It is safe to use the laptop when it's charging. It's just like charging from an AC outlet, but slower.

If your MacBook is not under high CPU load all the time, it will fully charge it. MBP only consumes 5~15W average.

Just to clarify. Concerning conversion rate, taking into account your laptop battery aging, you have 58.9% * 93.4% * 100Wh = 55Wh of charge. It gives ~74.3% of efficiency.
