We are going to go live today at around 5:30pm PST. How to teach what you know. This is to help you get your social game jump started. Tune in for that. I'll be answering questions and interacting w/ you guys. Friend Chris Do on FB to call in live.
I understand you gotta differentiate your Fb feed from your Insta feed. *But, say you upload 5 stills from your latest shoot. How can you really differentiate them?* What? Upload image 1-to-5 on Fb, and at the same timing- upload image 5-to-1 on Insta? It just creates spoliers & doesnt achieve anything. There's no real way to differentiate in this case, is it? These are the same pictures...
There are tons of real ways to differentiate. 1. Post at different time schedule. 2. The platforms don't use the same image ratio, so optimize for each. Eg, Insta is square, facebook is rectangle. 3. Use your written words to differentiate. Insta is image freak. Facebook is the home for written words. Twitter is a man of few words. 4. Just as the image aspect ratios are different, the resolution too is different. Research for the latest and use it.
The Futur has been one of my greatest sources of inspiration this year, I literally don't feel good anyday I go without watching a video here. I want to take out time on this video to say a big thank you to Chris Do and the Futur team, for all your valuable contribution to me and every creative here. You really inspire me and I hope to become as knowledgeable and inspiring as you. I'm grateful sir! Thank you so much
"Think process not product" really resonated with me for the simple fact that over the course of my career, I've always felt that I need to post the final polished piece of work. Well, unfortunately there are many times where I don't feel confident in the final piece, or it just didn't turn out the way I would've liked for it to...that leads to me not sharing it at all. Posting the process definitely feels like something I can do, without feeling insecure or unhappy about the final product.
One good thing that has happened to me in my career was when I stumbled on this youtube channel...every video have been helpful... thank you The Futur.
Social Media Sharing... Time to put this on my list. It just keeps getting longer. My takeaway from this one - "Take the time to craft. Quality vs Quantity". Thanks Chris.
And just like that, I now have a clearer idea of how to increase the quality of my Instagram presence. I really LOVE how you guys are so clear and straight to the point. Wow.
I really enjoy how you give advice that Goes against the Tide. I hear everyone telling me that quantity is better, that you should share the same across as many platforms as possible..and I see so many people succeding with material that wasn't that thought out.And it doesn't feel quite right. It's great to know I am not the only one feeling like that. You inspired me to listen more to myself :D
So... me being..an illustrator, videographer, music remixer, and photographer...I think I made the mistake of trying to lump all of them together in one instagram account, or I don't know how to curate it into one cohesive brand yet, and even created a separate account for my work in progress drawings, separate from finished product because I thought that would bring bad impression of my main account, but now that you mention how sharing your struggles are important, makes me rethink. I definitely thought product over process. And how do you bring all of those in one cohesive brand??
chris thanks as always! "Show your work" is on my list to read, currently finishing up "Win without pitching" which is AWESOME. thinking about going back and reading it a 2nd time.
This inspires me a lot! I'm the kind of designer that really doesn't share anything with the world, and I really want to share stuff with people. I just share stuff with clients and colleagues and that's it. But I can't get rid of the 'it has to be perfect' thought.
each time I watch a video I smash that like button, and I all the time try to hit that button few times in the same video, each time I like something, lately, I started thinking I need to innovate a way so I can like the same video as many times as the video deserve.
I've been wanting to get my social media marketing for my design profile on social media for a while now. This is sooooo useful! Im gonna start by replicating Jennet & having a brand guideline for myself! Thanks a lot guys! LOVE THIS!
I Love how you guys always change up the ways that you do your videos on this channel! It's always different and I love that, keeps me interested! This video had great tips, I'm learning alot! ☺☺
Loved this! I've been taking a break from posting on social media because I've hit a wall and this video has shown me where I've taken a wrong turn. Thank you for this! Is the full video available online?
What do you think if a person have an opinion on sharing kids/family/pets stuff on INSTASTORY but doesn't post any of that on his feed, only keeps his feed professional? Is it still excusable or don't do it at all?
i would like to start make another account on IG posting design things, but can i start by posting some of the content on my personal page first? (because i think have enough audience) and than gradually starting to shift the audience to the new account by posting more there? the biggest reason im afraid to start doing things like this is because most of my friends (and followers) are not designers and maybe will pay less atentions if i post design things :( how do i get through this? thank you :')
hey Chris. I'm a designer from India. I'm the kind of person that keeps his life to himself. I don't really see why I should be doing social media. what is this social media game everyone seems to talk about these days. Help me understand. Best wishes.
