Also I want to argue the point of C:DDA being an apocalypse simulator. There are AT LEAST three apocalypses happening at the same time. You have the Goo which caused the Zombie Apocalypse, the Mi-Go Interdimensional Invasion, and the Triffid Uprising. Tangential cataclysms include the cybernetic escapees/revolution that are technically a part of the Goo storyline because the Goo is a pan-dimensional hivemind that destroyed the cybernetic dimension before it spilled into the DDA dimension, the uprising of Giant Insects which is a side-effect of the Goo. OH! I forgot the Nuclear Apocalypse that happened in response to the Goo.
@@Aavak It was the best of times, it was the blursed of times. CBMs were great, and you could get them from so many enemies if you could take them out. Now they're ultra-niche and last time I played not as much fun as they were. It's a shame, but that's progress in an open-source game for you.
@@Lumen_Obscurum I hate what the devs have done to it. "Realizm" simps are the worst. The game is legitimately less fun because of them, and fewer mods are made, too.
A wholesomeverse Terraria playthrough sounds epic, with some creature comfort mods it's even better! I really hope it doesn't happen, but a full party wipe are a very valid series end reason. CDDA multiplayer with Aavak as the guide sounds bonkers good too! I cannot overstate how magnificent this group is, thank you all for doing this series together. I will add that this is only surpassed by the LadyShelab series, by less than a whisker!
@@nickierv13CDDA has never been multiplayer and it would require an intense revamp to become multiplayer because it is a turn base game where the passage of time is not linear. In my proc-gen world, my desert was on the other side of my wasteland, which was alongside my snow biome. The biome generating in directions seems to only be the basic map, I've taken to only using the coordinates themselves to figure out search directions. By that I mean you can feel like you're near 0N:0E, but instead be 1000S:1000W, which means searching west or south is less likely to find biomes simply because of the map dimensions. In your case, you're in the South-West of the map so the snow/wasteland is likely to be north or east from there. I know, it's obvious map exploring 101 but it's something I see many people miss due to the fact that the map kinda sucks in 7D2D. I keep forgetting that the temp waypoint removal is on the Map tab, for example. Also, my map managed to generate a whole town not connected to any other towns. No roads out, it was super weird to stumble across when I was still exploring the map. Sadly it had my nearest Crack-A-Book HQ, and Crack-A Cafe.
There actually were a few "good" vaults, as I recall. There were a small handful of "control" vaults that didn't have any experiments going on. After all, any good scientist knows you need a control group to have a proper experiment. Otherwise you can't tell how of the crazy is caused by the nonstop, horrible noise and how much is from just being stuck underground for decades.
Fallout New Vegas had two "good" vaults as I recall. One was a control vault that did fine until it was overrun by raiders. The other was in Vegas proper and while it was an experiment vault (all disagreements were resolved via gambling contests like cards) it was actually very successful. Eventually the residents left to live on the surface and Mr House had the lower levels closed off.
@Aavak I'm kind of disapointed that your loot goblin senses weren't tingling in Trader Hugh's place. 4 players visiting the same trader multiple times and still no one looted the two display cases around Hugh (glass display case is loot-able if you hit it from the right angle)
Oh yeah, that would be amazing. There's so many possibilities in CDDA. That game was one of the first ones I saw Aavak play. In 7d2d I don't really like the parts crafting system. Mechanical parts and electrical parts are used for everything, but for example club parts are only used for baseball bats and steel clubs. There are only 5 vehicles and 3 of them are bikes. Vehicles can only hold 1/2 players and the motorcycle moves at the same rate as the 4x4. A sports car or a killdozer would be a great addition. Or an atomic tank from CDDA?!
@@May-gr8bp I totally get the scaling issues of implementing depth in a game with graphics and physics, but if Zeus reached down and dropped a vast pool of money in my bank account, I would totally bankroll a CDDA/7DTD fusion :D
No worries about your aim, Aavak. You were suffering from a bias I think most gamers do. Headshot bias. Getting those tasty headshots takes such a high priority in the mind of gamers you will end up missing even easy shots because fighting the bias causes you to hesitate. It is better for accuracy to just train yourself to shoot for the targets you should aim for. Center mass. If you can line up a sweet headshot with little effort then by all means do it. But once your targets are aware of you and moving just center your sights on the torso
