i dont get how ppl could say Pac wasn’t lyrical. Maybe his wordplay wasn’t as witty as his peers, but his words carried so much power that it didn’t matter
Personally I always assume they're talking about the rap technical stuff and not really consider that power as part of the rap but more as part of the person. As in, even in interviews he's able to speak those words of power, it's not really the lyrics, it's him that's powerful..
People love to say "lyricism has to be intricate use of the language" but I feel more listening to Pac or Nipsey than I do listening to most lyrical miracle spiritual rappers..
@@EricTheSwede completely agree. Very different context but I think Lupe put it very well when he said all royce's hypothetical hypertechnichals are just used to come across as master in that track. Sounds smart but what's the purpose. That said, I also love to decipher what the hell is going on in a DOOM verse 😂
People who say this think being lyrical is saying punchlines every other bar and that's it. Being lyrical also means your lyrics have meaning and a message and tell a story. By that definition Pac is one of the greatest lyrical rappers of all time
It’s so difficult to put Pacs albums in a certain order for me because I grew up in the 80’s-90’s,born in 1977. But “Me against the World “is definitely in my top 3. “All eyes on me “,Makevelli album “ ,”R U Still down “ are all up there for me. Big is my favorite rapper ever but PAC is my favorite poet and cultural figure.
I've always said So Many Tears was him telling the world he was in a state of deep depression, n needed someone to help him for once but he knew it wouldn't happen 😢😢
This album captured what it’s sounds like when someone can feel the specter of death stalking their every waking moment. It’s a look at one’s fear.. and ultimately their acceptance of their fate. There’s no other album like it. IMO, it’s the greatest album ever made.
I’m 45 years old and grew up in the 80’s-90’s and the music we had was first class. Especially the 90’s,music from every genre was amazing. From artists like Big(my favorite rapper),PAC,Nas,Eminem,Jay,Wu-Tang,Dre,Cube,Snoop,Eazy,NWA,Cypress Hill,Ice-T,Mobb Deep and the list goes on and on. From grunge/metal bands like Nirvana,Pearl Jam,Soundgarden,Sonicyouth,Alice in Chains,STP,Tool,Foo Fighters,Korn,Metallica,Megadeth,Slayer,Slipknot,Aerosmith (who had a huge comeback in the 90’s)Ozzy(Ozzfest)The Lalapalooza festival and so many other bands. Pop music and Country. I’m lucky that I was born in the late 70’s and grew up in the 80’s-90’s. I love these reaction channels and watching people hear Big,PAC,Nas,Tool,Soundgarden,Chris Cornell and all the great artists and bands of those eras.
Man 2pac always reminds me of my older cousin who used to play him and smoke weed when I was like 10. I used to be annoyed and be like “I’ll never be like that”. RIP big cousin, now that I’m older I get ur pain.
also Pac was heavily influenced by Scarface in terms of flow and delivery. It feels like you’re in a dark room with them whenever they rap. Scarface was more of a storyteller while Pac was more of a philosopher, although each drove in both lanes
@@corysimmons455 listen to how he rapped when he first came out compare to how he rapped when he was a fully realized rapper. to be fair, they influenced eachother
Learning what he was going through during this time and how he conveyed his emotions makes this the greatest album of all time. Who else could create this art with the world against them
Excellent reaction bud. One of Tupacs best pieces of works. One lyric sticks with me and I probably needed to hear it today. If you can make it through the night there’s a better day. Also an excellent documentary on PAC is called resurrection. Shot after his death but he’s literally talking about it.
What has always been amazing to be about Tupac is that how talent he actually was we will truly never know because if in a 5year period this young man could 5 to 6 albums 5or 6 movies writing poetry also being an activist n did a year in jail,if he really focused on one thing or had a longer life think of the music in how much better he would have..
Great reaction people forget how young pac was and the issuse and subject matter he was addressing While facing court cases being shot up this was released while he was in prison This is yrs before deathrow he was and still is the most complete hip hop artist ever He made the songs that no one else could make or wanted to try and make his voice was so powerful
Dear Mama every single time makes me cry, idk why, just does - this is the first time listening to the song and I haven’t cried, I just smiled - PAC was speciallllll mannnnn
I feel the reason why Pac could write song so fast and effortlessly was his love for poetry and writing. That was what helped shape and sharpen his pen game! So explosive! The man was able to finish all eyes on me in two weeks ! Not only that but bested that time and finished writing Makaveli in 3 days! The rest of the 4 days were to mix the album! Hence the 7day theory. A total of 7days to complete that Makaveli album is unheard of and haven’t been touched yet in terms of how fast a whole album was completed. I’m guessing Pac has to hold the record for that.
Me Against The World is quintessential Tupac.I feel like his catalog post Me Against The World was filled with too much distraction. He went on a warpath after getting shot in NY.Not to say hi music got worse or anything.I love All Eyez on Me & Makaveli.I just think MATW represented the type of music Tupac originally set out to create.
Dang, putting me back to high school right here. Crazy man. This album still so good, top tier. Would love to see a reaction to Queen Ltifah’s Black Reign on an old school day 👍🏼😎
Thats wild tgat you just got around to hearing this album. An essential listen for anyone calling themselves a hip hop fan. Better late than never, I guess. I go back and forth all the time between this album and Makaveli far as whats my fav 2Pac album. I have Me Against The World somewhere in my top 10-15 fav albums of all time.
Old Head here 🙋🏽♀️👈🏽 😎 Been watching you off & on since you were with your partner on the OTHER channel. :) I look forward to the "Old School" reviews, and YOU should too. ;) There is such a plethora of absolute TREASURES for you to dive into that it will blow your mind - so Get Ready. ;)
Tupacs mom was a Black Panther. The fanily minister said that at age 7 when asked what he wanted to BE when he grew up, Pac replied "A Revolutionary." ;)
This is the reason why I HATE when people try to say they're the next 2PAC...2PAC was an intelligent black man with a passion like no other. His lyrics and wisdom was way beyond his years. He is 1 of 1. Kendrick Lamar is probably the closest, but even he would never say something so ignorant.
This and All Eyez On Me have to be one of the best back to backs in hip hop history. Honestly, I can't really name a two-album run as influential and popular. Hope you react to All Eyez On Me too. Heater top to bottom.
It’s kind of chilling that in Old Skool he’s paying tribute to how New York hip hop paved the way. Not shortly after, the entire East and West Coast war occurred.
Tupac got shot 5 times and was set up by his own friends and enemies. A lot of people was seriously jealous and envious of him as a man and his mindset to work hard 24/7 whilst not being an industry slave
My brother you have to react to 2pac’s ( at the time known as Makaveli) The don Killuminati: The 7 day theory. In my opinion the best rap album of all time and it came just a month after his death
