Those old trailers were really made well. no comparison to today.
My parents first trailer was like the little green and white one. In the front was a dinette makes a bed in the rear was a bed with a bunk above made with two pipes with canvas attached made a bed where I slept.

I can remember taking in those Spartan trailers as trade-ins on mobile homes when I was a dealer in the deep south way back in the mid 60's. Used to sell them for $500-$600.
Even at $9k today, that's a STEAL! What a difference!
Yeah, I’d love to have like 5 acres of land where I could have multiple RV/camp sites and a main central common area. Think of it more as an RV/Camping hostel. I’ve seen some tiny home communities that kind of give me that vibe too. I wouldn’t even ask for people to pay me to stay on my property as long as they help out with the chow😂an and stuff.

70s/80s Avions are available out there, and have larger windows (which is GREAT), and tow exceedingly well. Just saying (and hinting lol). Can't wait to see what you end up with for travel.

Hey, Big Daddy Dave said to tell you that in our gasser Georgie Boy Swinger 😂 we had repeat acceleration issues, causing us to limp slowly. He doesn't know if it's the same in a diesel, but suggested to check your spark plugs. Evidently, our exhaust was so hot it was melting the spark plug wires. He switched ours to racing spark plugs, and that fixed it. (*Note: just throwing out what we did and what worked for us. We are not mechanics! 🚌 🔧 🔨 😂

Our bus doesn't have spark plugs, but it's funny you should mention that because we had that issue on our Ford F-53 with Balae! I just listened to that song, and wow... How appropriate that is!!
you should have asked those folks at the bluebird yard what they thought about Lenny's power loss? Maybe they saw that before and know of a solution, or they might know if it is something beyond what they ever saw before.
I thought about maybe asking about alternative theories if it returns though we're back in business since removing the muffler!
Sand is not really a love-hate thing but boy-oh-boy it can be a nuisance at times. But a great aide when you want sand bags, concrete, an hour glass, leveling medium, or sand dunes to name a few.
That's certainly a stuck in their time enclave of trailers and converted bus or two. Their design and architectural features sure stand out. Sort of an open-air west coast classic RV museum. For the most part they were built sturdy and the shells have basically lasted well. I suspect today's consumer RVs wouldn't last as well. There were a few that needed attention.
The final scene down a dark forest enclosed single lane with headlights was intriguing. Looked mysterious and fun.
Very true! And isn't that cool? From what we've been told, they each get attention monthly and things are upgraded or replaced as needed since they're always in use, which is awesome!
@@CozyLivingMachine Are they short term rental units? Sort of an antique/collectable mobile "Motor Court layout" of yesteryear? Sort of a KOA type but with more permanent "cabins {?}" vs rental spaces for real traveling over-niters? Very inviting if so.

8mpg is good for a larger, yet statuesque , vehicle such as Leonard.
Yep, 8mpg is great, especially in the hills. My 35ft MH gets 8mpg too, (pulling my toad) but on mostly level ground. In the mountains, all bets are off, and I'm lucky to get 6 mpg. But then again, it's a gasser, and gas is almost $1 a gallon cheaper than diesel in most places. The fact that our Ford V-10 lacks a turbo is what causes our mileage and power to take such a dip at mountain elevations, especially when climbing steep grades pulling our toad. Though I've traveled all over the Rockies with it and haven't found a grade it couldn't climb yet - though it had to drop into first gear to get over some 10,000 ft passes, so we won't break any speed records.
Do you suppose now you have less back pressure that you have improved fuel mileage?
I don't think so. Our fuel economy slightly improved (~1 mpg) after having the air leaks fixed up, but there were two fill-ups to confirm the improvement prior to removing the muffler!

Are those trailers nightly rentals? I was raised in a 950 sq ft house with 4 brothers. I think I turned out okay. I'm not a murderer, rapist, or pedophile (Democrat).
They sure are! Can't say how much off hand, but I'm sure it depends on the time of season too. And just goes to show that it's all about experiences and who we're surrounded with more than what we have in life!
