This event, from the grand announcement of *Blue Protocol* to its ultimate cancellation, will echo through gaming history. It will become the benchmark for any game with a development saga like Bandai Namco's handling of it. Future delays or cancellations will be compared to *Blue Protocol*, marking it as the ultimate symbol of unfulfilled promise. This saga has become so monumental that it now serves as a chilling reminder of broken dreams in gaming, leaving me with a lasting impact akin to PTSD.
This game was so beautiful and had so much potencial. Even with all the delays and red flags I was still hyped to play it. I am truly disappointed with this news. Now here I am coping that the dev team will make some kind of strike/revolt to force the big bosses at Bandai and Amazon revert this decision.
Why woud they the game is not realy that good what i have seen from Japanese players the gameplay is so insanely easy you can basicly solo the hardest content without a problem they have no real direction for it
My god... I am so tired of companies fumbling the bag so damn hard that they let an IP with potential just die before it ever really gets a proper chance.
Everyone saw the writing on the walls and this honestly wasn't a surprise. The game was already struggling in Japan and the dev time for them to update and fix the game just dragged on more and more.
This was expected, the signs were there: Troubled development, the delays, lack of communication to just straight up silence for months or years. Bandai underestimated what it takes to make an MMO and the hype was dead for a long time, people had forgotten about this game as new stuff took its place. There was no more expectation coming from this project and was just a money sink to support.
This is what happens when you put money infront of the product, Bandai and its team were incompetent since day 1, they made the game based on monetization and really poor on content, they tend to only release on japan which makes them fail faster, just like pso2 that was dead before coming to global, i mean the game had potencial but sadly didnt have a competent team to run it neither a leadership, it wasnt hard to bandai to shut the game has they were not making any money out of the game, the game even has b2p wouldnt survive has it was mainly focusing on monetization, f2p was the right call but they were incomeptent and newbies to the industry. This game was a cashgrab all along and people fall for it, not gonna buy a bandai game again if this is how the treat their community its not worth it.
Chill, they gotta put their money in Dragon ball Sparking Zero but I was waiting for the game to release MMObyte was sad you can hear it in his voice so I feel for him
@@nexokami I mean Bandai, not affiliated studios that use bandai has publisher, tales of arise was not impactful to be say it was huge neither Armor core series otherwise they would be meantion everytime.
Nowadays you can't play any mmo or gacha without worrying that if it's niche/obscure it's bound to get EoS, back then mmos lasted about for a long time or last even up to nowadays, but now a mmo that looks so different from everything else instantly dies a year in and must be closed like it's a plague, i do understand how the game barely had worthy updates in jp but wow it was something else that i think we never getting something that looks like this again, i really praised how the game had different characters, a different character creator, a ui inspired by sao, somewhat fun and expandable combat but seems the devs didn't want care about and bandai was ready to chop the block.
Not sure how known this is, but the game is going to be picked up by tencent games. It will be mobile and pc at launch. It will include new classes, skills, story, maps, etc. Upvote this comment to get his attention!
I really hope maybe they take everything here and try to have a Realm Reborn moment and relaunch. This game had so much potential. I just think given the style of game and their update schedule they should've been a pay to play game. With a subscription model they would've been able to have a steady income stream. Turn the outfits into direct purchases and adjust the drop chances to match a subscription model. Because free games always have scant drop rates in order to push people to buy material packs and battle pass stuff and the monetization isn't ever worth it. Especially to us out here in the west. And like you said, even B2P would've been better. Just having that steady stream would do wonders. Because honestly I would've happily slapped money down for a sub on this game as well as a few direct purchase outfits. I think another issue too was the imagines. Battle pass imagines being so powerful and practically required by players for certain content. That's a huge no-no. Those Imagines should've been something earned in game in the way relics are earned in other games. Just ugh...wasted potential.
not gonna happen. FF has huge brand recognition from a well established franchise with an owner who didn't want it to fail and so put its money up when it counted. This game has none of that going for it.
