Excellent video as always! Sorry to hear about your brother man. I lost my mom a few years ago. While I was attending a survival school in Washington. Cherish that tool. Even if you and your brother weren’t close. Use it in remembrance of him! God bless you!
I must confess, your brother's Leatherman hit me in the feels. Glad you have that. Just make sure you never lose it! Great loadout as always, bro. Looking forward to that Mt Laguna knife review as well.
When I volunteered for Doña Ana County Search & Rescue (when I lived in Las Cruces NM) I had lots of personal experience with folks who thought they would be fine in shorts and a cotton t-shirt in the desert at night. Good way to get hypothermia! Thanks for the vid!
This is the time of year that I get a little envious of people that live in the desert. I’m in the coastal Pacific Northwest so we only have about 4 months more rain before it dries out here 😂
Great channel James. The edc I never go without is the one you mentioned almost as an afterthought at the end - the wallet. Mine is from the Buffalo billfold company, made in the USA and is still going strong after 9 years.
Hello 👋 James, greetings from Northern California. Thank you for sharing this informative video. It looks like you are ready for almost any emergency. That's a great assortment of essential items. Be safe out there. 🤗 👋
If you need a new poncho, I highly recommend Wilderness Innovation poncho & if you add there Osni Cloak you will be good for anything Mother Nature can throw at you. I’ve had my HD poncho & the older fleece liner for years 👍
James; love the "Go outside and get your boots dirty" shirts. I live in AZ and wear a long sleeve pretty much year round. I would love to see some additional brighter colors in that category and the logo on the back.
I used to wear cowboy boots. Lets face it, its a timeless look, long hair, levis bootcut jeans and cowboy boots, add a beard and heavy ink and the chicks go crazy but i had a pair of oil rigger boots that were pretty great, everything proof soles, great work boots. Loved those things.
Always wrap ur lighters with rubber bands..especially where it clicks.....1....it won't let the gas come out...and 2...rubber bands always come in handy....and 3...becuz I said so.
if you want a really spacious bag that's a 2 piece, go look for the Nighthawk gear on Blackie Thomas page, Hes a silver wolf in his terms who's into all the outdoor tips and tricks. he was a civil war reenactor. He came up with the design and I couldn't help but think you'd like not only the name but the Design of the bag since it is a haver/napsack piece together.
Thanks for another great video. I dig the knife - looks like you may have tried a mustard pattern patina on the 1095 carbon steel? Might I suggest a combo hot vinegar dip/ mustard patina (I know, sorry... I'm sure you get tired of "suggestions" from your viewers)? After I stripped my Esee 4 coating, I put a protective patina on it using both methods. Even after having it in the humidity of Panama, no complaints! Cheers James and Cuervo!
I would be careful batoning a D2 knife. There's a few videos on youtube of D2 knives breaking when batoning through tougher wood. The one I can remember offhand is Cedric and Ada's test of the Vox Rold knife where it got stuck in a twisted piece of Australian wood and snapped.
Thin coats are not a horrible thing if it dries quickly and feels like a tshirt flexible and comfortable sitting standing moving crammed in a vehicle dont feel like you made a bad purchase it definetly has some uses
I have the Tac Sac version of that satchel, more your style, just like the Tuff Possum inside , in fact I have the 11 in black and the 13 in khaki, love them. That one doesn’t have the palls webbing, molle webbing, the Tac Sac version does.
Nice edc, I carry the very same items in my jeans. Bark River bush crafter knife or a ESEE camp lore or Garberg. Sometimes I roll with a neck knife , it’s a English trade knife. Good video.
You mentioned adding a boot knife to a pair of new boots. One thing I have heard is locating the knife inside the boot ankle, along the calf just above the heel. One person I talk to says with a thinner handle and kydex sheath makes the blade disappear in his dress boots. I’d say try to add medical knowledge and gear to your edc. Knives, guns, and activities in the outdoors have potential to cause severe injuries.
Green River Knife - I've been wondering about those notches on top... 🤔 mine is a carbon steel blank that I blued & made a handle with some mild finger grips that Rothco Canteen is identical to Nalgene, probably made for them
Great video as always, though I never thought I would see a video of yours showing your nut sac. Seriously though, Nut Sacs are pretty good gear heavy duty and well made and you can now order them with just the logo without the wording to keep people from making crude jokes like I just did. However I would consider Them for heavy duty urban use not Woods use. I agree with you forvanyboutdoor adventure I would rather grabe one of my Hidden Woodsmen Bags. Now I need to go order myself a Get your boots dirty tshit for Christmas I hope them come in green or black.
Wilderness Innovations, poncho, tarp and hammock. A bit spendy but American made. I have two snake eaters, great knives. Been using them more lately,,,

@@JunkyardFox seriously? I guess I’m the odd man out then. Cause I like those adventurous videos you do. Ha ha. That truly saddens me. I’m sorry to hear about your brother. That’s so sad man. I’m glad you were given something of his to hold onto.
Love the hat! Wish I could find one simple like that yet still had some fashion and practical use
Great kit. Most folks don’t modify their kit for the changing seasons. Especially us folks that live in the desert regions. Good stuff.
the RovyVon on the hat is awesome!

The ST 300 is a great tool. A lil heavy but worth it. I Alternate between the ST 300 n the cooler months to the blast in warmer weather.
