Hi Norrine, I am a Single, 75 year old, retired grandmother with a tendency to get depressed easily, but I have recently been encouraged by watching your videos to redo my sewing room to make room for my crafting projects.
I am so glad to have found you on You Tube and love watching your storage and organizing tips and tutorials. But most of all I so enjoy your kind and encouraging thoughts you have for people who are having problems going through tough times with family or health issues. Your soft spoken voice is so powerful to me I could watch you all day. I just want to encourage you to keep up the great work you do and happy organizing. Love your videos.
    Janie from Washington state.

Wow Norrine, I didn't realize how much I have missed you. Ihaven't been watching much at all the last 6 months, apologies. Life does get in the way, doesn't it!! But, during that time, I have remembered so much of what you always say, because not only have I achieved a lot of organization in my crafting space, I have also been crafting daily....and loving my life...except for the bad stuff that I gladly put out of mind while I craft and when I'm finished crafting, I magically find the answer to whatever was on my mind before. I do take breaks, I do only what my body allows without washing me out for the rest of the week, I keep hydrated, I start with a goal, work out the steps to take and take one at a time. I celebrate each step and when that goal is met, I celebrate again. I now have support services that help me reach these goals, but the days they don't come, it's me making those steps on my own. I could not be where I am today if it wasn't for you Norrine. Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, the years you've put in to TH-cam have paid off with this old girl. And...they will continue to pay off. 😁🥰✔✔✔ Thank you from the bottom of my heart. So glad I'm watching you again.

Hi Norrine! Great tips and I do use some of them! Years ago when I was working my brother gave me a tip that I still use to this day. Say you have a to do list that has 5 things on it.......tackle the hardest one first. Then the rest will seem easy peasy! This may not work for everyone but hopefully it will help at least one person! Thanks for sharing! 💚

I usually make a Job's of the Day list when I want to get things done. I find it so satifying to cross out each task and also helps to keep my on track. When my 3 girls were young I would make list for them and it really worked with them finishing their tasks. Lists are my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for your video. I am a stay at home mom after being a daycare director for 25 years. I am a craft "collector" and I have very little organized as it spills over into at least 5 rooms of my house. I am trying to go back to my gratitude journal and wrote your tips in the back. Can you maybe collaborate with someone in the ADHD field and do an organization video? I feel like I do best if I can "see" all my stuff, but I can't have EVERYTHING out all the time. Sigh 😢 I am so overwhelmed. 😪

Thank you for these reminders. I'm back at organizing my garage. I had just throw stuff in boxes just to get things out of the way for the big project of building a chicken coop. We did celebrate finishing that with cake. It took I think 4 months of work. Right now we're working on building a front chainlinke and wood fence panel by panel. It will take a long time. We have almost 3 panels done now. We want our dog to have full access to the yard as well as future poultry. But yeah my garage is all blown up right now as I'm trying to make those big categories first and it's stressing me out. Feels like I'm getting nowhere. So I'm glad this video came out again.

Oh my goodness, this is so timely! I recently had a big reorganization project: Six stacked bookcases, bolted to a corner wall (about 4'x7'), full of a mish-mosh of books. While my husband and son were away on a trip I planned several projects for the week, thinking the bookcases and library would only take a couple of days. I was so WRONG, ha ha. Three of the bookcases needed to be sanded and finished. My vision for the corner had to be revised, the desk I was moving in weighed a ton, I had to find a place for the desk we are replacing, re-categorizing the books was overwhelming; and I was sure my husband would be cranky when he saw what I had done with his corner of the living room.
My organizational tools were my phone timer (40 minute blocks), breaks to check on my garden plants and feed the birds, time to exercise and relieve sore muscles, eat, and lots of images of my progress. It took me four days and the result is fabulous. The best part is that my husband is okay with the upgrades. 😂😂😂

Thank you so much for this video. I have just found your channel, but this was exactly what I needed to hear right now. I am in the process of crocheting a blanket for a friend, as a thank you gift. It is going to fit on her bed, which is huge! As a person who suffer s from chronic illness (M.S.) and also Congenital Cerebral Palsy, I have difficulties with many things. But I am also a bit of a perfectionist, and I know I put a lot of pressure on myself. Your idea about timers, is genius! I will definitely be putting that into practice from now on. Thank you again.

These are great tips! I’m usually really bad at limiting myself. I overwork ,shelf and just like you said, I’m wiped out for the next day or two. Today, I was out cleaning up some trails in our woods. It’s full of honeysuckle, which is extremely invasive and gets out of hand fast. I worked more than two hours without a break or water. Big mistake. I came in with a headache and an aching body. I often do the same when organizing inside. I need to learn to be more patient and take smaller steps.

Francie, stop for a few hours and reward yourself with one small create.
Set your timer for an hour (o4 take one afternoon if you can afford the time) and lose yourself in one small, afternoon or hour project.
When reward time is up, put the things away, display your creation and get back to unpacking, one box at a time. Take the small breaks, but when you hit major milestones, take a create break - but just one, small doable project.
The alternative is to do a bigger reward project in steps or sections, but that requires more discipline than I have.

Thank you so much for your tips. I love watching your videos. I have been holding on a lot of cardboard boxes from cereal and stuff for junk journals. But i never seem to have time for it, I also feel like I don't have an idea how to do it. It got to a point that there was no more space for them anymore . My husband also complains everyday.
I started to make mini journals a couple weeks ago after watching a video and I love how easy and cute they are! I easily made 10 of them in a week. After that I realized I feel more confident to make a regular size journal now. So I am planning to make a regular size that is matching my mini journals to go as a set. I think it will be very cute together. I also used up a part of my cardboard collection. Since my husband saw me working on them everyday, he is not complaining anymore. I wish I could show you pictures of my journals.

I understand. You do not have to get rid of those irreplaceable pieces of your heart and history. Maybe a box or a notebook would work for you since you mentioned papers. Their handwriting and the situation surrounding it can stir the soul. I found an over 100 year old grocery list in a family Bible and knowing it was something my great, great grandma wrote warms my heart. My mom's notes and my dad's cowboy hat are things I wouldn't part with. You do you and what makes you happy is just fine. Remember there's a difference between clean dirt and dirty dirt. Good luck.

I am right there with you. I have limiting health issues so there is alot I cannot do. My husband has become a almost hoarder of his things and it is driving my nuts. I am in a get rid of mood, trying to clear out and simplify but he makes it impossible. I have tried every way to get him on board but nothing is working. You are right, we cannot hurt ourselves for someone elses opinions.

As a neurodivergent human I lost you at number 1. I can't do goals, they stress me out and give me demand avoidance. I have to set up systems instead, with a general direction I want to go in. That way if it doesn't work out I can change directions. I call them my experiments. For example if you need to buy a jacket you might have an idea what you want but you have to go to the stores and try to find the right one for you. You can't know what will suit your body till you go try a few on, then you refine your criteria for the right jacket as you shop. But sometimes you might realise that you didn't need a jacket and buy a hoodie instead :)
