The button/earring idea, would be great if you have a bulletin board where you could stick a flora straight pin through the eye of button & stick on bulletin board. Would be easy to see all your earrings at one time.
The solar light is great in case you lose power. They put out enough light to see, you can carry them with you and they're much safer than candles. Love these tips Noreen!

The whisk on the drill. We grow potatoes. We got a brush that we can put on a drill - take a 5 gallon bucket and add potatoes and water. Then we use the brush on the potatoes. Sometimes³ we empty the water and add fresh water so it is clean. It takes the peels off, so there is no peeling. It is esp nice when needing to peel lots at one time.

Thanks for the update on your dad. If he is showing some progress, then he is heading in the right direction. Wishing the best for you and your family at this time. The pool noodle attached to the window is a great idea for very long travels in a vehicle with no air conditioning. We had to make a 1,000 mile trip in a car with no air conditioning, and at the time, I used a small blanket on the window ledge but if I had seen the pool noodle, I would have used it. Thanks for sharing the hacks that ranged from good ideas to not so good hacks.

Norrine my thoughts and prayers are with your dad and family. (Sending healing energy your way). I use a pool noodle on my window when I'm not able to get out of the car to take pictures of wildlife. I go to Kentucky a lot to the Elk and Bison trail. So having the noodle on my window saves my camera lens and helps support the camera.

I'm glad they were able to catch his sepsis so quickly. Our Associate Pastor's wife who is a nurse just did an informational session on sepsis. I believe that it was 60% of the time sepsis is miss diagnosed in the beginning. If not caught early, it can be deadly. She used the acronym TIME. T: Temperature lower than normal. I: recent Infection . M: Mental deficiency. E: Extremely ill.

I have been a diet tech, registered for 43 years and have worked with the geriatric population for the majority of these years. We have weaned many residents off of a tube feeding with the help of speech therapy. Of course, I am assuming your dad is pretty weak and most people don't think about how much energy is takes to eat. The feeding tube is a good thing to help sustain him during this challenging time. I will continue to pray for your dad and hope he can come home soon.
When I put laundry soap into a measuring cup, I use a piece of the laundry that's going in the washer to wipe out the cup. I have a clean measuring cup and I've also spot treated the shirts my husband spilled something on. The pool noodle for a window that won't roll all the way down is pretty close to genius.

Dad, You and family are in my thoughts and prayers. Our parents are infallible. They cannot get sick. Our feelings growing up but as adults it is so emotitonal seeing and realizing that they are just like us. When they get sick it brings to the forefront so many thoughts and emotions, it is difficult to process them all.. Hugs and prayers.
I got a giggle from so many of these too! I’m so sorry that your dealing with your fathers illness and hospitalization. You’ll definitely be in my prayers sweet lady!! My dad isn’t with us anymore, but we had him in and out of the hospital for years. It was a really difficult time for all of us, and so I do understand your heartache. I used to use the detergent in the washer all the time.
I am sorry about your father. Sepsis is truly horrible and you should be glad he is being treated in the hospital. My husband got it and I got to give him his medication every time (they put the PIC tube on his dominant hand for some reason). I was glad he was home, believe me, but I cried after his injection. It was harder on me than him.
Self care. Remember that is vital.

PS I loved the button idea as well as the paper towel suggestions. As far as the shopping cart grill I got a big chuckle out of there too it's amazing the creativity of some people although I don't think I would take that suggestion. I've been washing our laundry detergent cap for.years!. Why waste the detergent by rinsing it all of the time? Wash it!

Back when I used liquid detergent I would throw the lid in with the wash. But I would encourage that everyone give the new laundry sheets a try. I’ve been using the for over 2 years now and I love not having that mess.

Years ago, after my 6 kids kept taking my jewelry and playing with it, I did use buttons to keep pairs together.. Now that they are all grown, I no longer need to use buttons, but do have a couple of really small post earrings that I keep in buttons to keep from losing them.
I also have used my handheld food mixer (once I got a new one) to mix paint.
A few years ago I saw DIY Dani do a bedroom makeover where the laundry was in the bedroom loft. She used a drink dispenser for the laundry detergent and mentioned that the detergent cup can go into the washer. Having only a laundry closet in my upstairs hall, I purchased a drink dispenser from Walmart, placed it on the bookshelf across from the closet, and have been tossing the detergent cap into the wash ever since. Because the dispenser tends to drip after shutting off, I placed a small terracotta saucer under the spout. I love having a pretty thing to do laundry.
Sorry about your Dad's setback. Two years ago my husband had(he thought he'd pulled a back muscle) strep pneumonia which went septic in a couple of days. He spent 6 days in the E.R., almost dying of congestive heart failure on Thanksgiving night. After he was transferred to a regular room he got sicker again. The infection had worsened again. He had emergency thoracic surgery to remove infection. He went home on Dec. 19. On Dec.24 he had surgery to remove infection out of where he'd had a previous total knee replacement. He came home again 3 days later, on home I.V. antibiotics for an additional 9 weeks.
Sepsis is truly frightening. My prayers are with you for a good recovery.
