  • The Commission held its 8th Special Hearing on Deputy Gangs to discuss the Special Counsel's Deputy Gangs highly anticipated report. The report, written by special counsel, Bert Diexler, provides a history of deputy gangs in the Sheriff's Department and identifies the gangs currently in the Department. The report also lists the obstacles to eliminating deputy gangs and confirms that eliminating gangs is constitutionally permissible. Finally, the report makes a total of 27 recommendations for the Sheriff to adopt.
    Commissioners Present:
Members: Chair Sean Kennedy, Robert Bonner, Luis S. Garcia, Patricia Giggans, James P. Harris, and Lael Rubin.
Interim Executive Director: Danielle Butler Vappie, Esq.
The Commission approved (5-2) a motion to "approve Report of the Commission’s Special Counsel and that the Commission adopt all of Special Counsel’s 27 Recommendations as Recommendations of the Sheriff Civilian Oversight Commission. Further, that the Chair of the Commission forward the Report and the Recommendations of this Commission forthwith to Sheriff Robert Luna, with the Commission’s strong recommendation that he adopt, implement and enforce the Recommendations with all deliberate speed."

Organized crime is the simplest way to describe the situation.
Over 50 years of taxpayer funded gangs, and nothing of value to the community has been done about it. Systematic corruption and purposeful ignorance is still alive and well in the LASD. Getting rid of Villanueva was a good start. Now follow the will of the community and continue to prosecute the gangs of the Los Angeles sheriffs department.

The problem existed before Villenuva, and he specifically addressed and acted upon it. But its convenient to remove him once he started to investigate corruption at the County Board of Supervisors. Also convenient that the Luna, the democrat backed candidate, dropped the investigation.

Of course their gangs inside the police department ! This shit is stupid ! Take away their qualified immunity make them personally and financially responsible for their BS not the tax payers and actually lock their lock their damn asses up when they brazenly break the law ! Cops should be held to a higher standard than the public. But anywhere you go in this country you see them breaking the laws they swear to uphold with zero consequences !!!

I'm not even 14 minutes in and it's already disturbing. Arrest and prosecute them. This is unacceptable AND unconstitutional. Assault, harassment, attempted murder (tampering with cars), perjury, etc. are all prosecutable crimes. Where is the DA???? If the deputies broke the law like claimed arrest them. Why are you even dragging your feet on this?
The Constitution mandates laws are to be applied equally. These deputy gangs broke the law. Prosecute them.
Unless the DA and Mayor are corrupt? Or incompetent. I hope that city gets sued for not applying laws equally and giving deputy gangs rights, privileges and a special due process not given to other citizens. Looks like deputy gangs are above the law? I guess to the DA & Mayor don't care about the Constitution or public safety.

Are they at least going to have their firearms taken away? I don't think people with a known or documented history of violence should have access to city issued weapons.
For public safety, the LASD should be disarmed. Guns are NOT toys. If they can't act safely then it's negligent of the county to let them be armed.

I don't think there is anything more frightening about Los Angeles than the idea of Deputy Gangs. To think that there is a whole gang of rogue cops that answer to their gang affiliations and not the law is horrifying. If they were set themselves against you, you would have no recourse. They are a criminal gangs with the backup of the law. Several companies have tried to make me jump through hoops by driving to Los Angeles. I do not, will not, and will never go to Los Angeles again. I will not become a statistic in your dystopian nightmare.

Actual, law-abiding citizens who go to work everyday, play by the rules, and pay their taxes have nothing to fear from this agency. Tattoos amongst law enforcement officers are no different than the ones shared by military personnel--dating back to at least WWII--which were a mark of comaraderie amongst those who have faced death head-on. This whole donkey court was spawned over a drunken brawl at a Christmas party. A good portion of those idiots were fired for their behavior. Move on and stop excreting tax payer money over this. The State, and indeed LA County have bigger worries than this. If these hearings were conducted in downtown LA, most these leftist bureaucrats would have to step over a dozen bums and their feces to make it there on time.
The cops are your last line of defense. Aren't you people sick of daily, televised police pursuits? Aren't you sick of having your cars broken into? How about the poorest amongst us who wake up each morning, work hard all day only to find their $1,500 catalytic converter ripped from their car the next day. (You know, work, as in not sponging off the government).
Our homes aren't safe thanks to emptied prisons and lax drug laws. There are crews of flash mobs assembling to raid department stores and commit mass-theft because the felony threshold has been reduced. San Francisco has lost every high-end retailer due to rampant theft and uncontrolled homelessness. Oakland lost its only In-N-Out Burger due to high crime--and never once have they had to CLOSE a store. This scourge is on its way to LA yet you're going to destroy morale in one of the finest law enforcement agencies in the country? Wake your asses up!

The thing they miss is that a good person also need a working moral function; the two certainly arent synonymous. The latter being the least utilized of the two.
Every single department in the whole of america, ever single one of these departments have a deputy gang. Not only deputy gangs but state troopers as well. The litany really. This problem is insanely more advanced than anyone at this meeting is letting on. Save for the one gentleman that atleast displayed a marginal amount of emotion. This problem dwarfs in comparison every other criminal statistics this country may have leading at this time. The policing departments and the total corruption consuming every single city in america, is highly damaging in every faucet of life, from schools to communities to general safety and disaster readiness to business and planning, every single faucet. The untold amounts of money wasted on training, only to arm criminals for life long carreers withen the policing arm of the law. Its fraud at the highest degree. The long standing tradition of police gangs far out paces any other criminal syndicate both in practice and scale. This has gone on long enough. It's ether change or people will eventually retort back to mob rule. When a people is forced to reestablish the rule of law. There is no need for that current government in its totality. It's immediate removal of the present leading delegation, the systems revision and re-establishment will be the current order. It's sometimes better to throw away what's broken, instead of trying to plug the leaky boat. Even if that boat cost alot of money. For the current person charged with keeping order I would hope they not allow the failure of the latter. For their reputations and the lives of we the people could merit a much more disorderly approach. There is no rule that states protest must be in any way an orderly process. For those that do, pray it doesn't come to this. Tho it will do nothing in the way of fixing these problems. I would say it's a leading cause of the reasons we are here.
