Just because someone is attractive doesn’t mean they’re pretty on the inside too. Also I think he is the better actor because I genuinely felt scared by him.
I was so impressed with Justin’s acting. He talked in an interview about how it was the worst to get into those scenes and would just cry to get it all out after filming. Sounds like a really mentally taxing role, especially for someone who seems like such a genuine, sensitive, and sweet person
One of the first steps of an abuser is trying to prove that they're your best friend and that you love each other for personality. They will try to convince you that you are the less attractive one even though you weren't originally drawn to them.
I like that that was the whole point of the story, attractive doesn't mean good yet people took it as ' romanticizing abuse ' because apparently you have to look a certain way to be abusive 😅

In my opinion, they should have kept the scene from the book where Lily confides to Jenny, her mother about the abuse. Jenny explains how difficult it was to leave her abusive husband, leaving Lily with a whole new perspective on her mother, giving her the confidence to leave Ryle for good. Jenny also confesses that she knew that Lily purposefully neglected to say anything nice about her dad, and is proud of her. In the film, it's implied that she already knows about Ryle's abuse of Lily, and simply stayed because she loved her husband.
To me, cutting that part seems to undermine the entire point of the book/movie. Like "It Ends With Us" is commenting directly on the effects of generational trauma and the cycles of abuse, the normalization that happens when you grow up in that environment and aren't able to parse when something is wrong. A lot of abuse starts or escalates around either marriage or pregnancy because of the increased legal or logistical barriers to leaving and the vulnerability. It's extremely common unfortunately. Though there's some disagreement on the starting part, it's far more likely that controlling behavior was disguised and after pregnancy they go more mask off or the idea of the baby infuriates them as a fetus has more impact and concern for a pregnant person's health and attention. Depends on the kind of abuser. Also an extremely vulnerable time trumped by the danger when leaving an abuser. The abortions bans means abusers currently can attach their pregnant victims in court for abortions or miscarriages alleged to be abortions. This has been your friendly PSA info dump.
Ellen DeGeneres showing up on Lily's TV was the equivalent of the V for Vendetta poster hanging up in Augustus's bedroom during The Fault in Our Stars (2014); pop culture references with far greater prominence in the books that only get tiny cameos in the films. 😅
@@withcindy Very true, like thank God they didn't include the cow sh*t line because how did that even make it through publishing. "The world may never know." 🤷♀
"Lily Blossom Bloom" is unironnically such a hilarious name (coming from someone who has a flower as a first name & sun in a different language as a middle name..)
anyone who hasn't seen Justin Baldoni outside of this movie and Jane the Virgin should really check out his work. He's not just a phenomenal actor, he's also a genuinely decent person with a history of thoughtful discussion around important topics like racism, women's issues, toxic masculinity, abuse, and war. he's probably the only celebrity who deserves his platform and influence.
I am the first person to judge Colleen Hoover stuff but when Lily kissed Atlas while flipping off the bullies on the bus? She kinda ate. That was real.
What I appreciated about the movie was that Ryle had red flags even before the abuse. How he wouldn't take no for an answer. I don't remember the scene but when he tells her to shut up. There's lots of little moments of tension that quickly switch back to sweet. There are clues. I didn't read the book, but from what I've heard, that wasn't as clear in the book. He'd just "snap" sometimes but be good the rest of the time.
personally i found that the signs were always there in the book as well. i never liked ryle from the start because of how insistent and obsessive he was (aka not taking no for an answer). man knocked on every apartment door in her building until he found hers so he could beg for sex after she already said no. he has a topless photograph of her that he's blown up and flaunting on the wall at the party too. it's gross and icky. not to mention the anger issues, his opening scene is literally him beating the crap out of a chair. 😭 i think a lot of people just didn't register this as problematic because unfortunately this kind of behaviour is seen as hot in her other books and in a lot of other romance books as well tbh. hell, real life men get away with behaving this way too unfortunately.
the amount of gaggage…. there’s just NOOO WAY there wasn’t a content warning at the beginning. in this day and age, it’s hard to believe that no one forced them to add it. the horrible marketing choices is really the worst part of the situation, but a content warning could’ve alleviated some of that backlash - i did see many people talking about getting re-triggered by the abuse because they had no idea what the plot was
I totally agree!! I cut the scene short where ryle forces himself on lily but it's very long and uncomfortable. It should def come with a trigger warning esp if it's marketed as a romance movie
We are living in very strange times. People in my country are fighting the censor board to stop giving lengthy trigger warnings/disclaimers during the opening of the movie instead. I get what you're saying though!
