    Boost restores the original fabric's body. With many vintage clothes I only finger press as they dry and no need to use an iron. This product was formulated by a chemist whose wife was a doll collector. I am so glad that Dollspart continued to manufacture this product.

    I love seeing doll repairs! It's so satisfying to see a well-loved doll get a spa treatment and restore them to their glory.
    I personally have a lot of love for composition dolls, and recently got a couple that need some repairs. One just some minor repairs but the other needs some fairly major work. Your comment about reading a repair book tickled me, because I spent very little on the dolls, but then bought an expensive (because it's out of print) book on how to repair them. I definitely found the situation amusing to spend more on the book than the dolls combined. Thankfully, the book is specific to compo, and has all the info I was frustrated at not finding in other repair books, so no regrets about it.

    This doll it´s stunning!! and Christopher did an amazing job revitalizing her,well done! 👏👏👏
    The top ( 29:38 ) it´s actually a "Chemise" and it would´ve worn under the corset,to prevent bruising and stainning in the corset.That's why it is not flush against the body ☺
    Fun fact: Undergarments were the first mass manufactered pieces of clothing cause those garments would be washed daily;usually made out of white cotton,transpirable and able to be sun bleached (sun kills a lot of bacteria!).
    Exterior clothing on the other hand wouldn't even be washed normally,it was made out of materials like silks or wool that can´t be washed.That´s why all those lawers existed,to prevent stainning and bodily hodours in the "good" garments and give the right shape to support them.
    I´m amazed how much my fashion classes and interest in historic fashion can be tied to dolls 🤣🤣

    Rachel, WOW, I so agree that just cleaning the antique under skirts make them look MUCH BETTER😃😃💖💖💖💖💖!!! And I so LOVE the eyelet details with the leaf design on the underskirt💖💖💖💖💖!! And I so LOVE how Christopher fixed up her dress and I so agree with you Rachel that the orange in the feathers🪶🪶🧡🧡🧡 on the front is the best way for this doll to wear her hat👒🪶🧡!!!! I so LOVE this Jumeau's coral colored broach too💖💖💖💖💖!!! Rachel, although I so miss seeing Linda's talents, Christopher is very artistic and talented too and he did well in fixing up this Jumeau doll's arms and clothing!! It is amazing that this Jumeau Doll is 154 years old😃😲 and she looks amazing💯💯💯💯💯!!!! And I was wondering, do you think that an antique doll's clothing that is made from cotton could be put in a washing machine on a handwash setting or a delicate setting using All Free and Clear Detergent🤔🤔?? I know my Late Dad had a Brick and Mortar Fabric Store and my Late Dad would say to NEVER use bleach on such antique clothing because bleach would weaken the materials!! Rachel and Christopher, thank you so much for this very educational and fun video on how you fixed and cleaned up this beautiful Jumeau's clothing!! And I so LOVE her purse too😃😃💖💖💖💖💖!!!!

    Thank you so much for filming these tutorial videos. I'm going to make my very first attempt to clean the clothes and doll I recently acquired from an estate sale. I have a question about the hair. The gentleman said he used a detangler, is there a certain brand I should use to fix the hair. It's pretty hoarse and bunched up of tangles. Was told it's a 1948 Horseman doll. Should I peel off the entire wig?

    The clothes don't disintegrate when they get wet?

    • @RachelHoffmanDolls
      @RachelHoffmanDolls  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      No, the undergarments are made out of cotton. The top silk would have disintegrated if we got it wet for sure, but we did a dry preservation on that part.

    Hi Rachel,
    I just bought a 29" Tete Jumeau. She's very chunky. I'm having a hard time finding a stand for her. Most of what's available are for fashion dolls. For a doll such as this, what do you recommend? Is there a Kaiser (3701) stand that would work? I got one in the mail today and it didn't work, not even close. I would appreciate some help on this.
    Thank you

    I've been using Restoration powder on antique clothes for 10 years w great success.and eucalan for wool flannel and silk

  • @pootiepompo
    @pootiepompo 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    And a big jar of restoration powder is less expensive than the other product...
    After the rinse a gentle squueze, i lay them flat on a towel and roll them. Overnight takes most of the water out then iron...
