro, Nice work Playing the whole Album!! Is there posible can you play the album Empire??
Thanks man! Most of Empire is on here I think, but it wasn't done particularly high quality, just me and my old digital camera haha - think the only ones that aren't up are Della Brown and Anybody Listening? but the solos of AL are on my facebook.com/alexwardguitarist page! This is great!!
best outro ever
Beautiful
Please... tab out what you're doing in that fast run at the top of the solo! It's the hardest part of the whole thing, you're making it sound exactly like the record, but even at slow speed I can't quite see what you're doing!
Awesome!
Very Good. Same for my 12 string. I attached a tuner and saved my life. But somehow, Tuner doesn't recognize The string for upper G.
Thank you Alex, thank you. : )
So nice man!!!!
Thank you!
NICE ONE !
This is so cool
Amazing! Thanks!
Thank you!!
FCK yeah well done bruh 💯💯
Bad ass bud!
Nailed it,
Alex, when Chris DeGarmo has left the band, have they not found you to fill in his role? :)
I wish! Thank you for watching, what a massive compliment!
Amazing job! Is the tuning straight forward with this song?
Hey Alex great job on all your stuff quick question what is the rhythm doing on eyes of a Stranger when the solo is going on?
"Mindcrime" cheers!
I agree whole heartly
My favorite one..
Thank you so much!
What did you use to record this? Sounds amazing.
Russell ward Thanks Russell! Used my Axe Fx 2 direct into Logic X
This is great stuff. Love your playing and your tone! What is your setup? What pedals/effects are you using?
Matthew Murray Thanks Matthew! I’m actually using an Axe Fx 2 - the patch I made (if I remember rightly) was a Friedman BE going into a Marshall cab and for the solos a delay and tune screamer set with no drive and full level. There’s some chorus and delay on the cleans (think that was a fender model of some kind). Hope that helps!
Thanks, man. You have a great ear. These are way more detailed than any tab available online. You pick up on subtleties that are often missed.
You are the shit Alex!🤘
Thanks so much Ronnie!