I guess they were limited because the younger actress pretty much nailed Blake livelys mannerisms and looks and so I guess they had to find a guy that would match her age
4:40 i was waiting for that marine grade polymer comment 😭 i haven’t watched the movie but from what i’ve seen it’s a CRIME that they didn’t mention the true star of the show 😭🙏 (ALSO HAPPY BDAY CINDYY)
One of the best comments i saw about the end of the movie was how completely unrealistic and dangerous it was. People in abusive relationships risk of being killed goes up around the time they try to leave. To literally tell your abuser that you’re leaving is so dangerous. As someone who has not been in an abusive relationship, that was really sobering to read.
Yeah, that also seemed unrealistic, especially with no one else in the room. Maybe if there'd been a bunch of doctors and nurses nearby or something, I'd be more likely to believe it, but it's just the two of them and her newborn daughter... that doesn't feel like the moment or method to brooch that.
@26:36 omg when he said "She's pregnant, too!!" ::Gasping:: I laughed super hard!!! it feels like an asian drama at this point. Like u gotta have all troupes. Like when it rains it really does pour. XD but oh man that reaction was priceless.
When I read the book, I didn't view the childhood shooting incident as the thing that made him into an abuser. I saw it as just another time he was an abuser. Notice no one is around to say whether the brothers were arguing or whether Ryle got hurt by his brother and he lashed out. Just another reason not to have him anywhere near her or the baby.
Cindy, you made my very mediocre day a great day. "When he`s bad guy, why he hoooot?" and "Blake doing some manual work the first time in her life" made me straight LOL
i love the start when y'all were clowning her for saying she's an unreliable narrator but then when the true scenes are revealed you were gagged like she didn't tell us at the start she was an unrelaible narrator lmaoooo
Lol it is But it's true that millions of people experience trauma and not all of them take it out on their loved ones. It's important to take responsibility for your own baggage, so using baggage as an excuse for abusive behavior does not fly.
Lmao me and my friends literally just watched it this last week because i decided to force them into it. It was an experience for sure 💀 I'm happy y'all are reacting to this tho, suffering through this movie should be a universal bonding experience.
The least unrealistic part of this was that Ryle left her alone after what he did. In my experience, the man will act apologetic at first but as you refuse to reply turn back to violent anger and show up at your place of work or your new home (unsolicited). As others have pointed out, a traumatic incident in youth never excuses violence later. In fact, the vast majority of people with PTSD do NOT become violent. Just FYI
I love how different Cindy and Ellias opinions are at times and that they’re not afraid to disagree with each other or show different perspectives. Its really refreshing and it makes me reflect and want to change how with my own friendships I usually just agree instead of voicing my own opinions🥹
aww yes! its totally okay to have different opinions and that doesnt affect the friendship at all, sometimes its actually nice to have different perspectives!

OMG i was also making a joke about the three of them banging when that scene came up. I had a whiplash. Like, i just remembered what this movie was about
This movie is a mess, however, the one thing I really did like is Lily saying she is an "unreliable narrator" early on because I think this comes back to her not remembering the abuse as abuse until it suddenly becomes too much. In abusive situations, the victim can rewrite their own narrative and tell themselves it's not abuse just to survive and I feel like Justin really conveyed that as the director.
I did like how in her flashbacks they saw what actually happened versus her unreliable memory! I don't think she needed to explicitly say that though, they can just show instead of tell
@@withcindy so true. Sadly I think this movie didn't believe the audience would understand the subtly of that. The balance between showing abuse in a negative light and the realities of it are so difficult when you can't understand the complex nature of why people stay and I just don't think the film landed the message as well as it intended.

It was truly the most gagged I've ever seen him
my favorite lgbtq duo is BACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
yayayay we luv being ALLIES
I can't believe this is how I find out Justin Baldoni is white.
I'm so sorry.....
Didn't the fans of Jane the Virgin make a whole issue out of this? Didn't finish the show but I rember seeing something Abt then having to rewrite where his character is from bc he's not Hispanic
I'm a guy but i just felt an insane amount of body horror from the IDEA of being pregnant with your abuser's child omg, and that's just the idea fucking me up... women or just anyone with a vagina, hope y'all doing fine and never have to go through something like that ☹️
Unfortunately many do :( which is why abortion needs to be legal everywhere!! (Among many other reasons)
This is so relatable because it’s that insane feeling of being trapped 😭💔 like something you cannot get rid of 💔💔💔
A lot of abuse starts or escalates around either marriage or pregnancy because of the increased legal or logistical barriers to leaving and the vulnerability.
Yes! It’s such a scary and common scenario for many women.
I'm not hyped for the movie, but I won't lie. I screamed when the ✨Marine-Grade Polymer Chair✨ appeared. Literally the only real character
the true main character
The rooftop scene in the beginning has me gagging, this movie is horrendous
The dialogue was cringeee
I had to skip past until Cindy started talking! I have zero ability to stomach 2nd-hand embarrasment!
