Last 48hrs boiler has been running as it should. Made a few adjustments and now throw wood in and walk away and come back 12hrs later and add more wood.
The drip is normal on a cold start up for a few weeks or during times running the smaller differentials on the C/MF series. They all do it. It is moisture from the wood partially temp difference between ash pan and outside cooler air making condensation. A couple of things you can do to help is add insulation to both sides of the ash pan under the waterjacket side of the furnace (this seemed to help tremendously with my C. Basically, it eliminated it.) Also, leave a small layer of ash on the entire bottom between the ash pan and ash drawer. Once it's cold and the furnace is working like it should be with a longer differential, it quits. Awesome furnaces.
Ok. Good to know. The black drip is quite annoying but that’s what I figured. So far I can see why the c series are so popular. They are awesome machines. This boiler has exceeded what I thought it could do. Super happy so far.
Loader up! You can throw much bigger pieces in, doesn’t have to be split so small. Bigger rounds will last longer. I’ve found with my C375 that if I try to keep it really clean it doesn’t work as well as when I let ash and creosote build up a little in the corners of the burn chamber. I shake the grates about once a week in the winter. Seems like once you get some build up around your ash pan, you won’t notice the black liquid either. Almost like the ash pan door sweats from the temperature difference.
Yeah I know the bigger stuff will be better. I’m just using the boiler wood I have left over that I had ready for the g series. Soon enough I will be putting in much bigger wood. Excited to see how she handles that and the outcome.
Cycles make sense. The 800 has more than twice the water in it's jacket compared to the G10000. So it's holding more than twice the BTUs before it has to kick on. I can't wait to see you stress test this machine. Get your house, garages, snow melt, and kiln all running at the same time.
Oh don’t you worry. One day I will have everything cranked all at the same time to see how she handles the load. I can’t wait for that. If I was a betting man. I bet she doesn’t struggle one bit.
I installed a C150 in late March. I only had 4 burns of 3-4 days each since the weather warmed up, but mine does the same black ugly drip from the ash pan.
i think your new stove will get longer burn times with larger pieces of firewood. That was my experience with my Central Boiler 6048. Good luck with the new stove!
Yeah I’m excited to get to the totes with the larger pieces to see how the stove reacts to those. I hope a little longer burn times and maybe a little less wood consumption.
I am curious to see what this winter brings for you. I am very interested to hear about your wood consumption this upcoming winter, comparing the 2 boilers. I have been following your G1000 journey because I am interested in purchasing a boiler to heat my house and garage.
Yeah I’m also curious to see wood consumption this upcoming winter. I think with my kiln running right now that that is double anyone’s heat demand with a house and shop and right now my wood consumption if I had to guess is about a facecord every 3/4 days.
I will start to excitement with the differential once I know for sure she will stay lit with the 5 for now and then cheap it back a degree and see what happens.
@shioctonautomotive647 I enjoy making the content. The more I can put out there the better. It may help someone. Only hear to help and motivate if I can.
Glad you got it figured out (at least for now🤞) 😊 The dripping has me confused, I know you use dry wood. If it isn't inherent to the machine, maybe an air leak to the ash clean out that is causing the outside air to condensate? Making the outside air convert to water once it comes into contact with heat 🤷
That was my thoughts. I may try and tighten it up just a little. Because the wood I’m putting in there is so dry that the amount of water left in the wood would bake off after the first burn.
Yeah the door is massive. It’s so. I’ve to be able to throw in whatever size wood you can lift and just throw it in. Huge box. Stir coals around and start chucking.
A fella could always turn your shop heat on or whatever and leave the door open for a few hours, really pull the hell out of it until youre happy with your coal bed.
Yeah I thought about that too. Thing is the boiler gets up to temp so fast that no matter the load she’s up to temp in 5 min. I think even if I had everything off for a while and then turned all the heat on for everything the boiler would initially take a hit but would get back to temp in maybe 7 min. Still not enough time to get a good coal bed. I’m getting there though. I’m figuring it out. I’ve been putting in more wood than I need for 12 hrs and it seems to be working perfectly.
@tyharland1906 I haven’t yet. I have some in the next few batches of totes that I’m excited to throw in and see what happens. I will start with some logs that I have.
Does the C 800 have a timer on the back like the other c series Mine has a timer for the summer every hour.It runs for 2 minutes. You can set it for whatever you want
SO glad she is running better for you! Definitely a learning curve. Can’t wait to see how she performs in the winter!
Yeah me too. May use a little more wood but she will act like a semi truck and just keep running strong.

Good news 🎉 love it! You need to show it burning every video lol
I may just have to do that. Haha

Ok. I don’t know why it drips from there. Kind of annoying. Congrats on your boiler. I love these things.
Great update Matt.
Thanks. I’m just glad I don’t have to baby sit her anymore for now. Too busy and have too much going on to worry about anything else.

@@Treestofirewood I believe it will reduce your wood consumption

I have a crown royal 7400 gasification boiler. I switch the differential to 8 degrees from 10 when the day time temps get to 60-65.

I wanna see it ripping lol 😂🔥
Wait til you see it when it’s in a burn cycle. Its crazy.
That door is the size of a barn door😂
I went from a 360 edge CB gasser to 5036 CB non gasser i use no more wood with it than the gasser same wood same everything .
Yeah the door is massive. It’s so. I’ve to be able to throw in whatever size wood you can lift and just throw it in. Huge box. Stir coals around and start chucking.
@jimschnelle5635 isn’t that crazy. I feel the same. Less maintenance and less cleaning. Makes sense to me.

Where is this timer? I have not seen this.
