Today for the first time here on your channel. It's always nice that TH-cam's algorithm always manages to find me. I follow a lot and keep seeing new names and new adventures. And so it is wonderful that you are now on my list to follow. I come from the Netherlands, near Eindhoven. Portugal is beautiful and certainly fun to live in.
Welcome to our channel! We are happy to have you here
if you have plenty euros even in afeganistan will good to live , Portugal is a good climate country , good food , it grows almost all year around , winters are cold and wet plenty water , but living of the grid is a chimera you need to have monthly income of at least a person wage , i lived in there 30 years of grid but is too hard , you can't have cars or things that others have
You should start a naming contest for your "new" German machine. Don't forget to write a little message on the windshield of the car with parking challenges ... "Please, next time leave a can opener, to help get my car out". Cova da Beira is beautiful ... welcome to Portugal. All the best!
HELLO. FIRST, WELCOME TO MY COUNTRY. I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. I WISH YOU HAPPINESS IN THIS PARADISE. HUGS

You need to learn portuguese Quick.
Everything takes time and slowly we are doing it:)

Thanks for letting us know! :D
@@Magik.Within used car prices are higher in Portugal than in some other countries such as the UK or the Netherlands. But I am curious how much you paid for the car.
Cars in Portugal are more expensive. Remember intially a new car has 23% sales tax on it.
You sound Danish. The young lady I mean Why Castelo Branco county as it's the hottest driest county. So you here to buy and live or just tramping. If you are dreaming of the good life living off grid or similar then don't buy in Castelo has very short of water. I reccomend further north where the water is more reliable. There are beaches on most rivers here it's just locating them.. Most if not all small streams are suitable to drink without worry and watermines as well. I bet your boyfriend/husband feels a lot warmer here than he did in Canada.. No need to purify as that won't help your immune system. A little dirt helps make you stronger. I am English and live in the mountains next county up from you and have wonderfull views of Siera Estrel. if I have that right. I have never filtered water in my life, as long as you can't see anything in it it's fine.. I grow most of my own food on my farm. You are always welcome to drop in if you wish and I can give you some tips.
Thank you for your comment, we really appreciate your advice :)
Ema is from Lithuania so that is her accent! We aren't planning to buy land in Portugal right now, we are just going around looking at different areas to see what is there.
@@Magik.Within Lithuania, well was close only across the Baltic. Mines Chinese, but of no use so getting divorce and have a Filipino lined up ready for when the divorce comes through. There is a lot of land all over the country, but the cheapest is Castelo Branco as is too hot 47 c and too dry. but a bit wetter towards the northern part near Fundao. I'm in Guarda county, land a tad dearer but still very cheap compared to the U.K. where I'm from. Remember, never pay the asking price as everything is negotiable. Don't buy anything before 1951 or is likely it will need a habituation license before you can turn it into a house and make sure there is a good water supply as you will need it in the summer. Stay clear of Lisboa and the silver coast as very expensive in comparison too the rest. Hope this helps .

Where's Siera Estrela
@@josecaetano2388 Highest mountain in Portugal.
i lived there i used to drink water from the creek stream and never sick , now i don't know , because lots of farmers fertilise the land with chemicals not organics so yes filtering the water and sterilising it is a must but in mountainous running stream it is almost pure water compared to city water from dams

Hello there friends. I noticed one thing on your talk.... If you need a lift from a car/driver... You stick your arm out and put your thumb like this -> 👍
Put it out ASAP so the driver has time to assess the situation. Stick it out good okay?! Move your arm up and down if needed. I'm sure you've seen that move somewhere... That's the unspoken rule of hitchhiking here 😅 Otherwise people will just assume that you don't need anything. And yeah, drive by and wave at you. Also... We are somewhat suspicious of people soooooo, you may or may not get a lift.... Depends on the confidence of the driver. But since you're foreigners... You're pretty much on the green side of things. Hitchhiking here is almost like a bussiness... A "trust bussiness"! You have to look trustworthy and innocent... Giving a lift is a VERY vunerable and intimate thing for us. And it works BOTH ways... If the driver doesn't inspire you much confidence... DON'T take the lift.
Hope one day to have the pleasure to meet you dudes 😆 Hope you enjoy Portugal. Hugs
Hello! Thanks for sharing more about it as we are so new to this :D We tried all different kind of gestures to get a lift but it doesn't work. Definitely can see that people just are not so trusty with hitchikers here but that's alright times will change :D We would love to meet you too! Sending you a Big Hug 🥰
