    You're a great story teller Angus, I admire the research and the use of historical materials. You have a way of bringing the past to the present, while commenting on the future.

    They say ignorance is bliss, but as a Tasmanian, having Angus expose mine is depressing. Being told of the loss of a friend you never had hurts but knowing they existed is soothing too. Of all the TH-cam videos I watch, these seem to go the fastest, yet they are the most sedate. Angus is actually walking around Tasmania bending time.

    Thanks for Part 1 @Angus. I couldn’t believe how much history has been lost in Glenorchy. No doubt aided by the rise of suburbia.

    Thank you Angus! Another great video, complete with raven photo bomb, AND plover attacks.
    Govt chooses the path of destruction, and relentless development!
    Here in beautiful Tasmania, it's easy to see and feel the temperature and air quality difference in built up areas.
    I'm generally optimistic! Struggling here, thanks again for your great content 🌻👍

    One of my most favourite paintings (in the Sydney Gallery) is William Charles Piguenit's "Flood on the Darling" (1890), so he must have travelled elsewhere around Australia. And BTW, I hope you pay The Dog good wages: the battle for the stick at 1:50 was priceless, and he made the most perfect sculpture on a plinth in the overflow carpark at 6:45!

    In this context, there is an exhibition of the paintings by Mollie Tomlin OAM, owned by the Glenorchy City Council, which were some of the illustrations used for the two volume book on the history of Glenorchy, by Alison Alexander, currently on display at the Moonah Arts Centre.

    Just wondering how many episodes there will be, I can imagine it would have to be many to cover all it's history 😳. I lived in Glenorchy most of my life and have seen the many changes it's undergone, a lot of it not for the best unfortunately 😕

    • @angusthornett
      @angusthornett  20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +4

      Five episodes. I cover most of the things not already covered in other videos in the area. I believe the total run time for all five videos comes in at about 75 minutes. It was probably the biggest project I've done to date.

    McKay timber didn't and doesn't give a shit about this property, admittedly it needed work when they acquired the property but they let it deteriorate. Grove estate with the hop kilns would of been a site to see . Could of been a good tourist attraction, and the train park being so close as well

      There's much more to Glenorchy than people realise. It's a place that is easily dismissed.

      We discovered that our GG Grandmother lived in this home. Wright’s second wife. A young woman who could read and write, she first married a pardoned convict much older than her. They had 4 children and he died while they were still young. She had no choice but to give the youngest two to the Queens Orphanage in Hobart. She could
      not claim them back. She went on to marry Wright. So many stories of resilience behind these buildings.
