This is False/Asian Truffles. The cheap variety. As compared to the true truffle found in some regions of Europe. Truffles cannot be domesticated like some variety of mushrooms. They only grow in wet cool weather near trees.
Hmm in Benguet,Philippines during rainy season june-july they grow near pine trees on mountains. They are NOT domesticated(cultivated) but grows by themselves. Not sure of the exact scientific name. What is the difference of western and asian? Arent they same family fungi, why is one fake and one true. Please let us know. Also attach your sources for us to better understand
That mushroom also called bokod and yes not real truffles that grows under oak trees and pig dug it out underground . Not like bokod grows to soil like sprouting regular mushrooms.
As a Korean visitor , I found this one in Mountain Province. Looks like truffles but not real. Koreans calls it egg mushroom, here Korea we find many. I tasted it at a certain restaurant in Sagada very nice. I'm interested in Pine Mushroom. I will visit again to find Pine Mushrooms.
