Not everyone can pull off hats like you and Cuervo wear. You both really look great all decked out. Sometimes I think you both just stepped out of a spaghetti western. I mean that in the most complimentary way possible.
This was such a great upgrade from that old straw hat! Being from NC I don't really wear hats like this, but I have always loved this hat. Especially the personality. Great video brother 🤘🏼
I used the knife/lighter system in my boot for a season just to try it out and went back to my old way. Head cover is forgotten by a lot of folks nowadays save maybe a ball cap.
Hi from a Pennsylvania hill Billy. I work and live and hunt in the forest of Pennsylvania and Maine. And I eat alot of wild meat. My old filson after 40 plus years wore. Out. My new one came today. Out back trading. And it seems very good. Tin cloth and wool. Is what I wear in the wilderness. I used to live in Alaska 18 years. Now I live in Pennsylvania. Because I came home from Alaska after my dad passed away unexpected. Now Iive in Pennsylvania and still work, live and hunt in the woods. A good hat is a necessity. 😊
I carry a flint and steel and birch back. 15 seconds from spark to flame. Just make a birds nest. I learned from Alaskan natives. From Nicole. Alaska. . They adopted this hill Billy from Pennsylvania who served in the army. . 😊
The Brixton 'field proper hat' is wool felt whilst your hat is cotton oilskin. If anyone is looking for a similar type of hat, they can check out the "Outback Trading Company' Kodiak hat.
I wear a similar but wool hat that works better for my region. But i haven't modified it, only a couple of blister plasters in the brim on the inside. It is mainly meant for protection against tics in the summer and to keep warm in the fall and early spring. I did do some mods to my cap and boonie hat but as English isn't my primary language it would be hard to explain.
My one. Neck knife with a flashlight a miniature big lighter and a fire steel with some gorilla tape wrapped around it. I love the tinder redundancy. for function. I would probably go with a miniature Bic lighter shoved in the band. But you’re on point with the aesthetic. Also I do not live in the desert. More🔥time. And also that’s a pretty cool little light. I carry two of the olight I3T EOS (1AAA). One in my smoke pouch. And one on my neck knife(Mora Eldress). And 1 I5T EOS (1AA)on my belt with my Leatherman. All EDC. But I like the mode set up that yours has. Excellent video as always. And God bless. Please keep doing what you do!
I've had strike anywhere matches (Two of them) and a super tiny jar of gunpowder stuck in the brim of my hat for years now. Apparently I'm not the only crazy person out there.
I got me a hat recently, similar to yours. I wud like to put a flashlight on the side aswell. But dont know how to go about it . My question is how do you attach it on ur hat? Aswell as do u know of some other ways someone like me could
Likewise my Tilley hat ,I canoe . There is a pocket in the top mine holds a small knife a fero-rod as well as two foam pads. You see the Tilley hat floats. The foam pads double as tinder. Black signal smoke.
I really like your set up. I've learned a lot from your channel. I just wanted to ask if your EDC differs from urban to out in the field environment? Or do you carry the same items daily regardless of environment? Keep up the great work!
somewhat. in the city i tend to be more subtle so even though i usually carry my hat and haversack everywhere, i tend to leave them in my truck when im running errands in the city. i also sometimes wear regualr cowboy boots that dont have spurs and a boot knife. other than that i tend to carry my usual things on my belt and pockets, just drawing less attention to myself
Hey Duder! Had to come back and check this out because of the hat. 😂. Don’t know if you remember me. Changed my handle. I was the guy who was interested in using the snake eater to ninja slice through yucca. I live in NM. Hope you and Quervo have been doing well. Glad to see you’re still kicking butt. I have a cotton brimmed hat myself. Looks like leather, it’s pretty cool. Breathes very well and doesn’t seem to get sweat stains.🤷♂️ Fits my giant Leno-esque head! Peace Brother.
@@JunkyardFox Yeah that I did. Used to be a pair of leather boots with a leather sheathed knife in between. Name was Ryan Cox. I wasn’t all that noteworthy lol. No worries though man. Just glad you guys are doing well.
I put some Hammaro tinder card in my Summer Tily hat.It is basically flat waxed paper that works good ,made In Sweden. The UCO matches are pretty cool too.
I love hats and have several of them. City use and outdoor use. I don't modify them. All 'survival' items are in my pockets and a fanny pack. I have winter and summer hats, cotton and leather ones. So it's easier to just have a fanny pack when I change hats.
most of my survival stuff is on my belt or pack but its fun to customize each hat a little bit. youll see my wool hat and the added items on that one in our next edc update video
So just checking are you sure the brixton proper hat is close to what you got cause the proper hat seems more like a wide brim fadora I just want to make sure before purchasing
The new hat looks nothing like yours. Been frustrating trying to find one that looks similar to yours. Have you written to Brixton and told them of the interest in you hat?
Nicely done and informational there JF 🦊 I would to see where you would put a fishing 🎣 kit I know Wazoo has those mini ones. My cousin’s and one time went to a creek we didn’t have rods with us but we found fishing line and hooks 🪝 and bait errs losses some out there guess what we did Boom just to see if we could catch anything we did one big as 😂 you know catfish 🐟 and it did taste good , good old days 😀👍👌✌️🇺🇸
that would be cool, though since theres not a lot of boduis of water in my region, i wouldnt probably carry it on my hat daily. i do have this little fishing kit and rell taht fits in my haversack thats tiny yet has reeled in dinner several times, i may have to do a video on it soon now
Does my haversack count as mods? 😅 realistically my most customized gear is probably my watchband and belt. Run a garmin instinct and a black scout concealment belt. Mostly the ERE from SERE Kits that suits my abilities, most of main survival kit is in my haversack with smaller gear on my person
@@JunkyardFox it’s an ad on TH-camthat I see all the time before your videos start. It’s just this old guy with a beard in a suit asking about Great Depression recipes. It’s annoying.

hello cousin
I used the knife/lighter system in my boot for a season just to try it out and went back to my old way. Head cover is forgotten by a lot of folks nowadays save maybe a ball cap.
Okay I stumbled on this channel by accident researching different ways of using cactus fruit and now I’m obsessed.
welcome aboard!
Cool. Nothing wrong being nerdy/geeky.
I like being that way, it’s fun.
definitely, i enjoy mixing my geek hobbies with my outdoor style
Adding the striker was a great idea! Thanks for sharing.

Diggin' the hat mods James. I rock a similar set-up on my boonie. A small Olight, a small ferro rod, and Swiss Army knife all on the hat band.

After watching this video, I'm going to make modifications to my Conner Hats cowboy hat
I dig it. Great job on the upgrades. I need to figure out how to upgrade my Tilley.
it would be cool if you made a video about it eventually
I'm thinking about it, just have to figure out WHAT I'm going to do with it, and how

The clip works well with the hat band

Lol no you won’t

Let’s just say (survival purposes) a fellow diabetic like me, how can I use the desert in my favor for survival? Any tips that would be a cool ass vid

theres a wire in the brim so you can just shape it with your hands

You should try akubra hats much better outdoor hat
i didnt know about that brand. definitely look interesting
Only thing that hat is lacking is a 🐇
sadly, then id always have dinner ready to cook after making a fire lol

Все, что ты запас в шляпе, будет потеряно вместе с ней.
Well that’s why you take care of your hat. I’ve had mine for 4 years, used it in hundreds of adventures. Never once lost it or anything on it.
strikers aren't waterproof. You should keep it in that little plastic bag they come in.
i need to find a little plastic bag for it