Thanks for another excellent video Chris! Pertaining to the less is more idea, do you also think there is room for keeping work exclusive and creating a mystery or intrigue around it by not sharing the process?
I have a booktube channel where I talk about books but I also would like to bring in my passion for design. Should I have two different social media pages for both design and books or can that be combined?
What about if your a nMusic artist or actor, wouldnt the strategy of showing what you do n bulk on all three platforms be a good process? untill you use facebook live and instagram stories to facilitate different marketng strategies e.g. competitions, fan meet and great?
"Posting less, not more." I do this but for me I realized it comes from a place of inconsistency and laziness more-so than deliberately showing less. I wonder what a good frequency is.
Great video. Recently discovered your channel. I work as an illustrator and find your content so helpful to listen to while working. Do you have any videos that I can share with my younger brother (he's 17) who is deciding wether or not to study Graphic Design? He has such great potential but lacks motivation sometimes and doesn't always see the ability he possesses. I really think he could become an excellent designer with some focus and hard work but could do with a push. Any links I can show him would be really appreciated! Thanks!
I understand you gotta differentiate your Fb feed from your Insta feed. *But, say you upload 5 stills from your latest shoot. How can you really differentiate them?* What? Ok, Great! So, I've got an impression for your different social accounts, and I think I understand your point. *On Twitter-* you focus on the written word/posting random cool quotes. *On Insta-* you use images for inspiring quotes + small chunks of video from your youtube channel, and mix it all up. *On FB-* you promote your "TH-cam live" events & such. Very cool! So Smart! But, for some reason, after seeing that now, I feel like it's comparing apples to oranges. I don't have the same "merchandise" you guys are selling. I do stills & videos. Feels to me like my content is more 2-dimensional, and you guys are like 3D. If I compare my still photo to your youtube lecture- I can't just "cut a part" of that photo and post it on insta, like you guys cutting a chunk off your youtube lecture and post it into insta. You understand my point? For me- it's the same image I can post on IG or Fb. I could try to add BTS stuff maybe to mix it up..but, still. Feels a bit like I don't have the powerhouse of different types of content that will be enough to differentiate my social platforms. What am I missing here, then? What do you think I can do, when my final outcome are just images? [here's a link as a sample, btw. didnt update everything yet: instagram.com/eladbari/ www.flickr.com/photos/eladbari/
you have to get creative. I'm just sharing my POV about people who post the same content across multiple channels. why would I follow them? you can show finished pieces on IG, process on FB or do Q&A about your work via live streaming. it's up to you. but do whatever you think is best.
Thanks for all the input. Much appreciated :] I will definitely have to figure out how I place extra value in each platform. *As of now, it seems like I'm giving up a business page on FB,* since all of that new algorithm had hidden so many big pages out there, that I don't stand a chance. Anyways, many photographers share work from their personal profiles, so this would probably get more views than a business page. It's all personal..and FB wants it to be so...
To think I saw multiple stupid 1 hour long webinars trying to sell me bullshit and gave my phone to random marketing agencies spamming me when all I needed to do was watching this...
It’s confusing how your advice of posting less and not posting the same thing to multiple platforms runs completely opposite to Gary Vee’s advice of posting more and posting the same content to multiple platforms. I’d like to know why these models work differently for each of you. Maybe this isn’t a one size fits all situation.

not for me. i think it's being lazy. try to curate different content and post natively.
The Futur so some of the biggest marketing agencies who develop this strategy for big artists and actors are lazy?
Thank you for all your videos and priceless insights Chris! Subscription is a must!
Throw the shades on em capin lol
Top outro
"Posting less, not more."
I do this but for me I realized it comes from a place of inconsistency and laziness more-so than deliberately showing less. I wonder what a good frequency is.
Jonathan Jerome as much quality content as you can produce. This is the filter. Be deliberate.
How do you balance serious and humorous posts?
i have no sense of humor.

(Posting) less is more (engagement)
nicely done.
Interesting
interesting like nice personality?
The whole video from start to finish. I learn something new every day.
Isn't reposting on instagram like collecting logos for inspiration basicly copyright infringement?
Rotbart1337 are you paying attention to how social media works? That's the whole point isn't it?
8:35 deal with it
I understand you gotta differentiate your Fb feed from your Insta feed.
