    During my 8 years as a regular pioneer, I heard a good share of failed illustrations:
    *Failed Illustration #1:* "If your wooden house was completely eaten by termites. Would you tear down the house or get rid of the termites?" The pioneer wanted to illustrate why Jehovah wouldn't destroy the planet but the wicked people on it. The householder answered, "It would be useless to try to repair a house in the condition you described. I would tear it down and build a new house."
    *Failed Illustration #2:* After reading Matthew 13: 47-53, where it mentions that the fisherman would keep the good fish but throw away the bad fish, the pioneer asks the householder which of the two you would want to be? He answered, "I prefer to be one of the bad fish that were thrown back into the sea. They'll eat the good fish that they kept."

      Ooooh i would love to see a videoseries of that! Of course it would go something like this: jw gives her number to someone she thinks is interested in truth and they start texting about normal everyday things (how terrible) and become friends. Then the worldly person invites the jw to a party where there is alcohol and of course drugs and cigarettes and boys. Then the jw starts slowly living a double life and gets caught because a fellow jw saw a picture of her on ig at a party and she gets disfellowshipped.
      Convention video would then ofc show that she becomes sad and begs for forgiveness and happy ending back in organisation whoop yay fun but the real ending would be the now ex jw starting to learn to live a normal free life and maybe have fun sometimes with real friends.
      So who wants to make a movie?

There is no way Jade would have been that interested in learning about the bible so fast.

    I'm just five minutes in and already the supposed contrast between the morning routine of a Witness and a "worldly person" is causing me to facepalm so hard that my head almost fell off. Can I even survive a full two-hour forty-one minutes of self-congratulatory Watchtower stupidity?

    • @hannewoldeck2123
      @hannewoldeck2123 4 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      It`s interesting that although JWs always portray worldly people as narcissistic, selfish, arrogant, superficial, obnoxious people with complete lack of compassion for anyone but themselves, in this story they admittedly portray the worldly person (Jade) as unorganized etc., but she is also portrayed as a caring and compassionate person (gives her seat away to an elderly woman on the train, is witty, charming). The only reason for that is bc she is a potential JW, and therefore a good person. If she was not interested in the JW religion, she would be portrayed as an evil person.

    • @Cenindo
      @Cenindo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@hannewoldeck2123 The jargon for this is "honest-hearted person", which for all intents and purposes means "potential convert." Obviously they can't be portrayed as ALL bad if they are attracted to the Watchtower faith in the first place.

    • @hannewoldeck2123
      @hannewoldeck2123 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yes, to them this is an honest-hearted person, but in reality, if you`re attracted to the JW religion, it`s not necessarily bc you`re a good/honest person, but a victim.

To be around others who were interested in having deep talks about the Bible. I was young, naïve and depressed, craving community and acceptance. Didn't realize until I became a unbaptized publisher just how cliquey, hypocritical and just plain wrong this org was. None of our conversations were like I thought. Just spouting their dogma to indoctrinate me with their magazines and books. I finally had enough after trying for years to adhere to their beliefs. I didn't agree with them on so many things. I wanted to better myself with higher education and have a REAL relationship with God. I walked out during one of their annual conventions, knowing I was done with them. They still try and reach out to me because I was such a good student in their minds. No thank you. I'm happy to be free to pursue God on my own terms and not theirs.

    I grew up in Germany and have one sweet memory of being subjected to this method. I knew some JW people were regularly visiting my dear Grandma and leaving brochures with terribly cheesy pictures, so one day I joined to see what was going on. They were German ladies with residence in California. As a teenager I was not really well versed enough to know the main differences between their beliefs and common Christian beliefs, and why they had to have their own bible edition. I asked what they thought about the fact that chimpanzees in the wild showed homosexual behavior as an act of socializing. After getting over the shock to hear that this was actually scientifically studied, they said it could be the sign that the end of days was getting so close now, that even wild animals were now degenerating. I was going to ask if these chimpanzees were now considered sinners but Grandma wanted to know how all dead people would fit on planet earth if they would come back resurrected. The ladies never came back. I miss my Gomama. She was already diagnosed with dementia but was not to be fooled.

    A close female relative of mine is a JW, and it has ruined our relationship. She was converted while I was still away at school, and I remember her sending me the Awake magazines and the Your Youth books to try and convince me into joining. I did go to one or two meetings, but that was enough to know I would never go her way. I never did a bible study. But this last 30-odd years, she has never stopped trying to convert me. She'd go a few weeks without mentioning it, then it would be game-on again. Then I got diagnosed with cancer. That was the red flag to the bull for her! She ramped up her efforts to get me to join, before I might die! Well, I'm still here, and my response to her (my only sister, actually) was to block her phone number, and stop her getting in touch at all. She just made me anxious, stressed out, and I couldn't deal with her trying to "save me" and trying to get well and cope with the treatment. In a way, the cancer has empowered me to finally cut her out of my life, once and for all. I am sorry it's turned out this way. However, the JW's are all for shunning people, but I've turned the tables and she is now shunned by me. It's the only way I can live my life with any peace of mind and contentment - without her. Sadly. But, as Lloyd points out, they are not the same person once they get brainwashed into that cult. So really I lost my sister many years ago.