😂
Oblivion ahhh dialogue fr
favorite straight couple in the internet watching my favorite romcom, day #made
Straightness wins today
Cindy is so real for always bringing up Mal actor
HAHAHA he is my type
@@withcindy literally same girl, taste from the start 🤝
Ellen DeGeneres showing up on Lily's TV was the equivalent of the V for Vendetta poster hanging up in Augustus's bedroom during The Fault in Our Stars (2014); pop culture references with far greater prominence in the books that only get tiny cameos in the films. 😅
Even the movie knew to dial it down
@@withcindy Very true, like thank God they didn't include the cow sh*t line because how did that even make it through publishing. "The world may never know." 🤷♀
"Lily Blossom Bloom" is unironnically such a hilarious name (coming from someone who has a flower as a first name & sun in a different language as a middle name..)
Omg That's cute though, it follows a theme without being too on the nose
"I'm surprised she had the baby with him playing stairmaster."
I was about to choke on my breakfast, HOLLERING 😭😂
27:14 "he said DIVA DOWN!" CINDY- 💀
im sorry--
The dark wolfcut, glasses, tattoos combo rly eats up
thank u hehe
I guess your sponsor didn't need to send you any gags. The movie did it all by itself.
indeed it did
I watched this movie with my mom when it came out and the whole time she was joking about pushing Ryle into traffic lol.
As he deserves lol
Yes, joking *wink wink* that's what we'll all tell the police
Your mom is a vibe!
Wait i can’t believe yall thought it was cute even with her hair and outfits 😭😂 but excited to watch w yall :)
ellias was the one who said it was cute!!
And don’t forget Blake and Ryan using the character’s names for alcoholic drinks! Like “Rile You Wait”. Like WTF.
anyone who hasn't seen Justin Baldoni outside of this movie and Jane the Virgin should really check out his work. He's not just a phenomenal actor, he's also a genuinely decent person with a history of thoughtful discussion around important topics like racism, women's issues, toxic masculinity, abuse, and war. he's probably the only celebrity who deserves his platform and influence.
We got proven wrong yet again.
This dialogue is so cringy in film format, I'm dying 😂 Also you guys are so funny together!
Glad u were entertained 😌
I wish the younger versions had been played by actual young actors. You can't make me believe that that dude was a teenager
I guess they were limited because the younger actress pretty much nailed Blake livelys mannerisms and looks and so I guess they had to find a guy that would match her age
@@withcindy Yeah, but she was, what, 20? He was 40. They could've gone younger. I think he was older than the actor who played Older version of him.
Stay away from ethically ambiguous people is a crazy line lmao
FINALLY THE MOVIE REACTION i love getting traumatized twice
ur a masochist i see
it (split) ends with us
gasp
4:40 i was waiting for that marine grade polymer comment 😭 i haven’t watched the movie but from what i’ve seen it’s a CRIME that they didn’t mention the true star of the show 😭🙏 (ALSO HAPPY BDAY CINDYY)
Aww thank u for the bday wishes ☺️🎈
One of the best comments i saw about the end of the movie was how completely unrealistic and dangerous it was. People in abusive relationships risk of being killed goes up around the time they try to leave. To literally tell your abuser that you’re leaving is so dangerous. As someone who has not been in an abusive relationship, that was really sobering to read.
I haven’t read that book but that’s what I was thinking watching this, like oh that was easy…
Yeah, that also seemed unrealistic, especially with no one else in the room. Maybe if there'd been a bunch of doctors and nurses nearby or something, I'd be more likely to believe it, but it's just the two of them and her newborn daughter... that doesn't feel like the moment or method to brooch that.
you can tell ryan reynolds wrote that rooftop scene it gave mcu flirting...lol and blake lively really thought it was something to brag about 😭
Cindy unboxing sex toys for us was not what I had in mind when I opened this video lmfao
stranger things have happened
That end scene where she has the baby and then says she wants a divorce and he's completely calm is so unrealistic
especially since they’re in the hospital room alone!
@26:36 omg when he said "She's pregnant, too!!" ::Gasping:: I laughed super hard!!! it feels like an asian drama at this point. Like u gotta have all troupes. Like when it rains it really does pour. XD but oh man that reaction was priceless.
It just kept getting worse and WORSE for her 😭
@@withcindy lol fr
It killed me because he read the book before 🤣🤣 like the title is literally a line she said to her daughter ofc she's gonna get pregnant LMAO
elias and cindy back AND wihta movie reaction?? my life is complete
yesss and we also have reacted to 50 shades!! i gotta edit that
@@withcindy OMG??? Quality content coming out…
I just finished my midterm this is my treat yayy

its what im here for
Same!
i love it when i see cindy and elias on the thumbnail!!
awww thank u
Cindy's disappointed sigh then going
" I would to " was the best part of this video
Ty for appreciating that
@@withcindy ofc you're welcome
When I read the book, I didn't view the childhood shooting incident as the thing that made him into an abuser. I saw it as just another time he was an abuser. Notice no one is around to say whether the brothers were arguing or whether Ryle got hurt by his brother and he lashed out. Just another reason not to have him anywhere near her or the baby.
