    I just started watching your videos starting with the Gibb series.( Leah , you are a great editor). Thank you for sharing your adventures with all of us. I will definitely watch your weekly series from now on. (Also the earlier vids). You are all so lucky to have a great bunch of people/friends to share the trip with you. You videos have the feel of one big happy group and also as a big happy family! The cost of the trip in consumables and breakages pale in comparison to the memories and friendships you have made. I hope you all keep in touch with each other, as friendships are hard to find. Looking forward to your new adventures. Cheers Robert

    GIBB RIVER ROAD. What an epic adventure! The Ben Hur of travelling blogs, Leah where do you get the energy to film, narrate and edit for so many consecutive days/nights and still be an amazing Mum for your family? You obviously have a very supportive hubbie (well done TJ). The video, photography and sound quality is superb and Leah you have the perfect, clear voice for it, we love your down-to-earth style. We don't care how many times you say "absolutely" or laugh that wicked laugh of yours, just keep doing what you're doing and just be yourself. We reckon Five Down Under are giving the other well known caravaning family a run for their money. Brian & Sue, Bridgetown WA

    I have recently started watching your videos in preparation for starting the big lap early next year after just retiring. I have been doing research for months about power requirements for our caravan, I have noted in another of your videos your current solar / battery setup in the Franklin, you also mentioned you would add more battery capacity to do another lap. I will updating our current solar/battery setup shortly. I have 3 questions - In your experience, What would be the minimum battery capacity/solar panel needs and Is a DC/DC charger needed off the vehicle battery ? There is only 2 people. Also, Are portable generators still in use or is my 2kva Honda destined for retirement as well. I am busy catching up all your videos and love your comments.

    • @fivedownunder
      @fivedownunder  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thankyou so much for watching our videos! 🤗
      So it all depends on what appliances you are wanting to run when off grid, and are you wanting an inverter. Our biggest power draw is starlink, we also run our inverter to use our microwave and coffee machine off grid.
      Ideally with our 200 amps of lithium I would want atleast 500 amps of solar to keep the batteries charged. It's always better to add more solar than another battery.
      We will be adding more battery power and as much solar as we can on the roof so we don't have to worry at all 😄
      We love having our DC/DC charger, ours is in the caravan, we added this after and 100% recommend it, as it allows maximum charge while driving.
      Depending on how big of a solar set up you go, will determine if you need a generator, we carry one for emergencies but once we upgrade our whole system we probably won't bring it, as we've only used it a handful of times.
      Hopefully all this info helps 😁😍
