Inside the nucleus of the cell resides the *Chromatin Fibers* (Tangled thread-like structures) *Chromatin Fibers* enclose the genetic material within them. -During (and only) at cell division, Chromatin Fibers coil to form a sophisticated structure called *Chromosome* (X-shaped structures) Chromosomes are made up of segments called *Genes* Genes form the basis of *Heredity* in all organisms. (Heredity - Transmission of biological characteristics of either parents [sexual reproduction] or itself [asexual reproduction] to an offspring.) -Genes are composed of *DNA* (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) -(*DNA* is a sequence of multiple *Nucleotides* that contains the organism's genetic code. It is shaped in an antiparallel double helix arrangement) In the reversed manner: We have the *DNA molecules *forming functional segments called *Genes*. Many such *Genes* come together to form the *Chromosomes* *Chromosomes* exists only during the process of cell division. Outside the active period, the chromosomal structure remains as tangled threads called *Chromatin* (Chromatins are, apart from their structure, are the same thing) The genetic material is locked in the form of *Chromatin Threads* present in the *Nucleus* Under the system of regulations from the cell's Nucleus, *Proteins* help with the activity. The genes present in the Nucleus code for specific proteins *Proteins* perform various functions that we find in the cell Functions right from -Passing information -Communication -Building Structures All these are carried out by specific proteins. That is how the *Nucleus* help in regulating the various functions of the other cell organelles Unlike other organelles, the nucleus has its own membrane separating the inner contents from the rest of the cytoplasm. Its membrane has pores to allow entry and exit of substances across it. The Nucleus also has its own Nucleoplasm that is slightly different from the rest of the cytoplasm.
