What I love about doing faceups is being able to create a makeup look that will last a while at least. I love giving dolls faces. It gives them a character, and me in turn joy.

Love the sewing machines, my grandmother was a dressmaker and told me so many stories about her work. I helped her with her sewing too, she taught me and I loved it. So many memories when I watch your machines.
I'm sure that in a year from now, Christopher will be able to use them quite well.

Rachel, Paul, and Christopher, This video is ironic because this upcoming week, although I moved into my new apartment on Aug. 7th, I am now doing a Spring Cleaning with my Boyfriend's help because I have scoliosis and a herniated disc which causes back pain. I do not have as much stuff as you have in your store, but it is always an adventure to clean, especially for the lighter weight stuff, like Dolls and Teddy Bears that I clean!! I also use Myer's cleaners, but mine is multi-purpose, scented honeysuckle and it is really good for wood furniture!! And I so LOVE your Mom's large Teddy Bear🧸🐻 in the trailer❤❤❤❤❤!!! I also LOVE the stuff you found like the photo of Monica Doll trip to Grandma's house❤❤ because this Monica Doll looks like a cross between a Tony Doll and a Shirley Temple Dol❤❤❤l!! !And the photo of the 20" Monica Doll in her Debutante dress looks so stunningly beautiful💖💖💖💖💖!!! And @33:42 I so LOVE that beautiful 301 SFBJ Tete Jumeau Doll's sweet pretty face and her blue dress with white lace💙💙💙💙💙💙💙!!! And I so LOVE how Christopher fixed the Brue Doll's black skirt🖤🖤🖤!!! Rachel and Christopher, I would LOVE to see a video of when all the decluttering is done and not to worry, even if it takes months good videos are worth waiting for🤗🤗!!! Christopher is very artist and it would be really nice to have videos with Christopher once in a while restoring antique Dolls!!! And I so LOVE that Doll @ 1:16:44 with the pink dress, pink bonnet, and her curly blonde hair💖💖💖💖💖!!! You have to do what is right for you and your family. I think so many of us can relate to the side effect to collecting of having more stuff than can be easily organized. I wish I lived close enough to come help. I actually had a very interesting dream a few nights ago. I dreamt that I was in your shop with you and Christopher. Thank you for showing the miniature china head dolls. The first time seeing this show, I remembered my Grandmother had a few. While watching a second time, I decided to stop what I was doing and check out my Grandmother's doll. I got part of her collection, and there are 4 mini china head dolls. Oddly, one of them "spoke" to me. So I have pulled her out, and now she is on my desk. It is like my Grandmother is smiling with me.
I would be canceling my plans for the week. It would be Disneyland for me to enter and see all these beautiful dolls.

Gawd, I would be in doll heaven! I would love to help, as I'm a real organizer. I've volunteered for the past 20 yrs at a resale charity shop and I just love keeping things organized. Wish I could visit your shop. I lived in Colorado Springs when I was a child. My dad wanted to get a ranch but my mother, being a city girl from London wouldn't have it. So enjoyed this video.
I’m not a doll fan but I love antiques and vintage …truly loved the restoration and learning some interesting techniques and the tackle at decluttering a shop like this. My craft room feels like this but so much smaller…so I think I can tackle it now!

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved this video! Even though I’m in the UK, there is part of me that wants to get the next flight over to Colorado and help sort through with you - don’t worry I’m not actually going to turn up on your doorstep! I know how exciting sorting through things can be, when you find that amazing item you forgot you had. I also know it’s a lot of mental energy, trying to decide what to keep, what can go etc. particularly when the items have so many memories and emotions attached. One thing that really helped me when I was decluttering (not a doll shop, just my own stuff) was reading and using Maria Kondo’s method of asking “does this thing spark Joy”. Anyway, I’m sure you have your own great system for sorting. Despite the challenges, I know you will feel so much happier and lighter when you’ve sorted everything so I wish you all well with the project - also please do keep filming it because I just love to watch the process xx

Oh my word! Where do I start. These have always been my favorite videos because they are so inspiring. I sew doll clothes by hand and have made a couple old fashioned patterns. I am always looking for them at thrift and antique shops.
I am deeply impressed by Christopher's approach and inherent ability with the restoration. It's wonderful to see someone attending that position again.
Also, Rachael, your love of dolls is so infectious and you bring us so much joy with your deep knowledge.
Paul, I love that you are in the family business and such an integral part. This whole scenario just warms up my heart and makes me want to sew more and learn restoration of the clothing especially, but also the dolls.

Yes Rachel. Just listing one or two items on eBay, as an example, can be time consuming let alone hundreds and thousands of items such as your shop has!
You got that right! It is so time-consuming, and then shipping is very expensive. We love the subscription service, as it's much easier to ship!
You definitely help bring more interest to doll collecting! If I ever get to Colorado, I would come by and restring dolls all day just to meet all of you in person and be surrounded by all those gorgeous dolls! I need a Schoenhut hand if you come across any!

I am a doll restorer and I would like to say that I think with your guidance, Rachel, that Christopher definitely has the desire and talent to become an excellent doll restorer. I applaud the both of you for starting with the "easier" fixes and going forward learning as you go. I think it is so cool that you have Linda's videos to refer to and I just think you're doing a great job. Do you have Doll Restoration books that Christopher can take home and read to better acquaint himself with the techniques for restoring antique dolls? So helpful. Also, I want to ask you if you have a section of your store that is "as is" dolls for doll people that like to do their own repairs and doll dressing. Not everyone can afford pristine dolls or dolls that have already been repaired. Wishing you much luck and happiness with all you do. So glad Paul is working in the shop too. He really adds so much and I'm sure he is a huge help to ya''ll.

Martha Pullen does good videos on antique clothing. One thing That is important with natural fibers to fibers is to soak them in tepid water. Change the water when need. Do not use detergent on them until they have soaked a water

We would love a cash infusion!! I don't think Theriault's would want our bits and ends and unfinished dolls + parts. It's a ton of work for a small amount of money. After all the work, they usually gravitate to higher-end collections.

Dear Rachel, I am a Native 5th Generation Denverite. I have Followed the Denver Doll Shop for 50 -60 years and have visited and shopped there many times since their origin. I have been Restoring Antique and Vintage Dolls Since 2004, and selling on eBay since 2021. I have been an Accredited Antiques Appraiser By the I.S.A. Since 2002. Since then I have Focused on DOLLS. I have sold & restored numerous vintage & antique dolls, dresses, shoes, Restored Original Clothing & Wigs for HUNDREDS of dolls. My Reproduction Dresses have sold for several Hundreds of $$. My dolls for Many Hundreds. I would be Interested in working with you if you would let me work from Texas, Where I currently reside. LET ME know! I have a long history with that store.

Yes! Plain canned air can work great, we have used it before.
