Thank you for giving back with these videos! It's very helpful. I had minimal experience with this game offline on OG Xbox as a kid and I want to get into it seriously now. There's not a lot of video guides compared to newer games, so your stuff is great.
So…much…knowledge. I been playing this on and off since it was on dreamcast. I pretty much only tried to land infinites on my friends lmao i had no clue how to actually play.
Lots of knowledge to get you up to speed! I won't lie, it's a long road ahead and you'll take endless beatings but it's all worth it for the best fighting game ever made. Plus it feels good to destroy your friends lol
Great video. Very helpful since I'm trying to get back into fighting games. Any chance of a Magic Series...series of videos for a few characters? Would love to learn some new combos.
the assist types aren't like grooves in CvS2 or other similar mechanics. the color/letter 'types' you can select change what assist, alpha counter, and Team Hyper Combo super your character has during the match. the color/letter themselves only change the color of their health bar and icon background color (Y assists always have a blue background in their icon and their health has a yellow to blue gradient, B is green and A is red instead) there are no differences between the assist types when the character is on Point (being played as) outside of their Team Hyper Combo super.
Good info but all that stuff goes out the window when you fight against a magneto and he's showing you his boot from every angle. That goes for a lot of other characters also. I would love to see a video of someone taking a new player and training them and giving them a gameplan or what to focus on during matches.
Hey coolsea. Yeah, this is a beginner's guide, not a "how to fight against an experienced player" guide. Firstly, I would suggest training with people around your own skill level because facing someone with way more experience is going to be extremely lopsided and not much of a learning experience on your end. I'm opening to giving coaching sessions and provide guidance like you mentioned above. Feel free to reach out to me on discord if you're interested in that @filthgnasty
Are there guaranteed OTG setups or can you just tech out of everything before getting hit? I guess the other question would be is there a way to punish roll or is it completely safe?
that's a good question! once someone has started the tech roll animation, it can't be interrupted so it's completely safe. there IS a tiny windows for you to OTG a character BEFORE they technically hit the ground which can prevent the tech roll from ever coming out. it's tricky to pull off but is easiest with magneto due to his 1frame c.lk. to get a good feel of what i mean, pick MSP in training mode and turn on tech rolls for the dummy. hit the dummy with a psyblade and try to hit them on the way down with a magneto c.lk. i'm sure you'll get it after a few tries. try to hit the right when they hit the ground or even a tiny bit before
Can you please do a segment going over Hyper combos and THC’s? I just started labbing and I cannot for my life start a HC and call in the other two assists to do a team one. People keep telling me to hit both assist buttons at the same time but it isn’t working for me. I’m also on a controller lol
Yo! Watch my first beginners guide if you haven't (link in description) where I go over ways to use your meter, which covers hyper combos, delayed hyper combos and team hyper combos. Sounds like the advice you've been getting is accurate. When you press the 2 assist buttons, you'll do 1 super if you have 1 bar, 2 supers if you have 2 bars and 3 supers if you have 3 bars. I'd recommend checking the marquee cards (move list) to find out how to do everyone's individual supers bc everyone's is done differently. Let me know if this helps!

This is a great tutorial, but can you please explain to me one thing: I can chain attacks on the ground just fine but cannot reliably do air combos. I've been messing about with X-Men, MSH and MvC casually for years but whenever I launch an opponent and jump (or super-jump) up toward them to start an air combo, almost every time my character just sails straight past the enemy like I've jumped far too high. One or two blows of any 'magic series' might connect, but most of the time I end up above the enemy, chaining attacks into thin air and am unable to maintain a proper air combo. What is it that causes this? Jumping too early? Too late? Doing the combo itself too slow or too fast? I don't know, I just know that whatever I do I consistently fly past my opponent, and the reasonably straight-forward looking air combos that I see other players do where they appear stuck to the opponent like glue while they use a chain on them seem impossible to even start for me.
yo! honestly it's hard for me to say what you're doing wrong without seeing exactly what's happening, but it sounds like you COULD be doing the combos too slow. you also have to know how many hits the characters you're using can pull off in the air. some do more than others. when super jumping, you can let the opponent get some height before hitting them. if you hit them too early, it could cause you to go over them. maybe try that as well.

@@FilthGnasty Thanks for replying, I'll try your suggestions!
Hey boss, thanks for the video. Are hyper combos removed from the game? If I use the ultimate ability again during one that is ongoing, it cancels out the old one. I remember on Dreamcast I could layer all 3 of the ultimates but I can't seem to in the new release.
Doing two light attacks consecutively will result in a medium attack. I go over that in my first beginners guide video, check it out. Linked in the description :)
I need to make some adjustments to this mix before I can release it to the public. I'll be sure you let you know if I complete (been super duper lazy about it)
@FilthGnasty Good look Fam, I've been trying to find the latest copy of the updated levels, br music, unfly menu and the colors. Closest I've found is the Heart of Mahvel mix and Khaos' mix.

@choboruin I, too, am a beginner :^]
Would you like to run some matches to practice some time?
Not sure if you're joking or not but ruin is the opposite of a beginner, don't let him trick you! This mans is a savage!!! 😂

Quality stuff Filth! I watched the whole thing!❤
I appreciate that! Be sure to sub cuz I got more coming 💪
Omg, the guard cancel thing is huge to learn! Didn't know about that. Is the guard cancel an intended part of the game, or an emergent mechanic?
getting the jump on content I like it!
Trying! Thanks for watching!

You need 3 bars and you can activate THC(Team Hyper Combo) by pressing both assist buttons together.
AmbiguousGoop is absolutely right, thanks for the assist AG!
