    Can you just change the trim without the ball on a 600 series? Or do you have to do the ball as well? Do I have to have my water shut off?

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am not sure what you mean, you have to have the ball installed. You could leave the one that is currently in place, if that is what you mean. It may have mineral build up but technically you don't have to change it out. Yes you will need to shut the water off.

    Ok so did it work?? I got the same one from Amazon for like $80 and it sucked. The handle did not have enough clearance to turn water all the way a d it kept getting g stuck on the sides when turning water hot or cold. This handle it's horrible:(

    I'm pretty sure the top two holes in the valve are hot and cold the bottom hole is the output after its been mixed don't you think?

    So I installed everything and the shower works, but there’s a very slow drip coming from the handle. How would I go about fixing that?

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you get a new Reno kit or just reuse what you had? Might want to check the seats and springs, also make sure the conversion ball is installed correct and tight in the valve. So the lip seal needs sit properly and be tight against the ball.

    What are the signs of a snapped valve? Our was stuck but I twisted it off before I saw any of this Delta 600 issue. I tried to replace it with another delta kit then I realized I can only replace it with this kit. So I had to put everything back on and I'm waiting for my order. it still drips but thats it. But now I'm afraid I may have snapped the valve.

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it snapped it would be leaking in your wall. If you put it back together and turned the water on you would see a decrease in water pressure in the tub or shower. If it's upstairs you might see a wet spot in the first floor ceiling. If its a large leak you might hear water running. If all you faucets are closed and you still see the water meter spinning, that could be a sign. A small leak is gonna be tougher to see as you may not see any of those things. A moisture detector might help. These are things you could look for. They could be caused by other things too though. To verify mine wasn't cracked I ended up cutting a hole on the other side of the wall and just visually inspecting it for a couple days. This requires fixing the drywall after though. Unfortunately it tough to see a small leak. If it's a large leak you will probably see water spots below the valve.

    • @dazeja
      @dazeja 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HomeRepairHub Thanks for the advice. I put it back together until we get the kit and I didn't see any decrease in the water pressure. Hopefully I'm ok. Also the area is right above our garage that doesn't have a ceiling, so I don't see any drips there either.

    Nicely done. We are about to renovate our bathroom and have a 600 series shower faucet. Since wall will be open, is it better to just go ahead and have a whole new valve (Delta or not) installed, or would current valve remain trouble free for a good long time with new seats/spring from the trim kit update? I know which way costs less! Thanks!

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would assume that as long as the valve and the pipes are in good shape it will last for quite a while, though I am not a plumber so I would suggest getting a plumbers opinion when it comes to that kind of thing. I personally am not a huge of the 600 series and if I was planning to be in the house for another 10+ years I probably would have changed out the valve. I just like the style and functionality of some of the newer models better.

      I would replace the whole valve as theses old delta valves doesn’t have monitor pressure balancing to prevent burns when someone flush a toilet nearby

    We installed a faucet like this but when we turn the water on it comes out the shower head The knob will not turn the water off we can't figure out what we did wrong. The shower knob only turns a quarter turn to the left and then stops.

      Sounds like the ball is upside down. Might want to just verify that everything is installed properly.

    I installed one of these after removing the old crystal ball. I’m having an issue getting hot water to the shower when I didn’t have that issue before I started. Do you have any tips to why I wouldn’t be getting hot water to my shower? Thank you.

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you swing the handle to the left do you lose pressure? I would check the ball and make sure that the side with 4 holes is on top when you install the ball. About the 4 minute mark in the video. It is easy to install upside down which could block the hot. I would just verifying there is nothing blocking the hot side or cold side and that the ball is not twisted to one side or the other.

    • @ADMLawnCare
      @ADMLawnCare 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the 4 holes are up top I made sure of that. I never loose pressure but I found that the hottest point is at the 11:30 position. If I go all the way to the left it gets cold.

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is this a tub and shower, or shower only? When you look at the valve are there 3 holes/water lines, 2 on the top and one on the bottom? Or is it one on top, 2 on the bottom?

    • @ADMLawnCare
      @ADMLawnCare 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shower only, and yes 3 holes total 2 on top with springs and seals and an open hole on bottom. The hottest point of water is when handle is at the 11:30 position it’s cold to the left and to the right.

      Alot of people have complained that when going from the old style acrylic knob to the lever style handle that H + C are reversed. It's kind of a counter intuitive design flaw with the lever style trim kit. So this may be what's confusing you and you're just not giving enough time when you think the handle's turned to cold for the hot water to make it to you through your plumbing. Otherwise the ball style valve is a pretty simple design so there's really not too much that can fail but a couple seats and springs.

  • @Eriquillo80

    Lost half my water pressure with this Delta 600 series. Is that normal?

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you may want to make sure your seals are sitting properly and that the ball is sitting properly. I had a similar issue once I installed mine and there was a clog in the valve that just needed to be cleaned out.

    • @Eriquillo80

    I wanted a certain shower handle when we redid the bathroom. The contractor used a different, ugly one. He claims that in order to switch it to the one we want he would have to open up the wall behind the shower to resolder it. Is this possible? I see tons of TH-cam videos of changing the handle and the faceplate yourselves in matter of minutes I think he's lying.

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So it depends on the trim plate and the style of valve. If you have a trim plate like the one I have in the video then you are pretty much limited to just the replacement trim kit that I put on unless you change out the valve. You usually can't change brands without changing the valve either. I think some of the newer models have different trim kits that can be swapped out but I am not completely sure. He isn't lying, unfortunately it's not that easy to put in a different style of handle. That's why I basically had to put in the same model.

      I had this issue. My showers are tiled. The valve is installed in the wall against a wooden beam. The only access to that to replace it is to rip out the tile or cut open the wall behind and cut through the wood beam. The valve was from the 80s and Delta redid it in the 90s and beyond. The house had a gold trim set with the clear plastic ball. My only non-destruction option was to get the stainless steel trim kit with the handle that matches the valve (retrofit). :(

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a small set screw that goes on the bottom of the handle. Did you screw that in?

    • @eli-ip5vt
      @eli-ip5vt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      DIY Home Repair yes I did I screwed everything in and it won’t stay up it just stays at the off position the whole time

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you take the handle off you can look inside the handle and there is a hole in the middle. That should fit over the steel rod on the ball.

    • @eli-ip5vt
      @eli-ip5vt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      DIY Home Repair yeah. I had it on the complete right way but it wouldn’t hold the weight of the handle and would stay in the off position

    • @HomeRepairHub
      @HomeRepairHub  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eli-ip5vt so if the plastic green seal should hold the ball tight in the valve. I would make sure the seal is tight and that the notches on the side line up. Then make sure chrome cap is screwed all the way on. The weight of the handle shouldn't cause the water to shut off.
