- Took the Q4 from Penicuik to Coombe Abbey and back in one day. (620+ miles / 1000km)
No dramas, no fuss.
Used the E-Tron Charge Service card at Ionity and Porsche chargers with no problem.
Dash cam footage filmed on the Fitcamx 4K camera but I had to downsize to 1080p as my phone ran out of storage 🙄

So seriously, another super informative video, that makes clear driving long distance with an EV isn't all that complicated, and the Q4 is a great car for it. I have been sharing your video's with people who are looking into getting an Q4. It's good to see real life usage of the car. Is it perfect ? no. Are you happy, clearly. That's what I take away. And I just can't wait for mine to be delivered.
Glad you’re enjoying the videos👍🏻 Yeah I’m really enjoying the car, it’s probably the best car I’ve ever owned all round. My 520d had a better range (over 800 miles if you drove sensibly) but the range on the Q4 is plenty for my needs plus I can’t drive more than about 3 hours without needing either a caffeine or food stop 😂 It’s more practical and has more interior space than the 520d too 👍🏻
It’s definitely not perfect but I think it’s worth the wait👍🏻

I partly wish I had gone for the augmented reality hud as it looks awesome. This would have been the first time in a year I would have really needed it though 😂

@@edinreviews the issue is the cost of adding it. My car is on a company lease, because the benefit in kind tax on EVs is only 2% I was able to spec mine right up. Having the company car option of no deposit,£500 per month net, 15k per year mileage was way better than the £7k, £700 per month and 5k per year mileage Audi wanted on their scheme!
@@timallen6324 I’m similar. I’ve got mine on salary sacrifice for £420 a month net but only 10k miles. I’m gonna have to get that upped as I underestimated how much I would use it 😲😂
@@edinreviews that's brilliant though. Mine is loads more because by the time I'd add all the extras the cost of the car was £55k. Audi are a total rip off for what isn't standard on their vehicles

I'm still between two minds when it comes to choosing between q4 and M3 long range.
As much as I do love the size of Audi, long journeys would be half the price of what you paid here in tesla....eh.
Good perspective. 622 miles for £62.66! Is a crazy record by any one's reckoning. Wow!
But that's skipping the fact that he was already at 100%. So i would say it was around 400 miles for £62.66.
Doesn’t it add extra time to a journey? Charging stop times adding to overall journey length.
Yeah it does, but not as much as I thought it would. For that type of journey I’d have probably spent at least and hour stopped to eat/drink/visit a toilet anyway. I did a similar journey a few years back in a BMW diesel- the car only used 3/4 of a tank covering 670 miles, but I had 3 food/rest stops.
While you’re doing those things the car can be charging🤔

😂 I saw some chargers in the car park but they were all either ICEd or in use🤦♂️ Worked out ok as we attended an online meeting while waiting at Stafford which in turn saved us charging time on the way back👍🏻
The VW ID series are all getting their 3.1 software updates. Has you Q4 ever had a software update? I can't help feeling that Audi are doing absolutely nothing about updating this 2 year old car.
I read about an update this time last year just before mine arrived, and there was a press release around Feb/March but I’ve not heard anything about it since. I’ve not had any updates done to mine.

When you get your Q4 you can sign up for one of Audi’s charging services. There are various tariffs- I just took the free one as I don’t charge on ultra rapid chargers very often. They invoice you for your charging monthly.

