    the most front portion of the front sunroof glass should be 1mm lower than the back so it sounds like you got it right the first time

    Thanks, this explains why both of my shades got messed up at about the same time in my 2010 R56, I was opening the shades past the tape line to try and make it flush. Repair coming right up.

    Where did you order the replacement screen from?

      I think I purchased it from ECS. They are about $250. Here is the link for the front but they sell the rear too. www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-mini-parts/sunroof-roller-blind-front/54102757016/

    Great video! You only need to remove 6 torque screws from the inner rail to remove the glass from the top?
    If the rail is damaged on One side do you know what the part is? Thank you!

    • @mcmcminicooper
      @mcmcminicooper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes correct if I remember. I don’t know the rail part number for the rail that is attached to the car. If it is shade part rail that is damaged, unfortunately you have to get a whole new shade

    I personally would prefer a solid opaque shade. And the slide rail for it should be better designed for easy of use... It's too sticky!

    • @mcmcminicooper
      @mcmcminicooper  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. I don’t know what they were thinking with the poke a dot pattern. A poor design shade. Will eventually tint my sunroof

    My r56 the sun shade railing is spoil. Manage to get the railing from a parting car. Can I just change the railing. From your video the railling is fixed. Any idea can it be removed individually? Thanks

    • @mcmcminicooper
      @mcmcminicooper  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no idea. When I had it apart, I did look or noticed if the rails can be easily removed. Removing the sunroof glass is not as scary as it may seem. Just be very careful because the glass cost about $500 each. Curious, how did the rail or rails become damaged?

    • @samwong8132
      @samwong8132 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mcmcminicooper just got it. I have no idea what the previous owner did. But bad news is I just spoil the sun shade by apply too many force on the no smooth rail.

      BTW. The clip at the end of the rails is it come with the new sun shade? Notice my one is broken as well. When order the new sun shade does it come with the clip?

      @mcmcminicooper  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samwong8132 A replacement sunshade just snaps in if I remember. I probably should watch my video again to see what clip you might be talking about.

    • @mcmcminicooper
      @mcmcminicooper  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samwong8132 it’s a poor design, the sunshade material is attached the flat spring coils by heat sensitive adhesive. As soon as a little bit becomes detached, the rest comes off like unzipping a jacket. I plan on putting sunscreen film on the glass to better filter the light.

    Thanks, good video! I have problems with the front glass, it doesn´t close; I removed both glasses to check rails and the mechanism and it seems to be ok... any idea? thanks!!

    • @mcmcminicooper

      It does close or bounces back open as if something is in the way? I had a problem where when closing the sunroof, it would not close all the way as if it sensed something in the way. I did another video on that “finicky sunroof” What I found was over time, the friction between the rubber seals increased and this gave a false sense that something was in the way and the sunroof would bounce back open. Spray silicone on the rubber seals and see if that works. Best of luck
