My Dreamcast is yellowing at the bottom and is dirty and gunky all around and I need to take it apart in order to safely de-yellow the bottom half and refurbish it. Thanks for this video!

Have you made a guide on repairing the GDROM itself? I broke the lid switch like a fool who didn't know how fragile it is lol

Cool thanks...👍🏻 p.s I have the HKT-3030 which is different on the mother board and fan removal.

Great video I love the dream cast and it’s really eye opening to see the heart of the console.

Hey, I had a question there are four gold screws. They’re probably the biggest and longest screws on the system. Could you possibly please tell me where those go? I am struggling any help would be much appreciated and thanks.

I swapped the battery with 2 rechargeable AAs . Works great, now it doesn’t forget the bios settings.

Great video, but man, I just wasted my entire Saturday. Did you know the square cutout for the modem is smaller than it is on the broadband adapter? Or that aftermarket replacement shells only have cutouts sized for the modem? Here I was having twice as much trouble trying to cram the broadband adapter parts into the modem-sized aftermarket shell, all because I wanted my broadband Dreamcast to be transparent yellow.
I do have several Dreamcasts so I do have a plan B for the aftermarket shell, but now I gotta de-case and re-case...

You could have saved yourself a lot of trouble taking that modem out if you had just used a spudger ;)

THANK YOU for the help. Unfortunately, I already did clean the pins in the way you explained, and it still appears to have the same problem.
I guess I just have a bad console? Only recently bought the console, and don't particularly want to spend the money for a new one. How annoying.
Well, anyways, thanks for the help.

It is no problem, you might still be able to fix it if you have soldering skills.

Awesome video , have you thought about replacing the thermal pads ?

  • @speedzero7478

Why does the Dreamcast have so many large capacitors on it (versus the PS2 which doesn't have so many huge ones like that), any idea? Interesting to see the insides of these things.

I understand opening it to clean and i have done it myself... but god damn it makes my heart hurt to see this beautiful machine in pieces :(

I know. The Dreamcast in this video didn't want to go through this painful procedure, but after a little coaxing I managed to get it to agree.
At least I put it back together at the end though.
      :)

Is there a battery in Dreamcast to save time etc etc ? Cause my DC always asks me about set time correctly when I power it on

Hm I thought should open the lid before lifting the lid off/putting back on.. the little switch sensor feels so dinky fragile

    • @RollerVisionStudios
      @RollerVisionStudios  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, I forgot to mention it in the video. It is okay to leave the lid closed when lifting the top part off. The reason is because the lid is already pressing back against the switch in the closed position, so when you lift it off, the switch just simply moves forward without getting harmed. However when you put the lid back on, it is recommended to open the lid because the switch is in the forward or open position. If you try to put the lid on with while it is closed, it will push the switch back, which might potentially break it. That is why when I was putting the Dreamcast back together, I always had the lid opened.
With all that being said, that switch is actually a lot tougher than you may think. I have put my fingers on it many times to test the GD-ROM drive, although I am careful not to put a lot of pressure on it. If the switch can survive my fingers, then it can survive any position of the lid when you put the Dreamcast back together.
      :)

So much power packed into one of the box, it tends to overheat
