- Come along as I journey to Brimfield Massachusetts to hunt for comics at the biggest outdoor antique flea market in the United States! A flea market so big I had to split my hunting between two days… video for day 2 to follow!

Some wonderful comics at the flea market; but boxes of wet comics! Oh the tragedy! Love the Hercules miniseries with Bob Layton's polished art and witty scripts; the two miniseries lead into a Marvel Graphic Novel which wraps up the story. Gruenwald's Squadron Supreme maxiseries is a high point in a great writer's career; we lost Gruenwald much to soon.
Oh man those wet comics… I had to skip ahead. So painful to see that.
I was feeling chest pains seeing those poor books.
@@calebleland8390 yup, and there were like 4 boxes like that. It’s probably a good thing I couldn’t pull them apart, better off not knowing what they were!
I would have been tempted to make an offer for the box, I've had some luck with water damage books in the past. Some can be saved.
@@ColeCollects true they might have been salvageable but I can’t even tell you what publisher they were, they were so mushed and unmovable. Would’ve needed a forklift to get them out too, that box probably weighed as much as a fish tank lol

Ha! Make the trip some time! I was thinking of both you and Automatic Comics while I was there, so much golden age stuff that isn’t my specialty but you guys would be in your glory. The other problem is my “buying comics cheap” theme is in serious jeopardy when I’m at these big dealers, you can drop a grand or two very easily at Brimfield!

I love your channel’s name! When i was a kid, lunch noney was the only way i had to buy comicbooks. I would starve at recess for a week to get enough money to go to the comicbook store. Good memories, man, also great video!

Flea markets are great. I got an X-Men 2 for $80 at a junk booth. It is only a 1-1.8 maybe. But it is an X-Men #2

Yeah sorry about that, prices were on the back, I could see but the camera couldn’t get the angle. I don’t remember specifics but they were all at $200+, the really nice ones were $300-450. Some amazing condition ones in there for sure!

I remember in early '84(?) on a trip to Massachusetts (from Maine) I found GIJoe #2 at an indoor flea market. I paid $5 for it. For 12 year old me at the time was a lot of money. Still one of my favorite books. Love looking for funny books.
Definitely allot of books to look at. I always find great books there. I don’t mind the wet books if l can get a deal. I can work on them when l get home. Another great upload Mike!!

Lol, spoiler alert I did NOT get it. First I already have it, and second it was WAY over priced. People joke that Brimfield has “Brimfield Prices”, you really have to work to get the best bargains. Great catch though!

@@willthebeast8002 I think it was one of those things where they double the price but mark it as “50% off!” to make it seem like a deal. Most comic hunters know what things are worth though so it doesn’t work lol
Great video AND channel! wow! so cool. I like these kinds of comic hunts in the wild and you look like your cleanin house. 😉 haha. Anyway I try to hit Half Price Books and some other small stores that sell used comics and try to find a valuable gem. Its a great feeling and fun. Again, great video and good luck hunting! 😃

Hey Mike, I was curious, what do you use to film yourself going through comics? I see both hands so I'm guessing a gopro with a chest mount? If you could divulge your secret let me know! Love your channel!
I don’t do it as much anymore, but I simply used my normal phone tripod tucked into my shirt. Not the most elegant solution but it works in a pinch!

There is stuff called Absorene as well, and that is what I use.

He was right next to me so he must have. Honestly, they were as saturated as if someone dropped the box in a swimming pool, I don’t understand how they could’ve that wet.
