quick note that all of the examples shown are on launchers, and launchers can be cancelled into super jump by just pressing up (instead of down-up, which also works) on hit for other moves, if they cant be super jump cancelled at all i think you cant suki cancel them at all but there are a Lot of regular (non-launcher) normals that can actually be super jump cancelled *manually* where you have to time the actual Down-Up input as they hit and those should be suki cancellable too as a result if youre lucky enough with the situation

Essentially it's a super jump cancel into a block, but the super connects with your character BEFORE the jump animation can happen. So that's why your character is blocking but grounded. Is that right?
I've never really looked that deep into the inner workings of this mechanic tbh. I'd say that you're on the right track but I think there's another aspect to this. I believe that what you've explained is mostly true, but that proximity guard is actually what prevents you from jumping. So it doesn't matter if an attack or a super connects with your character or not. It's the fact that your character starts blocking when there's any projectile on the screen (due to proximity guard)
Is suki cancel the reason sometimes the ahvb doesnt seem to go off right, or goes into them blocking more often than others? I noticed maybe msp is the worst and with his low startup frames etc.

Yeah, this. Magneto's sweep is probably the most common application outside of launchers.