What a shame. I was really looking forward to this, pretty much more than anything else because it looked really good for the most part. I really liked the anime visuals and how the combat looked. I can't think of any other MMO I have any interest in playing. If this is done then I'd like a smaller scale game that isn't meant to be played for many years. Just jump in, have fun and don't worry about about it being a second job with the grind.
ah man I remember when I used to work for a game support company I had the chance to beta test Blue Protocol back in 2019. Aside from network/lag issues it was a pretty fun game, ever since then I waited for a global release but I guess that won't happen now.
If people pay for their product, they should be able to enjoy it, any time, regardless if it's not being sold anymore. You as a customer should enjoy your product anytime, and that applies to video games. Trust me this will cause video game products to be protected by legislation.
Thanks for always keeping us up to date with the news. It’s really disappointing that this game I was looking forward to playing with my friends is shutting down before we could even play it. Hopefully another MMO that’s stylized like this comes soon🤞
Wanted to play this too. Unfortunately, the second they decided to do a year long launch delay for global, I knew the game wasn't going to last. On top of (Rumorwise) them banning anyone from outside the region if they caught the fact you weren't from the appropriate said region. Something weird too is i'm noticing more and more games that do these split releases close down early/ don't release outside the regions. Most of the time it's due to funding related issues.. Sucks. Waited since what, like 2019 when they announced this? Really sad.
I disagree with you that if BP was a pay to play game, it would've been more successful. That will just create another Concord situation but in Japan, the paywall already limits your potential playerbase in a market saturated with alternative titles. People will look at what BP can provide behind that paywall and compare it to other F2P MMOs. You simply cannot look at BP launch state and recommend others to spend money on that mess. The game would've died even faster.
Maybe someone can take the assets and create a free private server. 😮 As long as they don't make money (selling the stolen assets), it should be fine, right? Maybe only have patreon to keep the servers afloat. But don't directly sell or paywall anything in the game.
Damn, I never wish the game to just shut down. Having Amazon as publisher already tone down my hype, the micro transaction kills off my hype even more. So I stopped following Blue Protocol news since then. I wouldn't expect my first news in a long time will be their full shutdown. I wish there will be another Dev to make Anime MMO like Blue Protocol and use them as a lesson to fix where Banco did wrong. I have to be honest my excitement to MMO is lower now that I'm busy as an adult and all, but I sure love to see another game like Blue Protocol or even better around.

An anime game that's similar? Uhh.. The closest you're getting is PSO2NGS. As of right now NGS is looking to be the definitive anime MMO, BP would've been a competitor
@@arcadiacopper2904 New Genesis for short, it's on steam, epic games, Xbox, and PlayStation, it's free to play so definitely worth giving it a go. The customization for your character is unmatched imho, BDO arguably may be a close second. Long story short NGS is the sequel game to PSO2
Only PSO2 NGS is almost similar to BP well of you like FF14 you can try the trial ver till you reach end contents of trial ver and try to sub the game if you like
Games really need to be good, to stand out on their own and different from what others are doing. Things like Genshin, Destiny revolution the industry, now we have so many games that tried to copy them and fail in the process.

The art style was so beautiful. I played a bit around a year ago and it was fun but the translation was a nightmare like DQX so I stopped then next time I tried, I was banned for being outside JP.
Every time i see clips of blue protocol, there are always guys running around in naked little people. I am more than happy that this game will not poison the rest of the world. Win for normal humans but don't be sad, Japan will succeed in bringing you your pdf-file dream game. 🎉
I was so confused about how a game making money hand over first could be shut down so suddenly, and then i remembered that the game i was thinking about was Blue Archive.
Absolutely loved the potential shown in the character creator, the classes looked interesting, and it's the only benchmark I've bothered using to document my pc's latest upgrades. So yeah, it hurt to see the news. (._.)

I knew this was most likely going to happen which is why I distanced myself away from Blue Protocol after so many years of waiting but the fact that it actually happened still is mind boggling. The fact that two big companies like Amazon and Bandai with experience and money couldn't get this right shows a whole new level of incompetence and mismanagement. It is disgusting. This game had so much potential and easily could have soared like GW2, FF, WoW, and Warframe. I really wanted to believe in Bandai and Amazon and believe that they could have learned from past mistakes but it seems they will never learn and are insanely unreliable. I will never again look forward or even glance at a game ran by Bandai or Amazon again. This whole situation is just disgusting and tragic.
