  • In March 2018, Steve was available to discuss the 11th album from Morbid Angel, Kingdoms Disdained. Steve discusses the album production, much criticised then and now, and his journey back into the bass and vocal hot seat after David Vincent left the band in 2015. He also talks about his camaraderie with Trey and his thoughts on clickbait culture in the metal community.

He is one of the absolute best death metal vocalists out there, just fierce sounding. Heretic is incredible regardless of what others say. The Acid versions of Kingdoms is much clearer as far as hearing the nuances in the riffing.

Dude love your podcast, just discovered today. Was a big fan of the early morbid stuff, but I just loved Formulas when i came out and was so stoked when he rejoined.

@ScarsandGuitarspodcast, have you heard the "Raw Mastered Version (Trey's Master)" available on bandcamp? It's loads better than the official release & still under the Silver Lining label

I have been a morbid angel fan since 93 and i cant believe you think KIngdoms has some of the best leads of Trey's career. To eac his) her own but i feel he has gone backwards in the lead guitar department. He almost seems to not even care about leads anymore.im frankly worried about him after his incidents on tour last year.

@@joshpelton8068 The solos on tracks like "The Righteous Voice," "The Pillars Crumbling"-with its Van Halen-esque outro-"Declaring New Law," "From the Hand of Kings," and the closing piece, "Fall of Idols," showcase a mastery of slides, tapped harmonics, and the artful use of wah-wah and vibrato. It’s all there, listen again.

Wish you had asked him about any new material on the horizon, but besides that it was a great interview.

Thx mate. The conversation is an older one, it took place during March 2018 regarding the promotion of the album "Kingdoms Disdained."

They tried to steal my guitarist in the 90's prior to the Formulas tour, and even told him to not tell us he was learning their songs. Steve was at my house showing him songs and I wasn't supposed to be there. Yet I was in the other room listening to them, lol. The only reason they didn't get him was because of passport issues. There's no way they could have hidden it anyways, cause the phone kept ringing off the hook.
