Hunting serves a purpose in many areas - to help balance the food chain and counteract all the artificial food sources introduced by farming. Without hunting, the herd population would not be kept in check, potentially throwing things out of whack both for the animals above and especially below the animal being hunted.
Wild elk meat is lean and makes the best burger guaranteed my dad says. That's why I like to hunt. People think it's stupid to hunt but it's actually fun. Don't worry I eat what I kill.