Wow. I’m very disappointed, I would check everyday to see if their was a announcement about this game and this is the first thing I see when I wake up💔

i suspect some ambitious company will bite on this opportunity. it would be far more surprising to me if that wasn't the case given the existing interest in the game (see: comment section lol) and how far along it is in development
I wish someone could save and buy the game to countinue it. Bp is the most amazing game I have seen since Peria Chronicles shut down. I have waited years for this and was looking forward to it alot. Also the only game I found interresting. #SaveBlueProtocol
I already had low expectations with both Bandai and Amazon being involved so I'm not really to surprised. (I'm jaded towards Bandai after they fumbled ToC and ToL, AGS and what they did with LA and planned to do with BP. Neither of these companies seem to know how to handle live service games.) I still got Guild Wars 1 and 2 when I'm broke and FFXIV when I'm not at least.
The real problem was that the game wasn't funny to play.. and that's all, if the game isn't funny it won't success, it doesn't matter what kind of monetization they use.

@@xythiera7255 A different developer could probably improve the content.
People don't want to play another Amazon game. They won't make money and they know it
Sorry, but get a life! BP was not cancelled without reason. Is is just another standard Themepark MMO and there is no room for this!
Game Over Man... Game Over.
A Master-Class from Bandai-Namco how to DESTROY the most anticipated Anime MMO of the last Decade in record Time.
5 years ! for nothing ! 1)blame Namco for not publishing on their own 2)parting with AGS. #RIP
Even if AGS had published the game, it would still fail. The game had a good premise, but clearly wasn’t ready
they even encourage people to report and ban foreign players, their isolate backward mindset killing the game itself
This game was a cashgrab all along and people fall for it, not gonna buy a bandai game again if this is how the treat their community its not worth it.
they even encourage people to report and ban foreign players, their isolate backward mindset killing the game itself
Chill, they gotta put their money in Dragon ball Sparking Zero but I was waiting for the game to release MMObyte was sad you can hear it in his voice so I feel for him
I mean, Elden Ring was a huge hit by Bandai especially Tales of Arise and Armor Core Series.
@@nexokami I mean Bandai, not affiliated studios that use bandai has publisher, tales of arise was not impactful to be say it was huge neither Armor core series otherwise they would be meantion everytime.
The only MMO i was excited to play
This game has been sitting on my steam wishlist page for 2 years and now its gonna sit there for eternity.
Why not change it to mmo central
We didn't get Peria Chronicles, assuming I remember the name correctly, and now we're losing this...
I remember Peria Chronicles, damn that feels like another life time.
Not sure how known this is, but the game is going to be picked up by tencent games.
It will be mobile and pc at launch. It will include new classes, skills, story, maps, etc.

I still appreciate the journey we had together and the moments and dedication that you put (Thank you.)
On top of how Bandai Online declared bankruptcy and insolvency…just big oof all around
You will actually need a director like Yoshi-P to pull that off. I am almost certain there is no one with YoshI-P's caliber in Bandai's team
I thought the writing was on the wall when we got the statement on Amazon having several unannounced titles but no mention at all of blue protocol.
ah man I remember when I used to work for a game support company I had the chance to beta test Blue Protocol back in 2019. Aside from network/lag issues it was a pretty fun game, ever since then I waited for a global release but I guess that won't happen now.
typical bamco move. anyone with passing knowledge on their history saw this comming
Lol the last hope of Decent anime MMO man we gotta hold these publishers accountable wth
Sure buddy
I feel like some studio will come with a similar game in the future knowing the hype BP made around the world, we just have to wait
If people pay for their product, they should be able to enjoy it, any time, regardless if it's not being sold anymore. You as a customer should enjoy your product anytime, and that applies to video games. Trust me this will cause video game products to be protected by legislation.
@@WillyM4rTinEzLoQ Around the world... it's almost like it's idiotic to region lock a game when there is no need for "localized" version.
Thanks for always keeping us up to date with the news. It’s really disappointing that this game I was looking forward to playing with my friends is shutting down before we could even play it. Hopefully another MMO that’s stylized like this comes soon🤞
Man, I was so excited for this game
I just fell to my knees in a Walmart parking lot bro ;(
I remember the first trailer and the the first jp test. The future seemed brighter then.
