I have to say I will never fail to get goosebumps seeing the clip of Thomas Robinson blocking that Mizzou shot. I was a wee freshman at KU at the time sitting about 12 rows behind the basket when it happened and saw (and HEARD) how everyone reacted; it was something else.
I was on the other side of the court behind the basket. It was SO loud, and I was trying to comprehend what just happened (and please no foul). Incredible moment I'll never forget.

Man did this make me cry. 😢. Tears of joy, tears of losing my grandpa that I watched many games cheering and high-fiving him. Now he’s gone. Tears of remembering in 88 sitting in bed with my mom (she was a single mom) and her letting me stay up late to watch the game. I was in grade school. Sports touches peoples hearts and souls and KU basketball did that to me. 🥹🥹
The only shortcoming is that they needed to include one of Remy’s threes ldown the stretch in the ‘22 NC game. No Remy. No NC in ‘22. He should have been the game’s MOP.
The greatest sports year of my life. The Braves and KU won championships. Both are great but winning a National championship is is by far the greater than a World Series
I'm a Jayhawks, Chiefs and baseball Cardinals guy. Been very fortunate to be on the winning end of multiple championships. That is a heck of a year for sure....and then there are the cities of sadness who never see any of this.
This is coming from a die-hard Mizzou fan. I hate your team with a burning passion, but I respect your program so much. The history, tradition, and pride that your university has me jealous beyond any measure to say the least. Your basketball program has probably given me a never ending thirst for wanting to win. Every season where my favorite teams, the Celtics or Mizzou, don't have a winning record or have a championship, it tears me up. We had fantastic games against each other, even if a huge majority of them were against our favor. Does that make me happy? No. Far from it. More than anything it makes my desire of winning grow more and more, but I will always respect the Jayhawks.
I was lucky enough to see this live this year. It's always a special moment that gives me goose bumps each time. With that said, This years late night felt like it wasn't "ours". It felt less about the KU family, the students, athletes, fans and the school. I'm not sure who the MC was but dude wasn't good. Having DJ Chica Takei there also was nice but overshadowed the show. We stayed for Shaq's intro and first 5 minutes. Cool to have him there for sure. Playing music over the scrimmage was a distraction too. The show had very little interaction with the Cheer team, no skits from the men or womens team. a brief mention of the Football teams success (they were traveling to OK) and a stage that made a large portion of Allen field house unuseable for students and fans. Less band as well and it felt like when they did play it was shoe horned in during actually basketball scrimmage. I will say not having to give up an entire day outside for a "chance" to get in was wonderful. Also no gate crashers or where to park issues. show up when you want, walk in, take your seat. No running to get a spot quickly. This was an improvement. We drove home happy to have attended, happy to hang that banner but feeling like what was special about that day is a thing of the past.
I was expecting a crisper scripted evening. They had 4-5 months to prepare for it....but seemed like it was put together in two weeks. No skits. No really funny videos. No making fun of other schools. So the event is MEH. But thankfully the hoops and the Phog during the season more than make up for it.
So KU has the most dominant center in recent NBA history who has finished in the top 3 of MVP voting for like 3 years in a row and we have about 1 or 2 clips of his time here at KU. Nice job!