    As a former JW, I had many questions that I was never allowed to ask.
    If JWs are going to live forever on a paradise earth, what happens when the earth becomes over populated? Does God make everyone infertile? That would mean at some point there would be no children and children are one of the greatest blessings of life.
    If the earth is going to remain a paradise, are people going to live without all the technology and modern conveniences that we have? I would think for earth to remain a paradise, there would not be all the factories we have now. People would live on their own farms without electricity and modern plumbing etc. I love camping but always happy to get home to enjoy these modern conveniences.
    There are many more questions that I had, but was never allowed to ask questions because I was born into the cult. The first time I did ask a question was the last. I was made to feel that I was committing a great sin by blasphemy against God.

      Two very easy questions that I, as a non-baptized person who associates with JWs can answer.
      1. It will be a WHILE before the Earth becomes "full." There's plenty of space on the Earth right now that has yet to be populated, and once Paradise comes, it makes sense that previously uninhabitable places will become habitable over time, since one of the first requirements was to "fill the Earth" and also "expand the Garden."
      After the tens of thousands of years that will take, I'd assume we'd go into space. That's not like... a belief that goes around to be spread, it just comes up sometimes and we kinda just come to the conclusion "God wouldn't have made space so big if we weren't meant to explore it and stuff."
      2. There's nothing inherently wrong with technology. I'm positive that we'll convert to clean energy. Not to mention that when people from long ago get resurrected, they're going to have quite a culture shock, and will probably live as they did during their time.
      I'm very very sorry that whatever congregation you were in made you feel like you couldn't ask these very easily answered questions. Asking questions and learning the truth on your own and actively doing so is extremely encouraged. We DON'T want people to blindly follow. If you have any other questions, please, ask me! I'd be more than happy to give you answers.

    I think back to how I used these techniques...I thought I was truly helping someone but really I was using manipulation and dark psychology. We are taught to prey on those who are weak, stressed, and lonely. Those who aren’t interested because their life is good must have a hard heart, but a tragedy may ‘soften their heart.’ So many stories of how someone ‘came into the Truth’ begin at the pivotal moment of a personal crisis.
    Truly insidious methods of emotional influence.

    Jade and Neeta are unrealistic stereotypes the WT wants their members to believe is an accurate depiction of people in the truth vs people in the world. Neeta is nothing more than the quintessential ideal of JW's. Clean, perfectionist, organized, ignorant to common "worldly" jargon.
    And Jade, rebellious, disheveled, slang vernacular, sarcastic, and without meaningful goals.
    This video illustrates just how skewed WTs worldview is.
    ( For the sake of honesty I have to admit there are more people like Jade generally speaking than there are people like neeta.)

    "Your lack of understanding science does not disprove it" Someone once said. 25 years ago I had a conversation with an elderly JW woman who was a long time friend of my moms. My mom always told her that I was a huge supporter of evolution and science. Her friend thought she could convince me I was wrong by saying that if you took all the parts of a radio and put them into a big mixing bowl and stirred them around forever, that they would never come together as an assembled radio. I was like * facepalm* yeah. Evolution doesn't really work that way. You can not take a bunch of raw primordial chemicals into a giant ball and keep shaking them up and then suddenly David Hasselhoff or Gwen Stefani would crawl out.
    In this video I was really looking forward to see what Neeta was going to say as her comeback to Jade's questions about evolution. Instead of trying to disprove it or show her a viable alternative. She just concludes that Jade was more concerned about believing in something that she could not see and totally dodges her questions. We don't even see specifically what Neeta DID do to counter it. If I was a JW pioneer, I would be like HEY! show my which video or scriptures you used? I am sure that issues with evolution vs intelligent design, (or lack of) come up all the time. If I was a JW, I would think that whole chapter was pretty useless.
    And yes, someone please ship them already!

      We are in a time the truth is coming to the surface. It is just a matter of time, and humanity will know Who is GOD ALMIGHTY. Is the human god? Can humans be god? Can they play to be god? Can they decide about other lives? To me the answer is simple.
      Only God decides what is good for us, He loves us, we are His best creation, that is why he gave us the 10 commandments. I obey my God, King and Master? Who do you obey?