4:52 girl that's literally what i said when the cast for the movie was revealed. I wanted him to play Atlas so bad.
he needs to be in more romantic lead roles (that are not abusive lol)
The aging up characters thing makes atlas and lilys long term pining over their relationship that ended over a decade ago even creepier
Cindy, you made my very mediocre day a great day. "When he`s bad guy, why he hoooot?" and "Blake doing some manual work the first time in her life" made me straight LOL
aaaand a happy birthday to you, girl :)
@@kamikaze_reader_77 Thank u bb ❤️❤️
i love the start when y'all were clowning her for saying she's an unreliable narrator but then when the true scenes are revealed you were gagged like she didn't tell us at the start she was an unrelaible narrator lmaoooo
HAHAHA we forgot
“tons of people accidentally kill someone” the us sounds wild 😭
Yeah .....
Lol it is
But it's true that millions of people experience trauma and not all of them take it out on their loved ones. It's important to take responsibility for your own baggage, so using baggage as an excuse for abusive behavior does not fly.
Lmao me and my friends literally just watched it this last week because i decided to force them into it. It was an experience for sure 💀 I'm happy y'all are reacting to this tho, suffering through this movie should be a universal bonding experience.
it truly unites friends together
@@withcindy "Bring your friends! Unite your suffering!" 👐🌟
i too also bring up mal’s actor whenever a mediocre man exists 😍
Mal I need him
The least unrealistic part of this was that Ryle left her alone after what he did.
Just FYI
Cindy and ellias looking snatched today. seriously the vibes are absolutely amaziing
omg thank u i also thought we looked unusually better in this video HAHAHA
Fr something about their current hair colour, their fits and the background aesthetics is really hitting in this video ♥️♥️
I love how different Cindy and Ellias opinions are at times and that they’re not afraid to disagree with each other or show different perspectives. Its really refreshing and it makes me reflect and want to change how with my own friendships I usually just agree instead of voicing my own opinions🥹
aww yes! its totally okay to have different opinions and that doesnt affect the friendship at all, sometimes its actually nice to have different perspectives!
cindy's brain rot with mal from shadow and bones is so real 😭😭
"She wants her husband involved in everything"
When I wads a kid, I thought people like this were cute but now i find them cringe. Like, just because you're married doesn't mean that must be your only personality
Truuu he didn't need to be involved
Same! I 100 % thought that's what being in a relationship was.
When we saw young atlas for the first time, I thought of Mal as well lol, he's so mal coded with the childhood bestie/crush thing going on
Exactlyyyyyyy u see the vision
I’m seeing this while Blake lively is currently suing Justin
Watching this video right after an episode of a horror show is giving me whiplash
what was the horror show?
@@withcindy the haunting of hill house, I watched the haunting of bly manor last year and it was so well done that I finally braved myself enuf to watch this
@@chacharealsmooveMY FAVORITE HORROR SHOWS OF ALL TIME 😭 seriously I thought I didn't like horror until my friend made me watch Haunting of Hill House when it came out, and then Haunting of Bly Manor the next year. You should definitely watch Midnight Mass next!!!! There's also a really good video essay on it on youtube that explains all the historical and theological references in detail that Mike Flanagan actually watched and gave the seal of his approval by @upinurbiz, called The Art of Religious Interpretation (midnight mass vs god's not dead). Biz did a great job and I highly recommend her video essay after finishing Midnight Mass
I feel like this movie would have worked better as a horror movie, or at least a thriller, to be totally honest.
I still can't believe they promoted this as a cutesy Girls' Night rom-com in direct spite of the main subject matter, almost as if the ab*se is being presented as a Gotcha! horror movie twist. The actors did their best with it though. 🙄🌸
Ya except the main actress seemed to promote it as such too 😭
@@withcindy Yeah I heard about that. *Heavy sigh* Makes me feel bad for anyone made uncomfortable by this film who didn't know already what to expect from it beforehand.
OMG i was also making a joke about the three of them banging when that scene came up. I had a whiplash. Like, i just remembered what this movie was about
It was hehe haha until it wasnt

Not me clicking the link for lovehoney and coming back here an hour later like “ what was I watching again?” 😂
HAHAHA
I love it every time your opinions are basically the exact opposite of each others 🤣
It's what keeps us spicy
Damn this entire comment section is aging as well as radioactive milk.
here for the actual reactions 😂
hope u enjoyyyy
Not the Fruits Basket reference, I love it
This movie is a mess, however, the one thing I really did like is Lily saying she is an "unreliable narrator" early on because I think this comes back to her not remembering the abuse as abuse until it suddenly becomes too much.
@@nightmarepinster9713There's only so much you can do with the source material
