You explained everything I needed to know. I just cleaned some carbs on a motorcycle I’m rebuilding, but I didn’t tune the carbs correctly. So when I turned on the bike, it was full throttle and no way to turn it off! I live in Seoul, all the neighbors were coming out getting mad at me hahahah. Just had to wait till the last few drops of gas haha
A thousand thanks my friend. I did what you said and it worked perfectly! I actually put in a new coil and stop switch which didn't work, so I went to depot and spent a few $$ on a toggle and wire and it did the job. Again, many thanks to you.
How did you hook up the throttle on the mini bike? I have one of these and because of this video I got the kill switch hooked up, but om stuck on the throttle set up
Thank you for the informative video. I have a Briggs former pressure washer engine on my project that has a kill wire that is activated by closing the throttle all the way. Can I keep that wire connected and also add a kill switch like you did in this video?
Hi Edward, I have the same engine from a pressure washer. I'm gonna install it on a mini bike. Did you figure out the kill switch situation? Did you connect it from the existing kill switch or did you run another one?
Dude i have this exact same briggs engine off a busted pressure washer. Thanks! You deserve a medal. I have a question. I took the gas tank off and the metal lever that actuates the throttle makes a little connection with some little wire when its pushed all the way. im not sure what it does tho. haven't started this engine in a over a year. Also I was thinking about removing the governer. I took all the springs off years ago and forgot how they go on so might as well remove the governor anyways.
So, does this work on the principle of path with least resistance? With the kill switch off, the coil sends the spark through the spark plug wire , then jumping the plugs gap. Whereas with the kill switch on, the voltage goes to the frame? Thanks for any help in advance😊
Thanks a lot for your help. I have an old 72 Honda motorcycle with an electric start, do you think it will be the same concept for wiring in a kill switch for my motorcycle?
I have a 12hp Tecumseh lawn tractor from 1987. I'm running a push button start, and a toggle shutoff. But my concern is the 2 wires coming off the motor. 1 is green and the other is yellow. I've been told the free is the kill. If so do I wire it up like you did. Or is it done different on my setup. Great vid . thank you.
is there anywhere else i can mount this on an early 80's briggs 2hp because i think the coil/magnetron is behind the flywheel on my machine and i dont fancy taking a flywheel off this is the only detailed video ive seen thanks alot!
625 series brigs & straton push mower with drive , the sswitch that a red and blak wire plug into. well the prong for red wire broke . how do i wire it without geting a new switch?
I have the 1 wire also coming out of my son's 5 hp Briggs and Stratton. It was previously wired with a kill switch but it somehow came loose. It had a keyed switch, sorry not a kill switch. The guts of the ignition came out and I don't know what to do now???? Someone help
its basically thesame as the briggs motor but easier. just remove the side cover with the pull start, it will all stay together, you do not have to worry about stuff flying everywhere,, then you"ll the coil, its black and it has the spark plug wire coming off of it, then if there isnt already another smaller wire attatched to the coil, look for a metal tab, the one i show in the video, then attach a wire to that tab, then to a switch, and then another wire from the switch to ground
6 years later still as relevant and i think the only video showing this. Thank you very much.
You actually help me solve my problem when I came across your only video
Thanks so much
Thanks for the explanation and demonstration. This was exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks a bunch, needed a safety kill switch on an old cement mixer so not to tear your arms off. This was most helpful

Thanks for the video! Very helpful. Have you installed it on your mini bike yet? If so, how did you install the throttle cable?
This is a very informative video, thanks.

With the predator, can you just splice into that wire coming out of the coil, like with a splice connector?

Cool, thanks for that video. Good stuff.
Thanks!! I have a 23cc engine, but the coil has two spade terminals on it, does it matter which one I use and why is there two? Do know why?

I need help I bought a kill switch but it only has one wire to connect to the magneto but no wire to ground what do I do?
It only has one wire because there's probably steel on the switch and that steel will connect to your ground which is black.
very helpful
Thank you
sweet thanks
thanks dude
Very good video! Shame about the camera focus though...
