Welcome to Austin sir, we're honored to have you. McKinney Falls is a beautiful park for sure, you picked a hell of a month to visit though lol, it's been crazy hot. Barton Springs would be a great place to cool off though as long as you avoid the weekends.
I live here in Austin, and I started following your channel because it was the only one I found doing bushcraft in the desert. I've been wanting to do some stealth camping here, but there's not a lot of open land here....
Yo JY 🦊 nice show and tell there and that night vision you going to have fun with that I have and old big one monocular brick 🧱 size 😂from the 90s looking forward to your review on yours 👍👌✌️🫡🇺🇸
Sunglasses are a smart edc choice since eye cataracts are becoming more common everyday in younger people. I also like to carry some hearing protection such as ear plugs. They can be invaluable in some emergency situations but also great for everyday urban situations such as when your stuck in traffic near road construction, commuting with screaming kids nearby, on just trying to sleep on a plane or in a hotel room with a noisy air conditioner. I like the SAK Farmer X for urban edc in hot weather to keep things as minimal as possible but still feeling prepared.
Prepared is one thing, but to bring your own frog, now that's thinking ahead! flipping awesome. Like the snake eater and yes always apen and pad for thought or sketching stuff. Great video as usual man.
Hello from Houston. McKinney is on my list to hike/bike/camp next year. I personally prefer high carbon steel vs stainless knives. They can create a spark with a flint or ferro rod. A little more high maintenance though down here on the coast. My budget favorites are Mora and Opinel depending on use. I also like to carry down here is a chemical cold pack and some electrolytes for heat exhaustion and dehydration. Love, your local liberal.
James, thank you so much for featuring Austin, TX. I miss the place so much. But beyond that, may I know how can I order the knife, Snake Eater? Thank you so much for your response. Keep it up.
Snake eater looks so awesome. I cant sadly afford them currently since Woody is high end maker. Have you thought about reaching out to mass production companies to make more affordable version? Would be awesome to get cheap blade blank green river knife style. I really like your design style since the knife sort of looks like something cowboy would have carried, but still modern at same time.
Cool review of your gadgets. I’m not sure if you know but you can replace the flints on the Clipper lighters. Being refillable, it’s handy to be able to replace the flint too. I save all the flints from BIC disposable lighters, they work very well.
Clipper lighters are the best, specially if you remove the chilldren proof spark wheel and inserta a regular one. What i like of this lighter is the detachable and refillable spark module, you can detach it and use separately of the lighter to ignite tinders (man made and natural tinders)
I know you typically have a secondary lantern (like your UCO). I used to as well, but lightened the load by using my Astrolux S1 and/or Fenix LD30 with a diffuser that fits over the bezel. One small diffuser, it works for both of those flashlights, and it will go for dozens of hours with 18650 batteries, and can be hung in the tent for use as a nice mellow lantern! Cheers hermano, and thanks for another vid!
Welcome to Austin!! Please get a pair of Ray-Bans or something similar w glass lenses. That pair you bought have cheap plastic lenses & not so great for sensitive eyes optically James. Have lived in Austin now 26 years and it's unrecognizable from its former self. Watch your six Stay safe
Austin TX is a beautiful fun town but a bit to liberal for your EDC pew pew gear and sharp cutting tools. It use to be shock jock Alex Jones's old stomping ground!
James, Texas is a constitutional carry state. Do you take advantage of the law for EDC? In some states carrying a concealed knife (of a certain blade length) is a bigger crime than carry a gun.
The knife of certain lenght is such strange law for usa. I understand by law they see it as consealed weapon, but still for foreigner who admires american constitutional rights it feels strange. I think even texas untill reacently had laws against knives in public
Most of us do everything we can to avoid Austin and you go there for vacation? Be careful there, I hear the hipster disease is spreading there simply by breathing the air there. I live 80 miles away and still thats 200 miles too close.
As someone thats been living in Austin for 6ish years and a fan of your channel im glad to see you visiting here and enjoying it
Good to see you came to Austin my friend! As always I enjoy your videos!

Cool! I can't wait to see the night vision attachment in action.
Great vid! Those Sun glasses are awesome!
Good job
Welcome James to my hometown. It’s hotter than hell. 50 days 100+ and counting.

Another thing you can use that thermal attachment for your camera is checking to ensure your campfire is fully out.
Great EDC update James! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Looking forward for the next camping fishing vid
Awesome snake eater!
My hometown
Keep hydrated brother!

Hopefully you will be doing another survival desert video soon.

Hi, I love the Snake Eater knife, but unfortunately it's a little too rich for my blood. Any plans to make a cheaper version?
Who makes the night vision attachment?
Wear some shades with good UV protection. Especially where you live. Your eyes will thank you a few decades from now.
Welcome to Austin. Muggy stupid hot we do well.
Still hoping 001 turns up for you

Just so everybody’s aware… Austin, Texas is not real Texas! It’s the California of Texas.😢
Most of us do everything we can to avoid Austin and you go there for vacation?
Be careful there, I hear the hipster disease is spreading there simply by breathing the air there. I live 80 miles away and still thats 200 miles too close.
@@HHB884 I thought I was keeping it civil lol
@@HHB884 gotcha, it's hard though.
Liberal city.
In Texas, even the pets carry a Glock and a fixed blade knife....
Im originally born and raised in Austin. Its definitely not a liberal city. Liberal Austin died in the 90’s.
No it hasn't
