  • This is a staple technique when it comes to Kung Fu animals and Tiger Style. Not only is the blocking while advancing to tiger claw thrust appear in many other kung fu Tiger forms, but it also ties into the Choy Li Fut Classic combination we worked on in a previous video. When it comes to Tiger style, start here!

    Thank you, sifu! I just learned this combo last week in my group class and was hoping I could find a video to refresh my memory of all the moves.

    Great explanation, as always. I’m not likely to visit Europe anytime soon, but I’d love to take a class with you one day.
    On a different note, youtube captioned your name as “sifu cuddle” which I love

      Thanks! 🙏 I do travel and teach so maybe we will cross paths one day. As for the TH-cam captions... it's pretty much how I say it 😅 one of the least intimidating names in martial arts!!!

      I am lucky to get some mat time to film at a local Aikido school, recently the big wooden changing rooms were built and installed.

    that nau ma twisting stance is great after sitting at the computer just to practice that. I am dealing with patella tracking issues on the left leg too maybe this stance will strengthen it.

    How does that block work on haymakers? It seems more applicable to straight punches, at first glance.

      @SifuKuttel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good first glance! It is most commonly used for straight punches, I wouldn't suggest it for a haymaker as it travels in the same direction so your block would be chasing the punch.

    But what happens when the opponent sweeps your leg on the first step and and also pulls your hand making you off balanced

      Combat is never scripted and requires constant adjustments to your opponent. No technique is set in stone, combinations like this give you a starting point to work from when specific options are available.
      So a simple way to answer your question is: you adapt.

      Wouldn’t you want to start standing and not on the ground though

    • @SifuKuttel
      @SifuKuttel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@skywarrior5587 Depends on your comfort with being on the ground, and the context of the situation. If you feel it's the best way to properly address the situation and you are confident in your skill set then you can by all means start on the ground. If you wanted to do this combo specifically then I'd suggest standing.
