I want a sock machine. I want one. However, I am not permitting myself to buy one until I finish all of these half finished projects. The good news is that one is finished and the other is half done, so I'm close!
I take the cone or ball of yarn and put it inside the tube while I make the heel. Of course, only works if your ball or cone is small enough to fit, but I just shove it down in there and then pull it out after Ive worked the heel. Ive found way less tangling this way 😊
You make it look so easy! You always inspire me to get back to my sock machine... until I start dropping too many stitches, then away the machine goes until the next video, haha
Oh yeah Felicia! 🎉Love this. ❤️ That jog annoys me too! Enough that I had to try HK “afterthought heels” on simple tubes with no jog!. 🌀 Boy that was a slowly evolving disaster. 🤣Bonus techniques video for me too since I usually knit toe up and haven’t ever tried a turned hem on my CSM. 🦋THANK YOU!
There's so much more to circular sock knitting machines than I ever imagined. For now, I'm going to leave them to Other People. But it's fascinating to learn about them.
Hi Felicia! I love watching all your csm videos - it’s so inspiring and totally makes me want to get a csm of my own! Is there a pattern name for the top you’re wearing in this video?
Don’t know if you’re thinking about fit, but just in case - I make my handknit socks with heel and gusset because I like the fit better, but I’ve discovered I that if I make a very deep heel (just more stitches up from 3 & 6 o’clock marks), the CSM short row socks fit me just fine. I use a 72 cylinder and do +6 on each side of my extra deep heel. ☺️
Hi, loved this video, I would be the same as you. It just has to be right. I’m looking to buy a machine like yours, but I’m unsure if I really need the ribber. Do you use it much? I have a Dean and Bean and find a soft cuff most comfortable. Can I do the same on your type of machine?
So I’ve had my Erlbacher for about two years now I think, and I’ve only used the ribber a few times. It’s on my list to learn and master 💪 but I just haven’t had a chance to focus on it yet. Probably 98% of my CSM socks are stockinette with a hung hem 🤣 The hung hem is probably the same as the soft cuff… I’d have to look it up. You can always pick up the ribber at a later time! You don’t need to get all the things right away ☺️
@@sweetgeorgia thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I live in the U.K. and I’m a certain age therefore I’m not really looking to far into the future as you are. I don’t think I will use the ribber. So you have helped me made up my mind .
@@mackenziesmith5861 great question! You can get different cylinder sizes for the machine that correspond to the number of stitches around the tube… eg 48, 54, 60, 64, 72, 80 etc so that can change the size of the tube, gauge of the knitted fabric, and affect the finished size. You can also adjust the length of the stitch which affects the overall gauge of the knitted fabric as well, and that also affects the size of the socks. It takes some sampling and testing to figure out what combination of variables will produce a sock that fits the wearer ☺️

You're the only one to notice the pattern difference. I think that it adds personality actually.

Thanks so much. Pulling out my Cranker and refreshing with you helped so much
Very cool. Thanks for showing the whole process. You are a great teacher!

Yayyy! I can't wait to try this today! Thank you.
Oooh, this is so smart. Thanks for sharing, I'll definitely be doing this in the future
Thank you!! Great info!! 😊😊😊

Your hair looks nice. A close up tutorial on fixing dropped stitches would be great!
@@scottcrable4966 thanks!! And yes, fixing dropped stitches sounds like a great idea for a tutorial!

Question….Can you knit in a heel flap and gusset on a sock tube?
@@ihesharema yes! I have done it once! It’s messy, but possible.

Apologies for silly question you may have answered before, but how does different sock sizes work?
