Wish I knew this when I was I'm my addiction, I always twisted the end to close it, I didn't know you could heat it up until it closes. I have almost 3 years clean now.
Hey man I also have almost 3 years clean this July. I also started messing with glass in my addiction, and have recently picked it back up to make things other than what I used to do in addiction. Two ways that I would seal off a tube of glass would be either just heat it to the point where it seals off, then proceed with the process, or heat it up on the end to the point where you could pinch it off with tweezers/pliers, to get it sealed. I noticed doing it that way it would be as strong, but i could work with it. Now I use that process to make many other things
❤ congratulations on your 3 yr anniversary! I've seen twisted ends in multi-colors and thought: "Wow. Pretty cool! How'd they do that?" Now I know. When you quit, did you expand your skills in the Art of Glass Blowing? I've always wanted to - material issue here. Congrats 🎉 again on your win. Stay strong and know you ARE important toore than you know! jla
Its called 'bubble trash' and its really hazardous, because its basically micro-thin glass confetti thats really easy to breathe in. I really hope the guy who made the vid was wearing a mask at the time!
I'm really having a difficult time understanding if it is better to use a small burner that doesn't waste much gas and I assume would be slow enough that it wouldn't get away from you in a flash; or use a lot of fuel (homie has pipe inserted into less than a quarter of the flame for 5% of this video) get the project done fast then shut off the fuel. I guess since this big burner is even a thing, and this gentleman prefers this tool: the big burner is the better over-all tool???? Anybody use both of these on the same material???
Oops, when I asked that question, I was assuming that since the burners use the same type of fuel, they must produce the same temperature range, just one produces more volume of the same temperature gas. still confusing....
You’re better off using a propane only or mapp gas blowtorch, a TS4000, or TS8000, but it takes a while with boro glass. If you can get your hands on an oxygen propane torch used for lamp working, you’re can do a lot more with something like that
If you will lean your head back and hold the tube straight up and down (perpendicular to the ground) while you blow into to tube then your bubble will be even and if you reheat it with your angle opposite of closing the end the heat can’t escape as easily and it will not collapse as easily. You can even put your finger over the end of the tube to help.
It’s like sticking your hand in that fiberglass insulation on steroids. Best off just cleaning it up, and washing your hands with soapy water before it’s too late
I used to do this to fuel my addiction with meth, since I notice so many people talking about that’s what he made. I went to a local store and purchased one that was already made or, most of the time an 8 inch borosilicate glass tube, and blew it myself. It wasn’t until my addiction that I was introduced to glass and fire. Now, I’m almost 3 years clean, wife, family, house, stable good paying job, every tool I need to do any job around the house, fire arms to go hunting, or defend myself and my family if need be, dirt bike, gaming pc, everything I need to be a father and caring, loving husband to an amazing wife, everything else I can ask for with no want to use anymore. At some point I realized how much I loved working with glass, and decided to go and buy everything I need to have a glass working workshop. I have a propane oxygen torch that I use to make marbles, pendants, glass animals, flowers, and of course for the people that smoke weed, bowls and pipes, and able to sell them. Soon after I started my work, people my wife works with wanted pieces that I have made. I guess that goes to show you that a recovering addict like me can be a functioning part of society with some thing that seems to be a dying art, can work a job as a forklift operator at a place that makes car frame parts, that go out to many manufacturers, and do something such as lamp-working/glass blowing as a hobby. It doesn’t take me back to the times I used, it’s more so when I used, i would mess around with glass to make something that wasn’t meant for using. Now I just get to enjoy the art of glass. Since so many people look down on people that are addicts, or recovering addicts…
@@dudders___1684 yeah I just shoot it up now too but blowing pipes was fun I’m surprised your wife doesn’t mind that you shoot up now. She’s a keeper dude!
Wow, the end of this video, of all things, literally just made me gasp in shock more than just about anything I’ve seen recently. I truly did not expect that.
Just wanna put this out there, i wouldn't be doing that with that super thin glass. One of these times your going to do that and it will blow molten glass particles everywhere and can blind you.
Borosilicate glass also called Pyrex. It has the COE of 33, coefficiency of expansion. The lower the number the lower the chance of cracking when cooling, and exploding when heating. I use COE 33 glass, clear and colored. If you try using something with a COE of say 104, you’re going to have to use something like a propane only blowtorch or a glass warmer to even get it to the point where you can put it in a glass blowing flame. You can order this low COE glass in a lot of places. Amazon, a company called devardi is pretty decent, Mountain glass arts, North Star sells really good glass, there’s a few others
love a teacher using school equipment to show youtube how to make a meth pipe. And wonder if his wife knows he teaching kids and who ever else may see this video to blow their own pipe. Actually i can figure out what school this is and who he is just from the schools barcode and name on equipment. This was 12 years ago and he may be a teacher still but doubtful making videos like this.
Thank you for that clear explanation, easy to understand and follow 👌

i think it would look prettier with some crystals in it
You can also add gems like opals. I made an opal pendant for my wife a few weeks ago

Can you give a description of the burner your using in this video.?
Oil burner

I think they’re culled Bunsen burner in the glass blowing world
Its a Meker-type burner. HUMBOLDT H5550 or smth
Meth pipe ?
Yes, but I use this process to make Christmas tree ornaments. Adding other things of course like striped and swirled colored glass, and dots

Lmao... I was thinking the same thing myself...
The difference between a meth pipe and a weed pipe is one hole
the difference between meth pipe or weed pipe is that you are a drug addicts.