Any other options for a mmorpg similar to blue protocol? I know there ist much like blue protocol if even but idk i missed lots of games cause of waiting for blue protocol and kinda looking for a similar option now
An anime game that's similar? Uhh.. The closest you're getting is PSO2NGS. As of right now NGS is looking to be the definitive anime MMO, BP would've been a competitor
@@raevenent751 NGS?
@@arcadiacopper2904 New Genesis for short, it's on steam, epic games, Xbox, and PlayStation, it's free to play so definitely worth giving it a go. The customization for your character is unmatched imho, BDO arguably may be a close second.
Long story short NGS is the sequel game to PSO2
Only PSO2 NGS is almost similar to BP well of you like FF14 you can try the trial ver till you reach end contents of trial ver and try to sub the game if you like
The fact that i thought the game would hold up till the release of season 2 of Shangri-la frontier.
the game would've probably been the closest we would have gotten of the actual shangri-la frontier game too lol
Shangri la even had references to blue protocol. In that video game shop
@@srlorenzo1517 PSO2 NGS currently has shangri-La Frontier collab and the costumes look good
Games really need to be good, to stand out on their own and different from what others are doing. Things like Genshin, Destiny revolution the industry, now we have so many games that tried to copy them and fail in the process.
It's so sad, I've been coping with the hope of this game releasing worldwide for 4 years.
I remembered I was anticipating for Both Blue Protocol and Genshin Impact global release. I was going to play both titles together. That was 5 years ago.... 5 years of waiting and hoping. Was interested in Tower of Fantasy as well (but never got around to it). This is such a huge loss and missed opportunity. My day is ruined. ☹️😣
Dang, I was looking forward to this!
Well, at least Genshin, Honkai, ZZZ, and Wuthering Waves are all going strong.
we don't know but it's prolly a move to escape partnership with amazon (one of the worst publishers)
Those of us who sensed the writing on the wall, aren't proud to be right. In fact, we lament it. This isn't what anyone wanted.
ARE YOU F***** KIDDING ME??!! One of the most anticipated games for me :( I’m so sad.
Rip BP this game should add in my fav list soon along with NGS and FF14, i played jp ver before gameplay is very good it was like my exp like in pso2 back then
I really enjoyed my time in the closed test (felt like forever ago). This is unfortunate.
Predicted this end from the very start. It was on sight
A (said) Genshin killer just bit the dust. Well played, Bandai 👏
You guys *BAN* non JP players, and your game *DAI* as its price 😂
B2P in this economy? that's just going the Concord's route
PSO2 New Genesis is still going and despite being slow on new content its a great game.
Excellent combat. Excellent customisation. Excellent player housing. I recommend it.
RIP writting was on the wall with how bad its been
I knew of this game when it was announced and talked about and I never did too much research about it for exactly reasons like this.. kills my hope for any game..
It's a bummer, I was genuinely looking forward to this game despite the issues.
it hurts lol
like come on can we get a single fucking mmo that works and is new...
Oh well. That's unfortunate. Now im even more excited for NtE.
Amazon just aint got that dog in em
Not Amazon fault that the game was straight dogshit
@j.p6815 yeah it just seems like anything Amazon tries to be a part of, dies.
The game was kinda mediocre by itself, can't blame the publisher for that
It died because of devs and it died where it was created.. in Japan. Amazon had nothing to do with it.
@@j.p6815 definitely not their strict guidelines for publishing in the west and all
Damn... I really wanted to play some highly anime-stylised, kinda moe-like MMO. I have some itch that makes me like cute anime characters fighting for their lives:P But honestly I'm not surprised by the outcome, That's the state of MMO's these days and it doesn't seem to change anytime soon:(
Idiotic business strategy after idiotic business strategy. The executives behind this game should never be hired in gaming again.
I have been waiting since 2019 and my hype died in 2024. Now I feel that I made the right decision when I got into Honkai Star Rail 4 months ago. Also I hope this doesn't bother you to stop uploading on the channel cuz I really enjoy your videos :)
The art style was so beautiful. I played a bit around a year ago and it was fun but the translation was a nightmare like DQX so I stopped then next time I tried, I was banned for being outside JP.
You hate to hear it...
