Emily seems content and that's the important thing I guess, not what we think!

I don't mean deeper in the sense of worse or more concerning morally. I would say the same about anything people do more than average. If someone reads books a lot, there's no moral issues there, but looking deeper if they are doing it in order to avoid spending time with an abusive or controlling parent then that's a deeper issue to consider. Likewise if they're doing it because they love reading and writing and hope to become a professional writer in the future, that is also a deeper issue but again not at all in a bad way. It just looks deeper than "they read a lot of books because they want to read a lot of books". Hope that helps clarify my original comments, thanks for pointing out how it could have been taken negatively. It wasn't meant that way.