Tbh it seems like a normal diesel car is not only cheaper in fuel efficiency but also no additional stops required.
The cheaper part only applies if you use the most expensive chargers compared to “normal” fuel prices. Did a video about that about 18 months ago- I’ll maybe do an update one with current prices 👍🏻 As for additional stops again it really depends on how far you can go without a break. I did a 670 mile round trip in a 318d a few years ago (average 61mpg!) but the car’s range was farther the my bladder/sanity/focus could manage. I stopped the same number of times as I would have in the Q4, though each stop was slightly shorter.
@edinreviews Thanks for the reply. I've ordered the Audi Q4 through Sal Sac, so trying to see how inconvenient long trips are going to be. I'm more concerned around the charging infrastructure but you seemed to have faired okay. Is the charging infrastructure good in the UK?
@@waqmanime I think it’s getting better but can still be a bit of a lottery depending on where you are. Most of my journeys are relatively short and I have a destination charger (which gives me 11kW) charger under 100m from my house so it’s never been an issue for me. Some areas are a bit of a nightmare I believe

Mine has been in for a heat pump failure on the battery. Sorted in two days.
Two days isn’t too bad. Does the heat pump make a big difference? I didn’t think it would be worthwhile for mile 9 mile commute lol
I stuck to the speed limit all the way and used cruise control. 60mph as much as possible on the A702 then 70mph on the M74 and M6 apart from the roadworks 🚧
@@edinreviews to be honest I have no idea.The Fault came up in the middle of nowhere. Literally. I phoned. You need to call for roadside! I drove it there anyway.
They sorted the squeaking seat.
The Privacy thing at start up. They said you have to sort that through the app.

in order to calculate the total cost of 1000 km driving, you must make a final charge up to 100%, basically back to the charge level at the start of the journey.
True, but I charged in a free charger up to 100% before the start of the journey, and a free charger back up to 100% at the end of the journey so the costs are accurate. Worst case my other go to charger at that time was 16p/kWH so the cost wouldn’t have been particularly high👍🏻 (£10.84 to be precise)
Is it possible to watch youtube or similar on the cars mmi screen, to make time go faster while charging?
Not that I can see. You can play videos from a USB flash drive via the USB-C port I think but I haven’t tried that yet

@@dannykzx7360 best place to look is a TH-cam channel called Enyaq Gorm. He has a Skoda Enyaq 60 with the same battery pack and drive train and does long distances in his.
Why charges soo low kw? Ionity can 125kw?
Arrive with a fairly high state of charge and a cold battery as there’s no preheating. I could have done some yo-yo-yo driving to warm the battery a bit (thanks to Enyaq Gorm for that tip) but I’m not sure it would have made a huge difference. I have had 118kW from Ionity before but that time I started the charge at 7%

Hi. I normally us A Better Route Planner but for this trip I used the MyAudi app as I was using my E-Troon Charge Service card to pay for the charging👍🏻

@@timpaterson2872 when I got the car they gave you a year’s subscription to the Transit tariff for free plus £150 of credit. I don’t use it enough to continue subscribing so I’m going to cancel it after the year is up.

PS, I have it on good authority that my Q4 is nearly here! Lex are hopeless so my company grey fleet MD chased up the Stirling dealership, it’s actually coming in 31/10!! So after the PDI, possibly see it in the flesh 1st week Nov! 😊

I thought 10p/m was pretty good too given that those are expensive chargers. The Ionity ones are cheaper than normal using the ECS card, but if you were regularly using Ionity the savings would be worth the £17 a month for the Transit account👍🏻
@@edinreviews cool, that’s good to know. I’ll see if Audi issue the free loaded £150 charge card. I’ll be sponging off the free charging at my work & off-peak 4.5p/kWh charging at home. However, PKC are dropping the free charging on the CPS network at end Dec, with a start rate of 25p/kWh.

Hi. My Q4 was ordered in February and up until last week was due for delivery next January. However a surprise call from Audi on Monday and I had mine delivered on Friday! It's so impressive

Love the look of the Ioniq 5, but the shape of the boot wouldn’t have worked for our dogs🙄 Soul EV is a great car 👍🏻
Best I have had so far is 73Kw charging. Pretty disappointing. Now it seems to wipe all my favourites from the satnav.
I’ve had 118kW from Ionity once when I started at 7%, and I’ve had 90kW from a 100kW charger locally. The sat nav seems to wipe everything periodically for me too 😬
