A truly magnificent very lightweight Alfa. I wonder how it would have performed in period had the larger capacity 2.0 litre GTAM engine been available at that time - possibly could have scared the living daylights out of Ferrari.
it is interesting how the TZ2 often times is referred to that as to a layman it has some visual commonalities. under the skin though the TZ2 is a far, far far more advanced piece of equipment from its construction in then very new lightweight materials through its more advanced suspension (true independent rear with a variation of double wishbone, made with chapman derived loadbearing drive shafts and long radius arms making up the lower wishbone). the GTO in technological terms was agricultural by comparison and presented a past generation of race cars from the era of the late 50s whereas the TZ2 showed a completely new era of GT prototype technology. another interesting contemporary quite comparable in its use of new tech, developed in the early to mid 60s is the Porsche 904. I love how engineers have brought these developments into the 60s and the most amazing cars in racing history that resulted. The TZ2 is the most beautiful car Alfa Romeo has ever had their name on, yes, even more beautiful than the 33 🥰