(the sadness in B's voice tho...)
Tencent has a mobile version with beta testing happening soon if I’m correct, so maybe they take over?
That is sad news... I actually liked this game and it was one of the few that was not forcing you to gamble to enjoy the content...
Also what about blue protocol tencent version?
Absolutely loved the potential shown in the character creator, the classes looked interesting, and it's the only benchmark I've bothered using to document my pc's latest upgrades. So yeah, it hurt to see the news. (._.)
time for a rebrand eh? probably saw the Writing on the wall, amazon was already making changes that people told them not to do, and it was already in controversy... so.. yeah.....
Said goodbye to Blue Protocol, nowhere are hyped as Blue Protocol and yet it's gone forever. 😭 But let pray that MMO Devs would understand what everyone want like BP. 🙏
wat?
The fact i expected thie also fucking AMAZON
Plus the hype died a long while ago so i knew there was no reason to be excited anymore
It's funny that most people said that it's a *Genshin killer instead, they killed their own game. Rip
-
- Edit 1: I guess most people at the comment section are not born in 2022 (after when blue protocol trailer shows up)
-Edit 2: They used this word *Genshin Killer to pissed of genshin community back then
I don't know why they said that
They're 2 completely different games
More like the NGS killer. People said that game was going to get EOSed after a year, but it was announced after BP, and outlived it haha.
Only genshin players will say that tbh. This game should be competitor of ff14 and ngs
@@lambasted6886tbh genshin players didnt know other mmo games they thought bp is single player game i mean what do i expect from them? This game is competitor of ngs and ff14
@@tenten8472 because at that time most people are looking forward to compete genshin and no one else to compare for except tof (completely flop) so when trailer drops, all genshin players are discussing this game. Remember that was like 2022
This is so sad. I was really looking forward to this :(
I knew this was most likely going to happen which is why I distanced myself away from Blue Protocol after so many years of waiting but the fact that it actually happened still is mind boggling. This whole situation is just disgusting and tragic.
soo the phone version is still going up right? coping really bad at the moment lol
RIP BP.
didn't even get to try the game for global server.
F
Thats very sad news! 😭 i was actually looking forward to it
Any BP private servers live? I haven't been in the loop for awhile
Wow. I’m very disappointed, I would check everyday to see if their was a announcement about this game and this is the first thing I see when I wake up💔
Do I hear Tencent has control of the IP now or something? It could become a Mobile MMO?
bandai namco has been doing this to many mobage in japanese language, they region lock the game and refuse to translate to english. then when it fails just shrug it down like nothing happen without learning their mistakes. kotobuki hikoutai game is one of them that i played until last day closing server. its story actually interesting if translated to english
Wow... they couldn't release it here and let it try to swim?
i suspect some ambitious company will bite on this opportunity. it would be far more surprising to me if that wasn't the case given the existing interest in the game (see: comment section lol) and how far along it is in development
Does this also mean that the mobile version that tencent was making is also cancelled?
I wish someone could save and buy the game to countinue it. Bp is the most amazing game I have seen since Peria Chronicles shut down. I have waited years for this and was looking forward to it alot. Also the only game I found interresting. #SaveBlueProtocol
The last three months have been a series of updates in a much better direction.
Saw this coming when amazon made their move last year
Is there any chance that someone might buy the IP and take up the mantle of this game? I hate to see so much hard and beautiful work go to waste...
Is Tencent still working on the mobile version?
ggs for people who were waiting for the globle
i play on jp server
Enjoy while you can
enjoy the game until January and I hope Bandai Namco Online can finish the story till then
Good luck with the channel 👍
wow, really wow, to think the amount of work they put in, hype that was build up just for it to fall so quick
Thank you for posting the video.
I already had low expectations with both Bandai and Amazon being involved so I'm not really to surprised. (I'm jaded towards Bandai after they fumbled ToC and ToL, AGS and what they did with LA and planned to do with BP. Neither of these companies seem to know how to handle live service games.)
I still got Guild Wars 1 and 2 when I'm broke and FFXIV when I'm not at least.
The real problem was that the game wasn't funny to play.. and that's all, if the game isn't funny it won't success, it doesn't matter what kind of monetization they use.
What's this amazing translator you're using ?
