I know what you mean! Joe is a great guy, and he was the first real supporter of my channel back in 2015.

Heck yeah! TShirt weather for us in the north. I think next time I'm out, I'll have more success. Just gotta pack some fatwood... ;)

I’ve always wondered the disadvantages of having the edge more in line with the knuckles, so it seems like having it below is preferred for bushcraft tasks

Thanks for the comment! I would say it’s primarily personal preference. But for me, having that blade too far forward makes the blade awkward for detailed carving. Like working with an axe.

Joe was grt. Hated to see him leave. Hope he is doing well. Enjoyed the video with the 2 knives. Looking forward to next videos. It's nice to see the different type of knives

Thanks so much! And yeah, Joe is awesome! I hope he comes back, but he's probably focusing more on family life, which makes total sense. That's why I can't make more videos too.

Great video. Next time clear away snow with your boots then stomp and pack the snow so it doesn’t collapse on you. But great ideas.

Yeah, that's some good advice! I think I'm going to try to get out to that same spot before all the snow melts away and do just that. I was pretty old snow, so I should've brought a shovel for digging. Thanks for checking out the video, brother!

I agree with you regarding the French style, having a blade that much wider than the handle just decreases the leverage the handle has over the blade, making controlled cuts more difficult. I suppose its great for slicing food on a board and gives more options geometry wise but for camp tasks and wood carving its inferior to regular "bushcraft" type designs.

I have a Bark River Kephart CPM3V with the 0 bevel flat grind. Absolutely remarkable knife. Has performed far and above all others I've used in my 50 years of woodsmanship experience.
However I sure would love to get my hands on a bushtool to try out for a while. Wouldn't give uo my Kephart though for nuthin 👍🙂

Kepharts are such great knife profiles for so many things. And once you find the knife that fits you, it's hard to give it up. So happy you found yours. Thanks for checking out the video!
